MILO HOPPER HAD FOUND MANY THINGS ESPECIALLY ODD TO WITNESS, FROM THE STRANGE TELEVISION PROGRAMS HOPPER WATCHED TO MIKE'S OBSESSIVE NEED TO CONSTANTLY BE AT the Hopper residence and be with his little sister. And as he observed, it seemed that his father found the sight particulairy peculiar too. Especially the feelings they radiated and he picked up upon because of his enhanced connection just threw him of guard so much he sometimes couldn't even separate his own feelings from theirs.
The sight that evening was once again quite uncomfortable for the blonde boy who had been sitting in his own room, with the door open and trying— with emphasis on try, to read it, but it had proven to be impossible as the all to familier creak of Hopper's chair resounded throughout the cabin, showing that the man was leaning backwards again to gaze into Eleven's room.
"Hey!" Jim called out, perplexed by the sight of the two teens kissing in his daughter's bedroom, but Eleven, clearly not happy either trusted her hand forward and slammed the door shut with her powers.
"Three-inch minimum!" He launched himself from his chair and rushed towards the youngest Hopper's room with a new found determination, "Leave the door open three inches." He pounded his fist on the door and slowly Milo emerged from his own room, blonde hair tousled and messy as he leaned on the doorframe to observe the scene in front of him.
"El open this door!" He grunted trying to forcefully turn the knob , "Open this—"
Jim finally manged to get the door open and the man almost fell through the doorpost before catching himself as he glared at the Wheeler boy who was casually laying on El's bed with a comic book in his grip.
"What's wrong?" He asked cluelessly and grinned cheekily just as Milo appeared next to his father, the boy had grown so much over such a small period of time that he was as tall as his own dad at this point.
The man grumbled indifferently before turning on the ball of his heel to leave again, sparing a fleeting glance at Milo who lingered by his sister's bedroom door, brows creased together as he glanced between the young teens. "It is eight."
"So?" Mike raised a challenging brow.
Milo narrowed his own eyes, as innocent as he may be perceived by most people, the boy had been to hell and back— literally in a sense and squared his shoulders. "Time for you to go."
"But—" Eleven started to protest, jumping from her bed to look at her brother with pleading eyes.
"If you had been nicer to dad," Milo began quietly, throwing a quick glance over his shoulder to see Jim had already retreated to his own bedroom, "He might have let you stay longer."
Mike grumbled, glaring the blonde boy before he turned to his girlfriend with a crooked smile and heart eyes. "See you tomorrow?"
Milo's glare softened at the sight, "Tomorrow." Eleven confirmed with a nod and Mike grabbed his bag from the hardwood floor before pushing passed Milo to leave the Hopper residence and as the door slammed shut Milo let his shoulders slouch again and he sent an apologetic smile towards his sister.
"Why did you do that?" Eleven heaved out, letting herself fall backwards on her bed.
"Because dad doesn't like it." Milo argued softly, approaching the bed to sit next to his little sister, "Plus Jonathan said big brother's look out for their younger siblings."
Eleven's face turned stoic at the words, "Hopper doesn't have to like everything we do Zero." The girl sat back up to stare at her brother. "He doesn't even let us leave the house most of the time, it's Summer! we're supposed to have fun."
"We can have fun here." Milo mumbled, sending her a encouraging smile
"Maybe." He could feel the anger radiate from the girl, the tether contacting him to her almost pulsating. "If you did something else than read those stupid books. You are no fun."
Milo smile faltered at her harsh words and he nodded quietly before pushing himself up to his feet but he paused at the doorframe to look back at the girl only to see her back turned to him. "I'm sorry you feel that way." He whispered before leaving and closing the door softly.
A large sigh leaves his chapped lips as he glances around the empty living room before rubbing his tired eyes just as Eleven's voice flooded through the door.
"It was like a tomato!" He heard El giggle.
"I wish I was still with you."
Milo sighed as he turned off the lights and retreated back to his own bedroom, softly closing the door behind him as he let himself fall down on his bed. The radio on his room was still softly playing a tune he was unfamiliar with when suddenly he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.
He immediately lifted his hand and touched the back of his neck, his brows furrowing together as he felt a familiar feeling rush through his body and he swallowed thickly as an immense feeling of terror spread through his skin like fire but when he blinked the feeling was gone like it had never been there.
Milo touched the back of his neck again, but the Goosebumps were already gone and he contemplated if anything had happened at all as his head went a million miles a second before finally caving in and turning to his nightstand to turn the radio off.
The blonde looked up at the ceiling, eyes slowly closing as he gave into his exhaustion as another Summer day came to an end.

MORNING CAME QUICKER THAN THE BLONDE TEENAGER EXPECTED IT WOULD AS ELEVEN KNOCKED LOUDLY ON HIS BEDROOM DOOR AT NINE O'CLOCK SHOUTING AT THE TEENAGER TO GET DRESSED before they were late to surprise Dustin who was coming home today from some sort of camp he had no clue about-- but most of the time anything that left the Henderson boy's mouth seemed completed alien to him.
