MILO ARTHUR HOPPER HAD ALWAYS BEEN A PROTECTER, A SELFLESS ONE-BUT NOW WITHOUT THREATS THAT TRIED TO WIPE OUT OR KILL THEM, HE REALISED HE WAS ALSO A TEENAGE BOY, AND SADLY TEENAGE BOYS CAME WITH emotions and feelings and other things he did not quite understand yet. For he has never been a normal kid.

But Milo found he liked pretty girls very much-or at least pretty girls like Juno when they smiled at him.

"This place is nice." Said girl breathed out, letting her gaze linger around the surrounding woods before settling on the wooden cabin that resided in the middle of nowhere.

"It is." Milo could only reply as he led the sweater wearing girl down the dirt road that led to the creaky wooden stairs of the Hopper cabin-El and Max had already hurried ahead, giggling as they tightly clasped their hands together before they disappeared from their view.

Milo did not follow as quickly, instead chose to calmly walk next to the brunette teen next to him who was still admiring her surroundings with an awe filled smile. "It's very quiet here." Juno added after a moment of peace, her gaze landing on the awkward blonde boy towering next to her.

He smiled reservedly at her, and she could not help but let her own smile grow a tad bit wider at the sight. His brown gaze was fixed on her, and for a moment she was lost in his eyes before the shrill voice of El came from the porch ahead.

"Can we make some Eggo's Milo?" She called out, Max' head peeking over the shoulder of her friend.

Milo blinked, adjusting his gaze to let his eyes flicker to his little sister smiling adorably at her.

"Just a couple alright?" The blonde replied, and the youngest Hopper nodded affirmatively before disappearing once more.

Juno stood still next to the boy waiting for him to say anything as they lingered outside.

"You want to go home?" the blonde questioned after a beat of silence, noting how dark it was getting as the blue sky began to get an orange and yellow tint.

Juno's eyes flicker up to meet his as she almost smiled shyly at him before she spoke up, "Do you want me to go?" She wondered, quickly averting her eyes to focus on her bike.

Milo's cheeks tinted red, "I, erh," He stammered slightly unnerved. On one side, he actually found that he liked Juno's company very much. She didn't know him as Zero, as an experiment, she just saw him, and wanted to spend time with him. With Milo. But on the other hand, a far more rational side, he knew Jim would be everything but pleased if he'd let Juno inside. The chances of her finding out about him, about Eleven made him hesitate even more, before deciding, for once, to actually pick what he wanted to do. "You can stay." He confirmed and Juno's nervous expression immediately morphed into one of happiness as she eagerly locked her bike and waited for Milo to lock his own.

"For a moment I thought you would send me home." Juno laughed, the sound drifting around the silent woods surrounding the cabin as Milo led her inside his house. Eleven and Max had already disappeared to El's room, the faint sound from the radio filling the house, the only evidence they were there was the opened box of Eggo's on the counter.

Milo chuckled softly and awkwardly stood in the living room with Juno staring at him like she was trying to solve a puzzle. "I never had a friend over." He admitted after a moment and he saw a glimmer of sympathy shimmer in Juno's hazel eyes.

"Oh." She breathed out surprised, feeling a small bit of pride for being called his friend. "We'll I am glad to be the first." She smiled blissfully, eyes squinted together as she regarded the blonde boy.

The blonde smiled goofily at her, and Juno found it completely adorable as a strand of blonde hair fell in front of his eyes. He took no note of it, and seemed not event slightly bothered by it.

"I uh, I don't really know what to, erh-do." Milo admitted hesitantly, almost anxious for Juno's reply as he swung his eyes back and forward.

Juno chuckled, "You really haven't done anything like this before."

Milo could only watch as Juno started to move around the cabin like she had been there a hundred times before. Hazel eyes traveling around the different trinkets sprawled around and photographs hanging from the walls. "You were a very cute toddler." Juno states suddenly, holding up a golden framed picture.

It was of him-obviously. Maybe two or three years old, dressed in an awfully colourful cat sweater and his father's sheriff's head on his mop of blonde curls. He was missing his front tooth as he glimpsed up at the camera.

Milo didn't remember times where he looked so happy. But then again, he didn't remember anything at all.

"Thank you." His cheeks heated up as more silence-well more so giggling girls in the background filled up the room.

Juno bit her lip, gently placing the picture frame back on the cabinet. "now, I don't know about you, but I could use something to eat." She clapped her hands together before skipping towards the kitchen with a new-found glee in her face. "My mum makes these crazy delicious cookies, and I kid you not, they are easier to make than you would believe."

"You want to erh-bake?" He asked slowly, not sure if he had understood the girl correctly.

