"I feel like I'm in Sleeping Beauty," Jarim commented as her, Sora and Taehee admired the traditional house in front of them.
The entire village belonged to the Royal Family and considering that there were only three more days until the big day, Queen Gowoon had insisted that the bride's party stay at their residence.
Jeongin, Jinhyuck and their father were still in the main city of Seoul, and they were to finish off preparations there.
Jarim had also been surprised to find Hyunjin text her a few days previously as regards to doing well during the engagement ceremony. For some reason, the engineering student's heart had fluttered when he had written "You did well,".
Yeji was to arrive at the residence the next day, her trip to Paris not being suspended, claiming that she needed to buy wedding gifts as well. Jarim tried not to think of what the girl would end up giving the couple, but she knew that Yeji did not do things half-way.
It had been reported that Yeji had gifted her Aunt Soyeon a Ferrari California T as a wedding gift, and it had been the gossip of the century after Soyeon was seen driving it around the Royal Estate, a smirk upon her face.
"It's beautiful," Sora murmered as the three women began to explore their surroundings.
It was a Korean traditional house with modern aspects. A blossom tree was stationed in the garden, in full bloom. Plants and trees adorned the house and the occassional butterflies flew around.
Jarim felt like she was in a fairytale as her and Sora took a seat on the bench in the garden as Taehee bustled around in the kitchen, deciding to make some tea.
"If you're Sleeping Beauty," Sora smiled slyly. "Then, Hyunjin's your Prince Phillip, right?"
Jarim hummed softly, her gaze upon a pink rose in the garden.
"'Once upon a dream'" Jarim said softly as the girl beside her shook her head in amusement.
...
Back at the palace, Hyunjin was eyeing his suit for the wedding, all of his best friends around him, not paying attention to the Prince.
"D'you think I should dye my hair blue for the occasion?" Jisung asked, staring at himself in Hyunjin's mirror.
"If you go blue," Minho joined the squirrel-like boy. "Then I might dye mine,"
"I'm staying blond," Felix declared to no-one in particular. "Seungmin, are you staying purple or- "
"I can't be asked to dye mine," The puppy-like boy shook his head. "Besides, there's only three more days until the wedding,"
"Changbin hyung, Chan hyung, are you two staying with black hair?" Jeongin asked the two bodyguards, the younger of the two pouting.
"We can't dye our hair," Changbin sulked. "Part of the rules,"
"If I could," Chan said thoughtfully. "Then I'd probably go blond,"
"Ah, but why is our groom standing so silently?" Jisung slung an arm around Hyunjin.
"It's probably the nerves," Felix smirked as Jeongin nodded. "Are you nervous?"
Hyunjin was quiet for a minute, assessing his thoughts about the situation at hand. "I'm not particularly anxious," He began. "To be honest, I'm pretty calm,"
"Really?" Seungmin frowned. "Most people freak out even a few days before the wedding,"
"Then he'll lose the plot on the day of the wedding," Minho muttered as the boys chuckled.
"Maybe it's because it's Jarim you're marrying," Chan suggested. "If it was someone that you didn't know, or wasn't particularly fond of, then maybe you'd feel a bit more nervous,"
"Maybe," Hyunjin shrugged.
"Then, you'll look forward to the wedding," Changbin leaned on one of the posts of the four-poster bed.
It was at that moment where Hyunjin's breath hitched. He felt extremely guilty for lying to his best friends, particularly Jeongin.
"About that," Hyunjin swallowed, not knowing how the boys would react to his sudden declaration. "I made this thing with Jarim,"
A few of the boys exchanged confused glances with each other.
"What thing?" Seungmin asked slowly.
"Uh, I may have made a Marriage Contract with Jarim,"
The room descended into silence before Jeongin stood up, fox-eyes looking furious.
"What do you mean a Marriage Contract, hyung?" The youngest glared as Jisung and Felix nervously gripped his hand.
"That - that we're only to be wed for six months, until I get the crown," Hyunjin hung his head low, eyes closed as his friends took in the full extent of the Prince's words.
"And, Jarim agreed to it?" Minho questioned as the blond nodded.
"You're an idiot," Chan said helplessly as Changbin exhaled sharply. "Imagine what Jarim's thinking. That poor girl is getting married to you because she couldn't possibly say no,"
"Call off the wedding!" Jisung said in a low tone.
"We can't do that," Jeongin sat down, defeated. "That would destroy everyone, Jarim noona included. Besides, words already out,"
"Then you promise us one thing, Hyunjin," Felix looked at the Prince whose eyes were still cold, but the boys knew that he was slightly ashamed of himself.
"What?"
"That no matter what, you won't hurt Jarim," Felix said softly. "She's so sweet towards everyone, she doesn't deserve to be hurt,"
"I-I promise,"
...
The big day had arrived.
The Royal Residence was in frenzy as everyone rushed around to prepare for the wedding which was scheduled to take place at exactly 11AM. Jarim was in a room as her mother, Sora, Yeji and a numerous number of attendants bustled around her, sorting out her dress and make-up.
The make-up artists had transformed her into an ethreal being. Jarim's wedding dress had been specially flown in from Italy, custom-designed by Valentino. The sleeves were adorned with soft lace and above the boat neckline sat a gorgeous necklace. Swarovski crystals were embellished into the gown.
Her normally messy hair was coaxed into soft curls as the stylist worked wonders.
Once the final touches were done, they all took a step back, admiring their work as Jarim looked at herself.
She had no clue who the girl in the mirror was and Jarim let out an excited squeal.
She looked breathtaking.
...
Hyunjin was already inside the Royal Cathedral, tapping his foot almost anxiously as his best friends smirked besides him.
Jisung had dyed his hair blue as stated, and the rest of the boys had kept their original hair colours. Jeongin was lightly patting Hyunjin, having forgiven the older boy.
"I told you he was going to lose it on the actual day, didn't I?" Minho whispered as they eyed the Prince's nerved state.
"M'not nervous," Hyunjin mumbled as the guests trickled in.
"Sure you aren't," Seungmin said dryly.
Suddenly, the pianos began to play and all of South Korea held their breaths as the ceremony began.
The doors opened to reveal Yang Daesung, holding his daughter's arms as they gracefully walked down the aisle.
Holy sh*t, she looks stunning, Hyunjin thought to himself as she approached him.
The Marshal pressed a gentle kiss to Jarim's cheeks before she moved towards the alter, sending a soft smile towards Hyunjin, who offered one in return, confusing the girl slightly.
The ceremony went smoothly and as they exchanged vows, both Jarim and Hyunjin felt the butterflies in their stomach.
"And I declare you, man and wife. You may kiss the bride,"
Jarim swallowed as Hyunjin gently lifted the veil that covered her face. Their eyes met and Jarim couldn't tell what the Prince was feeling or thinking. Hyunjin cupped the Jarim's cheeks and the girl felt herself blush as he leaned closer before their lips finally met.
Well, that was her first kiss gone.
