you know those instances where you wake up and somehow, you find yourself still tired? well, this was one of those times.

the last few days have been very stressful for you and have put a physical, emotional, and mental strain on you. you were moving houses, and the past weeks have consisted of packing your things up, saying goodbyes to your friends around the neighborhood, and contacting the moving company. things just didn't go your way. having to decide everything you wanna keep and the things you wanted to throw out or donate was a pain, as well as bidding farewell to everyone you knew but of course, things just had to be more difficult for you.

the moving van decided to get the wrong directions and quite literally, move most of your belongings and the most essential of your belongings halfway across the country. you wanted nothing more than to burst into tears when you inquired the company about your things and they informed you of that but you knew you had to stay strong. the person on the other line of the call didn't have to hear the result of weeks and weeks of stress.

finally though, you were here in your new place with all of your things in your possession and all of your furniture now built.

when you opened your eyes, you were reminded that not everything is completely done. there is still boxes all over your bedroom but these are boxes that just contained fairly unimportant things: some decor, paintings, posters, figurines and such. they could wait and you could afford to sleep in today.

just as you covered yourself in your trusty blanket, your phone went off and you let out a frustrated groan. "i swear if it's that moving company, i'm gonna-" you were pleasantly surprised though, as you looked at your screen. "{one new message from nickie}: happy birthday, [y/n]! get your butt dressed. i'm picking you up at nine thirty from your new house so we can celebrate. i know some places around here i know you'll love."

you couldn't believe you forgot. it was your birthday! all the running around and adult duties you've been busy with had made you lose track.

once again, you glanced your phone to check the time and it was eight o'clock sharp. nick - the punctual man that he is - would be there in exactly one hour and thirty minutes.

you went to the kitchen first, snacking on some fruit as breakfast. you didn't want to fill up too much, knowing that since nick was taking you out, you guys would probably go to a restaurant anyways. then you went to the bathroom and brushed your teeth - getting mildly irritated when you looked at the sink and saw that your toothbrush and toothpaste weren't there like they should, they were still in your toiletry bag with your bath products - you took all of those out and put them in their proper place in the bathroom, then did your business.

you were done fairly quickly, with five minutes to spare so you could catch your breath, but they passed by and just as fast, you heard nick knocking on your door.

you stood up from the coach, grabbing your bag and opening the door to a widely smiling nick. "happy birthday!" he approached you and gave you a hug, which you returned.

"where are the others?" you didn't want to be rude but you and the rest of the elite were like the three musketeers - well, four musketeers - and it was unlike them to show up without the other two when spending time with each other.

his face dropped. "they're kinda busy right now." but you knew him well enough. you knew that he was lying and that they probably forgot. you couldn't blame them, though. they were these big time wrestlers now, after all. you had nick with you and that's a lot.

still, you smiled and nodded, before telling him to lead the way.

as promised, you and him had tons of fun. having friends who traveled the world certainly had its perks. he knew all the spots you would enjoy, just like he said. especially, you were glad that he was able to take your mind off of the fact that the other boys forgot your birthday.

the day ended far too soon and when it hit four thirty, nick said that you guys had to leave the amusement park you were currently in so he could drive you to your house. that didn't mean he was gonna let you be sad though. the drive to your new place was one you certainly enjoyed. it was full of laughter, light-hearted banter, and singing along on the radio. you were reminded of how much you throughly missed this.

it couldn't last forever, though and by five fifty nine, you've reached your house. nick - ever the gentleman - opened the door for you and walked you to your door.

with one of your hands on the doorknob, you turned to him. "hey, the drive from mine to yours is pretty far, do you wanna rest in here for a while? we can order some takeout or something." you shrugged your shoulders.

he smiled and nodded at that, seemingly bouncing on his heels for some reason, and he had a tight-lipped smile on, blue eyes as bright as you've ever seen them. you just shook your head at him before entering your way-too-dark house.

nick immediately followed you in and closed the door, but the darkness made you feel uneasy. you felt around for the light switch, or him, or anything, really. you were still unfamiliar with the new house though, and you failed at feeling for nick but after a while, you grasped something promising: the light switch!

you couldn't flick it on soon enough and when you did, you let out the biggest gasp of your life. your living room was decorated head-to-toe with streamers and balloons. there was also a big banner, front and center that read "happy birthday [y/n]!!!". on the coffee table was all your favorite food, a cake, and most importantly, in the room were people who you thought forgot about your special day, your family and friends, and your boys, kenny and matt were there too, with nick standing next to them with a big grin on his face that still managed to look a bit sheepish.

"happy birthday [y/n]!" they all cheered in unison as your boys went up to you.

"you really didn't think we'd forget about your birthday, huh?"