"Obviously." She turns around to look at him, hands on her hips, "don't you?"

    "Well, I haven't baked before."

"You'll be in for a great time then, I can make baking very fun." Juno joked, already rummaging through the kitchen cabinets and fridge as if she were at her own home.

JIM HOPPER WAS A CAUTIOUS MAN-AN OVERPROTECTIVE ONE TOO, THE YEARS HE HAS LIVED HAD MADE HIM SO, AND KEEN SENSES OF THE UNNATURAL HAD LEFT HIM MORE CAREFUL THAN MOST PEOPLE, so as he arrive home that evening, later than he normally did, finding an unfamiliar bike parked in front of the cabin left him more unnerved than he liked to admit.

As he approached the door of his home, soft music entered his ears. As he stepped inside his eyes settled on the mess before him. The kitchen was filled to the brim with all kinds of kitchen applicants and supplies strewn about-and covered in what looked like flour.

Slowly his eyes trailed to the closed door of the youngest Hopper-the same room where the music softly played and his eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Hey! Hey-when I say three inches, three-"

He blinked, staring at Eleven sprawled on the floor with a magazine in her hands-only her normal company, Mike, was nowhere to be seen. Instead he locked eyes with the redhead Max.

    "Do you knock? Jeez!"

    "yeah... Jeez." El echoed

"Oh hey..." Jim mumbled unsurely, "I'm sorry, I thought that eh.."

"Mike's not here." Max assured him sassily before El took it upon herself to state; "Max wanted to have a sleepover. Milo said it was fine. That's okay?"

Jim paused for a moment before nodding slowly, "Yeah. Yeah, yeah yeah. Your parents know?"

     "Yup." Max nodded.

"What happened to the kitchen?" He inquired after a second and both girls giggled in amusement.

"Milo and the new girl did that." Max explained and Jim's eyes widened at the words.

     "N-new girl?"

"Yeah." El nodded, albeit very stoically. "They're in his room."

Jim silently nodded, taking steps backwards before closing El's bedroom door. His eyes flickered towards the bedroom door at the other side of the cabin-the one that was actually open partially.

He stormed towards the door, a new anger-mixed with fear coursing through his body as he slammed the door open fully.

Both teens inside the room jumped at the sudden sound that invaded the silence and startled them. Milo's eyes darted up to his father from where he was sitting on the ground leaning against his bed, while Juno laid sprawled on his bed, flipping through one of Milo's comic books he had been gifted earlier that summer by Jonathan.

"Milo...a word." The chief muttered, as he nodded towards the living room while Juno remained staring at the man in surprise.

Slowly, Milo placed the plate of baked cookies on the ground, gifting Juno with a small smile before disappearing from the room, Hopper closely following after him as he closed the door.

"What the hell do you think you are doing Milo?" He hissed under his breath, eyes nervously darting towards his closed bedroom door where the new girl was still.

"Spending time with a friend." The blonde stated firmly.

"You can't just invite strangers to the house Milo." Jim scolded furiously," how did you even met this, this girl?"

"Joyce." Milo answered, looking a bit defeated under his father's scrutinising gaze, "They moved into the house next to Melvad's."

"Milo what if she finds out about you, about El? It is dangerous kid. Everyone thinks you are dead. You can't just parade yourself around town like that."

"Milo-are you alright?" Juno suddenly peeked her head through the bedroom door, looking concerned and nervously between the father and son duo.

"She knows you name!" Jim frowned in disappointment.

"Why wouldn't I" Juno fully stepped inside the living room.

"I think you should leave." Jim turned to her as Milo spluttered out protests.

     "Dad-"

     "No."

"it's okay Milo." Juno reassured as she placed a hand on his shoulder, smiling kindly at the boy. "My mum must be getting worried."

Milo could only watch as the brunette swiftly gathered her belongings, sheepishly looking at the mess they left in the kitchen before disappearing through the front door with one final wave at him.

"Why did you do that?" Milo inquired heatedly, narrowing his eyes at his father.

"You are supposed to be dead, everyone in this town thinks so!" Jim shouted, "they can't find out you're alive!"

"Well maybe I should have stayed dead then!" Milo bellowed, angry tears gathering in his eyes as he regarded his father in disbelief. "I don't want to sit inside all day, doing nothing! It is summer! Summer is supposed to be fun!"

"You'll get yourself killed if you're acting so recklessly!"

"Making friends is not reckless!" Milo shouted with finality as he snatched his jacket from the couch and grabbed the keys of his bike lock from the table before darting out of the door, Jim angrily shouting at him to get back.

But Milo was already biking down the dirt path-Jim helplessly staring at his disappearing figure.

Maybe it wouldn't be that perfect summer after all.
