009. night of the comet

Lexa entered through the front door of her home. "Hey Lena, Hey Aunt Jenna." She called out, before approaching the couch where the pair were seated. "Where have you been Lexa?" Jenna asked, more curious than anything. "I went and visited Vicki in the hospital." She responded, before taking a seat in between the pair.

"Wait.. Vicki as in.. Jeremy's Vicki?" Jenna asked, trying to connect the dots. "Yep. Vicki was with Lexa and Jeremy." Elena informed their Aunt. "Yikes.. Lexa, surely you can do better than that." Jenna responded. Lexa frowned, not wanting to have this conversation right now.

"Well, how is Vicki?" Elena then asked. "She is doing really well.. she's going home tomorrow." Lexa explained to Elena. "That's awesome news." Elena replied, with a smile.

"I'm gonna make some tea, do you girls want some?" Jenna asked her nieces, as she got off the couch and walked into the kitchen. "Yes please!" The twins responded in unison.

"Lexa, I have a lot to catch you up on.." Elena laughed nervously, as she was going to catch Alexia up on what'd happened at Stefan's house earlier that day. "I'm listening." Lexa responded, with a slight smirk as she propped her chin on her hand.

Elena, Lexa and Bonnie were handing out pamphlets, for the comet event. "Tonight, night of the comet! Would you like a program?" Lexa asked strangers walking by, some taking pamphlets and some straight up ignoring her.

"Would you like a program?" Bonnie was asking strangers too, before she turned to Elena.  "He didn't call, huh?" She asked, referring to Stefan. "Or text. But I realized we never even exchanged that stuff. We've never gotten to the texting part." Elena admitted. "That's an important milestone in any relationship." Bonnie then huffed. "That's what I said!!" Lexa added loudly, before looking to her sister.

"The timing is wrong, anyway." Elena sighed, hoping to change the topic. "When is it ever right?" Bonnie asked. "I'm not ready, Bonnie." Elena responded. "Who is?" Bonnie and Lexa asked, in unison, before they turned to eachother and laughed.

Lexa then looked over Bonnie's shoulder and noticed Caroline. "Hey, I'll be back, gonna go talk to Care." She said before she quickly walked away. Bonnie just grinned as she watched Lexa walk towards Caroline, before she turned her attention back to Elena.

"At least I put myself out there." Elena said, going back to their conversation. "Is that what you're calling it?" Bonnie asked. "What do you mean?" Elena said, eyeing her friend. "All I'm hearing is reasons why you can't." Bonnie insisted.

Caroline could see Damon within the crowd and approached him... but when she got closer, he was gone. The blonde frowned, before she turned around to notice Lexa approaching her.

"Lexa!" She boomed, before smiling brightly. "Hey Carebear... what are you doing?" Lexa asked, as Caroline looked a little lost. Caroline looked back over her shoulder to where she thought Damon had been standing. Upon not seeing the raven haired man there, she looked back at her best friend and sighed. "I thought I saw a cute guy I recognised from the Grill.. and I wanted to get his number." She admitted, grumbling in defeat.

Lexa openly laughed at her best friend's antics, "Who's this cute guy?" She then asked, teasingly. Caroline blushed slightly, "The thing is.. I don't even know his name.. we haven't properly met yet." She admitted, awkwardly. "I'm sure you'll meet your Prince Charming soon." Lexa teased, before she put an arm around the blonde.

Caroline laughed, as she put her arm around Lexa now. It made Lexa glad to see her best friend had moved on from Stefan.. she had expected it honestly.. but she loved to see Caroline happy. The blonde then hugged her best friend.

"Lexa, we need to properly hang out.. like outside of school.. just us.." She huffed, in complaint. Lexa hugged Caroline back, "I know, I know. Maybe we could have a movie night at mine or something." Lexa suggested, with excitement. "I like that idea! How about tonight?" Caroline asked. "Sure!"

"Hey, I got some candles." Lexa announced as she walked back to her group, Caroline by her side. Everyone was gathering around the town square and lighting candles in tribute for the comet, it was really crowded.

Lexa and Caroline's candles were lit, using their flames they began lighting up their friends candles. "Thanks." Sienna said, as Lexa lit her candle.

Lexa and Sienna were acquaintances at best, truth be told the only mutual thing they shared was their current distaste for Vicki Donovan.

"How's the whore going?" She then asked, trying to make conversation. Lexa frowned, "Excuse me?" She asked, awkwardly. "Vick.. the whore.. y'know because she slept with you, your brother and my cousin.. all in the span of what.. a couple of months?" Sienna asked, with a laugh.

Lexa glared at the Lockwood, "Would it be that difficult for you to show some respect to her for five minutes?" She asked, bitterly. "I don't understand why you're defending her.. she's just going to keep breaking you, Gilbert. I wish my cousin would listen, I've been telling him the same thing." Sienna admitted.

Lexa just rolled her eyes, sick of talking to the brunette now. "I don't see why you're getting so worked up, I'm literally trying to tell you that you deserve better." Sienna insisted. "Funny that.. I don't remember asking." Lexa declared, before she walked off.

