...DANA shudders and wraps her arms around herself. She sees a guy draping his jacket over Annabeth's shoulders and nudges Percy.

"Hey, I'm freezing here," she says, eyeing his jacket.

He follows her gaze and smirks. A mischievous glint appears in his eyes, and he leans closer to her.

"Want me to set you on fire?" he whispers.

She rolls her eyes. "I'm already hot," she retorts.

A beat of silence.

"Wait, you're hot? I thought you were cold," he says, puzzled.

She shoots him a look, but she can't help smiling.

He lets go of their hands and she feels a strange sense of déjà vu. Frowning, she turns to Vivienne who's smiling at her.

"Want to dance?"

"Hell, yeah."

They move as if they were floating on air, their steps graceful and light. Their bodies are in perfect harmony, following the rhythm of the music and their hearts. They look into each other's eyes, smiling softly, as if they shared a secret.

They spin and sway, their arms wrapped around each other, their clothes fluttering like petals. They were in their own world, oblivious to the others around them.

They danced as if they were dreaming, and they never wanted to wake up.

When the song ended, Vivienne kissed her forehead, but even the warmth which erupted in her stomach didn't make her stop fingering her necklace.

Dana sighs and rubs her temples. She feels a gentle touch on her shoulder and looks up to see Vivienne, looking concerned.

"Hey, what's up?" Annabeth asks, as Vivienne brushes a lock of Dana's hair behind her ear.

Dana shakes her head. "Nothing. Just a bad feeling." She scans the room and spots Percy chatting with Bianca and Nico Di Angelo.

She snorts.

"Great. Just what we need. Mr. Hero over there."

"Who?" Annabeth follows her gaze.

"Percy." Dana says. "Let's go before he ruins everything for us."

..."Okay," Annabeth whispers, holding up three fingers. "On the count of three."

Dana nods, wincing as Percy is slammed to the ground. Sheesh, that boy is horrible. She watches him struggle.

"One.."

Dana feels alarmed. She feels a presence she hadn't felt for a few years. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She holds on to Vivienne's hand a little tighter.

"Two..."

Vivienne squeezes her hand, her eyes asking a question. Dana weakly smiles and readies her bow. If this was who she thought it was... she had to give her best fight.

"Three!"

Dana whistles as she leaps into action, her eyes shining silver. She draws an arrow and aims for Dr. Thorn's heart, chatting casually as she fires. Annabeth knocks into Percy.

"For Zeus!" Thalia shouts. Dana would have personally chosen a better god to dedicate to.

The arrow ricochets off his chest, leaving no mark.

"Hey, what made you choose the name 'thorn'?" She inquires as she slides under his legs.

"It was a spur of the moment thing!" He snaps, kicking her in the knee. She falls to the ground, bleeding and groaning.

"Ugh." She wrinkles her nose in distaste at the blood. Pretending to brush it off, even though it hurts like hell she turns to the beast.

He's strangling Vivienne.

Dana sees red. Her hand trembles as she raises it, and she moves at super speed from a surge of energy. She slams into the beast, and a black aura surrounds Thorn. His soul is flung away, and Dana can see it writhing.

"Let me go!" Thorn whimpers, his soul trying to go back.

I don't think so," Dana says coldly, as she twists her hand, making the soul suffer more. Her eyes feel like they are burning and her body is full of power. Percy stares in horror.

"Dana-this isn't normal." He begs.

(She ignores him. What does he know?)

Dana senses a faint warmth next to her and whirls around to face Zoe Nightshade, who lowers her hand that is still smoking from the blast. Zoe's silver eyes meet hers with a calm expression.

"Enough, star-child," Zoe says softly, but firmly.

"Is mother—" Dana starts to ask, hoping against hope.

"She's here."

Dana feels a wave of relief and lets go of Thorn's soul. She had been holding it in a tight grip, ready to rip it apart.

He spasms on the ground, his eyes blazing with hate. Zoe draws her bow and points it at his chest. She looks at the girl for approval.

"May I shoot him, m'lady?" She asks respectfully.

Thorn laughs, a deep and mocking sound that echoes in the air.

"You can kill me, but the General lives on!" He taunts.

A helicopter flies over them, rattling the ground with its noise. It fires bullets at them, making them scatter. Dana dives behind a rock and sees the girl step forward. She has long black hair and pale skin. She wears a silver dress and a silver circlet on her head. She radiates power and authority.

"Mortals have no place in my hunt," she announces in a clear voice that carries over the din.

She waves her hand casually. "Begone," she orders and the helicopter disappears in a flash of light.

Dana spots Percy trying to jump off the cliff. He looks desperate and determined. She runs to him and grabs his arm. She pulls him back with all her strength.

"Are you crazy?" She shouts at him, trying to make him see reason. "Where's Annabeth? She usually keeps you in check-" She stops when she sees his anguished expression.

His green eyes are filled with tears and pain.

"Percy?" She whispers softly. "What's wrong?"

She looks at Thalia for answers. Thalia looks away guiltily. Grover bleats nervously. The girl steps forward. She has a sad look on her face.

"It's no use, Percy Jackson." She says gently.

"What do you mean? We have to save her!" Percy protests.

"Your friend...is lost." The girl says sadly.

Dana feels a chill run down her spine. "Lost? Who the hell are you to say that?" She challenges the girl.

"Yeah! You didn't even lift a finger to help her, you arrogant-" Vivienne starts to say, but is cut off by a glare from the girl.

The girl's eyes flash silver and then soften again. Zoe moves as if to slap them both, but Dana glares at her.

"Where's my mother?" She demands angrily.

The girl raises her hand to stop Zoe. "Don't be harsh, Zoe. I don't blame them for their ignorance. And I won't let you hit my daughter."

"Your daughter?" Percy repeats, confused.

Dana gasps and realises the truth. She blushes slightly.

"Sorry," she mutters, even though she thinks her mother could have appeared a bit older.

Her mother nods and turns to Percy.

"I am Artemis, goddess of the hunt."