Two stacks of Eggos's were already placed on the dinner table, Eleven already halfway done with hers as she quietly ate, not sparing Jim or Milo another glance, seemingly still mad about yesterday evening's events.
"Are you excited for Dustin to get back?" Milo cleared his throat and asked after a second of awkward silence, the blonde boy never good in uncomfortable silences as he filled the with tension filled room.
Eleven only hummed as she scooped the last part of Eggo's in her mouth before pushing her chair backwards and left to go to the bedroom.
Milo sighed, leaning his head in the palm of his hand that rested on the table as he mindlessly pushed bits of food around his plate, making Jim look at the boy in concern. Both Eleven and Milo were not blood related, but the two kids loved Eggo's more than anything else.
But today it seemed his oldest wasn't in the mood as he barely took a bite. "Are you okay kid?" Jim asked awkwardly, not really good or comfortable with talking about feelings--he could talk endlessly about almost anything ranging from his work to anything weird and upside-down related like it was the most normal thing in the world. But feelings were still something the man struggled with, he had since he lost Milo for the first time, and after Sara he had completed shut down and build a wall and hide every emotion deep down in a cave.
"Am I not fun?" He asked earnestly, the question had been on the tip of his tongue ever since yesterday evening and he felt relieved now that it was off of his chest.
"Why would you ask that?" Hopper frowned as he looked at his son, but the blonde boy had his eyes fixed on his plate.
Milo opened his mouth, ready to tell the truth before he closed it again, not wanting to get his sister in trouble for something-- or anything at all. He didn't want to have any more arguments with her.
"Just something I wondered." He replies after a moment, brown eyes flicker up to meet the familiar ones of his father. "I never really do anything."
Jim pulled at the collar of his shirt and cleared his throat as he thought about his next words carefully. "Are you having fun?"
Milo's brows creased together at the question, "I don't really know what fun is."
"Oh." Jim breathes out as silence engulfs the two.
"What is fun?" Milo wonders, a childlike innocence in his eyes as he patiently waits for an answer from his father.
"Well— It's" He stuttered out unsure, thinking back to what he found fun back when he had been a teenager only to come up with things he wouldn't want Milo to do in a million years, "The arcade?" His answers comes out more of a question and he mentally scolds himself.
Milo nods, "Can I go there?" There is an excited glimmer in his eyes about the thought of going somewhere other than the outside the cabin.
"I'm not sure if that's a good idea." He sighs, as his son's face falls, "We don't know anyone there and no one knows you're alive kid."
"I can be careful." Milo argues, sitting up straight. "I promise, I'm good at hiding."
"I know kid, I just worry a lot about you."
"Please?"
It is written on Jim's face that he is thinking over the pros and cons of the situation before finally caving in. "Just for a couple hours okay? Don't say your name to anyone okay? And afterwards you immediately come back home.
"I promise." Milo says enthusiastically, almost bouncing in his seat just as Eleven returns from the bathroom.
"Are you ready?" She inquired, hands placed on her hips and Jim's old plaid blouse tucked in her jean shorts already.
"Almost. "The blonde nods, standing up to brush his teeth before dashing through the front door with Eleven hot on his heels.
"Be careful!" Jim calls out from where he is standing in the doorframe as Milo grabs the bike he and Eleven share and climbs on it with Eleven standing on it behind him, holding on to his shoulders.
For a moment the siblings forgot everything that had happened yesterday as they laugh together as Milo races down another small hill just in front of Dustin's house the warm Summer sun gleaming down on the too, and for a moment they're just like all the other children and it is not like they have been lab experiments for most of their lives.
Mike, Will, Lucas and Max are already standing in front of the Henderson residence and their bikes are carelessly thrown on the ground. Milo slows down, before coming to a complete stop in front of the group. Milo waits for Eleven to descend before stepping of off the bike himself and the group quickly hide their bikes (— and Max' skateboard ) before Eleven steps forward and unlocks the door with a quick snap of her head and the all spill inside and look for a place to hide.
The group expectantly looks up at Milo who takes in a deep breath before closing his eyes, the all too familiar feeling engulfs his senses as his focuses on finding Dustin before his eyes snap open again. 'Close." He whispers, "And worried." the boy adds just as they here the engine of a car in front of the house.
They all press their backs against the wall, hiding from Dustin and his mother as they enter their home and the curly haired boy passes them without a second look as he drops his bag on his bed. The group exchanges excited grins before Eleven closes her eyes, her own powers taking over as the toy robots in Dustin's room come alive and the girl makes them leave the room and they watch the boy leave, some sort of spray can in his hand.
"This is just a dream. " Dustin assured himself quietly, "I am dreaming."
Mike glances at El who is concentrating deeply, "Now." The boy whispers and El's eyes snap open and the toys she previously was controlling fall silent as the group creeps around the wall to see the boy crouched on the ground holding up a Star Wars figure that looks vaguely familiar to Milo.
Milo is focused on Max who is mouthing the countdown before they all yell out a gleeful surprise only for the Henderson boy to be so startled he screams, arms outstretched in front of him as he sprays something called Farrah Fawcet in Lucas' eyes while they all jump back.
Maybe this was fun— Milo thought after a second, the corner of his lip lifting upwards.