"If you're done talking shit about my sister, would you like to light my candle for me?" A voice spoke up, behind Sienna. The girl turned around, and gave an empathetic look when she saw Matt, followed by Allira. "Sorry Matty.. I love you, but your sister is such a nightmare." Sienna sighed.

She then lit Matt's candle, and he offered her a faux smile before he turned to Allira. Sienna frowned, feeling guilt.. that's right, Sienna, a stone cold bitch, felt guilty. Matt was her best friend and she knew her feelings towards Vicki upset him.. but she couldn't stand the girl.

Allira glanced at Sienna, wondering why her cousin was the was she is— a brutal bitch. The cousins couldn't be anymore different. The shorter Lockwood followed Matt, leaving Sienna behind.

Meanwhile, Lexa approached Stefan, finding him in the crowd. "Hey Stef.. I need to ask you something." Her voice rang. Stefan turned to his left to see the magical twin, being Lexa. "Hey.. yeah what's up?" Stefan asked, as if he didn't just get let down slowly by Elena.

Lexa looked around carefully before she took a step forward, "Did you attack Vicki.. the night of the party?" She asked quietly. Stefan's eyes widened in surprise before he shook his head quickly, "No Lexa, I didn't." He assured her. Lexa narrowed her eyes, not sure if she believed him. "It was my brother, Damon." Stefan confessed.

"Hey, has anyone seen Vicki?" Jeremy asked, entering the Grill with a quick pace, Allira by his side. "You're her stalker. You tell us." Tyler snapped, as Sienna laughed in response. Allira glared at her brother and cousin, "Can you two stop being rude for two seconds?" She suddenly snapped at them. "I can't find her." Jeremy said to the Lockwoods.

"She probably found somebody else to party with. Sorry, pill pusher, I guess you've been replaced." Tyler shrugged, catching Lexa's attention. "What's with the pill pusher?" Lexa asked now. "Ask him." Tyler replied, pointing to Jeremy.

"You wanna do this right now?" Jeremy asked as Elena approached him now. "Are you dealing?" Elena asked. "She's never gonna go for you." Tyler declared in the background. Lexa turned her head to face the boy, "Tyler, just shut the fuck up." She growled at him.

"She already did. Over and over and over again." Jeremy said, to Tyler. "Yeah, right." Tyler huffed. "I'm gonna be sick." Lexa blurted out.

"You slept with Vicki Donovan?" Caroline suddenly asked. "I mean, Vicki Donovan slept with you? Why doesn't she just sleep with Elena too while she's at it." She huffed dramatically.

"There's no way." Tyler laughed, not believing Jeremy. "I didn't even have to force her into it.. unlike what Lexa caught you doing." Jeremy admitted. "What the hell is he talking about, Ty?" Matt asked, defensively, facing Tyler. "Nothing, man, just ignore him, he's a punk." Tyler insisted.

"No sweetie, you're just upset that my brother called you out for trying to force Vicki into doing something she didn't want to do." Lexa replied, as she deadpanned Tyler.

"You know what, how about all of you shut up and help me find my sister?" Matt asked. Lexa eyed him, surprised that he didn't want to question Tyler further on forcing Vicki.

"We'll check the back." Bonnie decided quickly. "I'll check the square!" Matt declared. "I'll come with you." Jeremy said.

"Oh, no, no, no. You are coming with us." Elena declared, quickly taking her brothers arm as he sighed heavily. "So that's your game now, dealing?" Lexa asked, disappointedly. "I'm not dealing." Jeremy groaned at the twins.

"Look, I'm sick of the tough love speech, Jer. It's clearly having no impact." Elena insisted. "Jer, this isn't a path you want to go down." Lexa warned him. "You two and Jenna, between the three of you. Enough already!" Jeremy huffed, fed up with them all.

"We can stop if you want. Send you to a therapist where you'll be forced to deal with it or to rehab where you'll sit in group and tell some stranger how you let your life fall apart." Lexa said harshly, remembering back to her time in NA, though her siblings didn't know about it.

"Or you could talk to us, your family. Your sisters that love you so much." Elena pleaded. "I vote for none of the above." Jeremy concluded.

Sometime later Vicki sat in a booth, while Matt helped her with her stitches. Stefan stood behind them. "She said you found her wandering around." Matt said to the vampire. "Yeah." Stefan replied. "So, um, thanks." Matt replied awkwardly, before giving him a smile.

Caroline, Lexa and Bonnie were seated at another table, nearby. "Ugh, it's just so much drama. Ever notice how the druggies are the biggest attention whores?" Caroline asked bluntly. "Yeah." Bonnie admitted. Lexa stayed silent, not wanting to comment on the matter.

After a few moments, she leant her head on Caroline's shoulder whilst she looked at Vicki... she'd seen Stefan bring her inside.

She couldn't believe Stefan had been alone with Vicki... and had the chance to feed on her. But he didn't. He brought her back in one piece. Lexa realised now, she felt like she could trust the vampire.

