After Theo Nott and Draco Malfoy excused themselves from dinner and began their walk along the grounds, to which Draco couldn't stop chuckling to himself. "Theo would be delighted to escort you. Isn't that right, son?"
Theo was rolling his eyes, Draco had been laughing for several minutes and it wasn't even funny. "Okay, Draco, it's gotten old. It was not that funny."
Draco turned to look at him, "You don't get it. He doesn't know how much Scarlett hates you. Her rants about you are so hate-filled. You and her dancing would be the highlight of my year. Absolutely hilarious. Did you see how red she got at the table? I swear if you have to dance with her, she'd purposely step on your feet over and over-"
Theo cut him off, "Okay, I get it! She hates me! I mean, to be honest, I thought she'd warmed up to me a little bit."
Draco scoffed, "She's a firm believer in keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. Did you see the way she glared at you this yesterday? When you walked in my room, if looks could kill, you would've been dead."
Theo nodded, "I'm sure." His voice laced in sarcasm, if only Draco knew.
If only Draco knew about the kiss they'd shared a week prior, the stolen glances, their fights, his stupid mistake of threatening the other boys.. Well, maybe Draco was right, if her looks could kill, he would be dead. But just a week ago, he wouldn't have been.
He fucked up the greatest thing that had happened to him so far. Except was it really that bad? It was honestly a good thing. Just a summer fling. They could've never had a real relationship. Draco would kill him and having a huge fallout with Draco would've been pointless if they dated just to inevitably break up. Why fuck up his best and longest friendship for a girl?
"Although, I am glad that she and Tori are getting along. I'm glad she's finally made a friend of her own. I think Tori will be a good friend for her to have. I've always felt bad that she's just followed me around. She needs girl friends."
"She was friends with Pansy for a bit."
"She didn't like Pansy that much and you know it."
Theo shrugged, "I don't like Crabbe and Goyle that much but I tolerate them."
"Well, no one really likes them. It's different with Astoria. She needs a good girl friend to associate with. Pansy just hung around to try and be close to me."
Theo scoffed, "Oh, like Astoria staying over isn't convenient for you."
Draco swatted his arm, "It is not! Honestly Theo, you act like I'm sneaking her in my room while Scarlett is asleep."
"Don't act like you haven't."
"I haven't! Meanwhile you have been in Scarlett's unsupervised while you were both drunk."
"I was only partially drunk."
"You were partially drunk in my little cousin's bedroom at two in the morning. What would Lucius think of that? What would your dad think of that?"
"Nothing because nothing happened! You'd kill me yourself."
"Damn right. Remember that. I'm glad she doesn't like you. Because if she did we could never hang out here. It'd make me sick to watch her fall in love with you, you womanizer."
"I'm not that bad." Theo defended himself.
"Yeah well you're not that great either."
Theo rolled his eyes.
-
"I wonder what they're talking about." Astoria mumbled.
She and Scarlett were watching Theo and Draco from the balcony.
"Probably stupid boy stuff." Scarlett guessed.
"Maybe Theo's asking for permission to court you." Astoria teased.
"Well, seeing as how he's not a bloody mess on the ground, I doubt that's what they're talking about."
Astoria rolled her eyes, "Did you think about anything that I said?"
Scarlett sighed, "No. I had to dance with him for practice today and I was tempted to murder him. He was so fucking annoying. He kept teasing me. I asked Madam Sallow if I could leave and she told me that if we just paid attention to dancing then he wouldn't bother me but that made it worse because he kept staring me down with those goddamn blue eyes. He was holding my waist extremely tight and practically squeezing my hand. Merlin, it was hot. But I'm over him. He's a controlling asshole."
"Be honest right now, if he pulled you into a corner and asked you to meet him in the library once Draco was asleep, you wouldn't?"
"Absolutely not. I have standards."
"You're crazy. You've kissed him before and you enjoyed it. He obviously likes you, he practically admitted it. Deep down you had to have found it a little romantic that he threatened all of those boys to keep them away from you."
"Astoria, I swear you just talk to hear yourself talk."
She shrugged, "Sometimes."
-
"Do you think they're talking about me?" Draco asked.
He and Theo were on their way back from their walk when he realized that Astoria and Scarlett were out on the balcony.
"Don't be ridiculous, they're obviously talking about me." Theo joked.
"Oh yes, how could I forget that my girlfriend is in love with you?"
"And your cousin. What can I say, she just can't resist the Nott charm."
Draco rolled his eyes, "If there's one person in the world that can resist the Nott charm, it's Scarlett."
If only he knew.
Theo changed the subject, "Aren't your mum and dad leaving for Italy tonight to finalize some plans for the ball?"
"Yes, why?"
"We should invite a few people over." He suggested.
"I knew I kept you around for a reason. Sometimes you do have smart ideas."
-
At midnight, Pansy Parkinson, Graham Montague, Terrence Higgs, Daphne Greengrass, Blaise Zabini and Tracey Davis entered the Manor through the fireplace.
With the exception of Pucey, he had heard about their small party, but when he tried to Floo through to come over, he couldn't get it to work. Maybe their Floo was broken, he thought.
Or maybe, when no one was around to hear, Theo whispered a little spell to stop Adrian from coming through. He fucked up his friendship with Scarlett and he sure couldn't fix it if her idiot boyfriend was around.
The teenagers were all sitting around a giant table in one of the rooms on the first floor. "Let's play Never Have I Ever." Tracey suggested.
After she explained how to play the Muggle game, everyone agreed that it sounded fun and wanted to play it.
She started, "Never have I ever been so drunk I danced on tables." It was a tease towards Scarlett.
Scarlett picked up her shot glass and downed it, slamming it back onto the table.
"Bringing shame to the Malfoy name since 1981." Draco teased her.
She rolled her eyes, "My turn. Never have I ever snuck a girl over while my parents were home."
She watched Draco's smug grin turn into a frown as he picked up his shot glass, "That was low, Scarlett."
She shrugged. She started to respond but noticed Theo was pouring himself another shot. He had taken one. She wondered who he had snuck over.
Terrence spoke up, "Never have I ever skinny dipped in the Black Lake. Graham go ahead and take a shot."
"I told you that as a secret!" Graham exclaimed.
Terrence shrugged.
Graham took his shot and then grinned, obviously he'd come up with his revenge, "Never have I ever kissed a girl that had a boyfriend." But it backfired.
"Be more specific we've all kissed girls that have had boyfriends." Blaise spoke up.
"No like, she was dating the boy when you kissed her."
A shot glass slammed down onto the table, but it wasn't Terrence's.
Everyone turned to Theo.
Draco was the first to speak, "Who was it?"
Theo shrugged, "I don't kiss and tell."
"Do we know her?" Blaise asked.
"Some of you know her very well." He mumbled.
Scarlett kicked him from under the table. He was across from her.
"Please, you have to tell us, it won't leave this room." Graham begged.
"Maybe she's in the room." Terrence joked.
All eyes turned to Astoria and Scarlett.
"Don't look at us!" Astoria exclaimed.
"You two are the only ones with boyfriends." Daphne reminded them.
"I'd pitch myself from the Astronomy tower before willingly kissing Theo." Scarlett deadpanned, spinning her shot glass around in her hand.
"I've been with Draco for years now, why would I ruin that over Theo?" Astoria asked.
Their answers were good enough to the rest because Blaise changed the subject, "Have you guys ever played Truth or Dare?"
Everyone except for Tracey had. The rules were quickly explained and then the game began.