"Excuse me. Hi." Stefan said, approaching the table. "Hey!" Bonnie responded. "Um, have you guys seen Elena?" He asked, releasing the Gilbert next to Caroline wasn't Elena.

"Am I a joke to you Stefan? I'm sitting right here." Lexa said casually, pretending to be her sister for a moment. Stefan's eyes widened, "E.. Elena I'm sorry!" He blurted in embarrassment, which just caused the brunette to openly laugh. "Just kidding it's Lexa. Lena went home." She assured him.

Seeing as Alexia referred to herself as Lexa to him, made Stefan wonder if it meant he could call her that.. or more importantly if it meant they were friends. As if Lexa could read his mind, she smiled, "And by the way, you can call me Lexa." She decided. Stefan just smiled back.

"I'm gonna give you Elena's cell number and her email. She is big on texting, and you can tell her...I said so." Bonnie decided, taking Stefan's attention away from Lexa for a moment.

"Yeah tell her Lexa said so, too.. girl needs to get it." The brunette teased. Stefan looked at Lexa in surprise for a moment.. was this her way of saying she did trust him around Elena now? Lexa noticed this and shot him a slight smirk.

"Thank you." Stefan said before he went to grab the slip of paper from Bonnie's hand, that held Elena's details. Bonnie touched Stefan's hand and had a vision.

"You ok?" Caroline asked awkwardly, as Bonnie was frozen for a moment. "What happened to you?" Bonnie then asked Stefan. "That's so rude. I'm sorry. Excuse me." She quickly, feeling embarrassed.

"Yeah, she kind of wigs out. It's like her thing." Caroline explained placing her hand down on the table, unintentionally sitting it on top of Lexa's.

The Gilbert looked down at their hands in surprise and blushed a little. Truthfully, she'd been thinking a lot about her conversation with Giorgia.

"How about that cutie blonde you were video calling the other day?" Giorgia then asked, "Caroline was it? You spoke to her quite affectionately." She added, with a playful smirk.

Lexa blushed, as she rolled her eyes playfully. "I know what you are insinuating here, Miss Gigi. I do not have a crush on my best friend, Caroline." She declared as Giorgia just smugly smiled at Lexa, not believing this claim.

Ever since then, the Gilbert couldn't help but to wonder if she was catching feelings for Caroline. They'd always been close and affectionate, but it had been different since Lexa had returned to Mystic Falls. She found herself craving the Forbes attention, and craving her touch.

She couldn't quite explain it.

━━━━━ ⋆⋅♥︎⋅⋆ ━━━━━

Lexa and Caroline waved goodbye to Bonnie as the brunette drove away. Caroline then linked her arm through Lexa's, "So movie night tonight?" She asked, excitedly. "You bet, Carebear." The Gilbert chimed, as Caroline smiled at her. Lexa then smiled back at Caroline, before she slightly blushed.

They stopped as they reach the car, and Lexa pulled her car keys out of her pocket. She dropped them and groaned, before bending down to pick them up.

Whilst this was happening, Caroline was staring as a figure approached them. "Lexa! I think it's him!" Caroline said in a loud whisper, as Lexa stood back upright and turned around, noticing the figure walking towards them.

Caroline then gasped when she indeed recognised the figure as the guy she'd seen the other night— who she'd been praying she'd run into again. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." The voice spoke, belonging to Damon. Lexa just gave him an unamused look, as they were clearly about to leave.. she didn't understand why this guy was coming over to them.

"No, it's fine. Um...I was hoping I'd see you again." Caroline admitted, as she smiled at Damon dreamily. "I know." The vampire responded, with a grin.

"Cocky much?" Lexa asked, raising an eyebrow. "Very much." Damon responded casually. "No one likes a cocky prick." Lexa then said bluntly, crossing her arms as she stared at the guy with an unamused look. "Oh come on Lex, lay off." Caroline said, tugging on the brunette's arm.

Damon then looked Lexa up and down, before offering her a smirk, "Maybe I could buy you a drink?" He offered, ignoring Caroline as he only looked at Lexa now. The brunette shook her head, "No thanks. I have plans tonight that certainly don't involve you." She responded coldly. "Ouch." Damon chuckled in reply, pretending to be hurt by her tone.

Caroline then cleared her throat, catching both Damon and Lexa's attention. "I'm not busy, and I would love a drink." She then announced. Lexa then blinked in surprise, before she frowned, "Care?? We're supposed to be hanging out tonight." She admitted, trying not to sound hurt by the fact her best friend was going to ditch her for this stranger.

"I chose some of your favourite movies and snacks." Lexa added, offering a weak smile. Caroline just turned to the Gilbert and frowned, "Lexa, we can sleepover another night, I promise." She assured her.

Caroline then turned back to Damon and took a step towards him, "So, about that drink?" She asked as Damon took her hand, and the pair began to walk away, back towards the Grill. Lexa frowned, watching the pair walking away.

Caroline was very interested in Damon, but it was clearly not mutual, as Damon couldn't seem to keep his eyes off of Lexa. The girl caught him staring and shot him a glare, before she turned around to get into her car.
