Chapter 26
Judy, Cas, and Sam had all arrived during the middle of the night to a park. Judy had been filled in by Sam that at certain parks there was a gateway to Heaven.
"Odd they'd choose a park."
She muttered causing Sam to glance at her. As they rounded the corner a man somewhat startled Judy as she hasn't been paying attention.
"That's far enough Castiel."
The man said knowing their angel friend which lead Judy to believe that this wasn't a man, but an angel as well.
"Excuse me?"
Cas questioned.
"I have orders. You aren't allowed upstairs."
Sam arched a brow.
"Says who?"
The angel looked at Sam.
"Hold, please."
The angel asked. Judy stood there her eyes turning to the sand box as it lit up. A circle of some sort was etched into the sand and the angel vanished through the mouth of the man while another one replaced it.
The glowing settled as the transfer seemed to be complete.
Judy watched as the man smiled and greeted Castiel and then the angel called the other by name.
"Hanna."
Judy's eyes snapped to the back of Cass's head. Was this the same angel that Cass had spoken about a few times prior? The very one that had helped him the best they could? Feeling a twinge of jealousy starting to surge through her chest she remained silent and listened.
"I swore I'd never occupy another vessel but, we need to have this conversation face to face."
"What conversation?"
The curious tone in Cas's voice told her that he was just as clueless as the rest of them.
"What do you want in Heaven?"
"Metatron."
"Why? Is this about your grace? Are you fading?"
The concern in their voice caused Judy to inhale deeply, but quietly. She stood there with the jealously toward the other angel slowly growing. Thankfully Sam was oblivious to her manner as he too was focused on the conversation.
"I'm fine for now."
"This is about my brother."
Sam said stepping forward.
"Because you think Metatron might have information about the Mark of Cain?"
"No. We know he does."
Castiel said. Hanna looked at Cas a frown coming to his face.
"So he says, but Metatron lies."
"Hanna, we just want to talk with him."
Sam begged.
"No you want his help. But we both know the only way Metatron helps you is if he's free. And I can't let the scribe out of his cell. Not again, he's too dangerous."
"We won't -- "
"Yes you will. Because you're desperate."
Hanna said shutting down Castiel's words as he tried to speak. Judy frowned looking between everyone. If Hanna wasn't willing to let them see Metatron, then how were they suppose to help Dean? And even more so how were they suppose to help Nikki?
"After all I've done for Heaven..."
Suddenly as Castiel began to speak other angels slowly started walking out of the treeline. Judy slid closer to Sam as they approached. There was about four of them now walking toward their small group. Judy swallowed nervously not knowing if she was going to have to fight them or not.
"After all I've done for you?"
"I'm sorry."
"You should be."
Castiel spat. Sam reached out and placed his hand on Cas's shoulder causing the angel to turn toward the two of them.
"Cass, let's go."
Sam said turning on his own along with Judy to follow, and started to walk away from the group of four angels.
"What? We're leaving?"
Castiel questioned as the three of them walked away.
"Yeah. We can't fight off four angels."
"So -- so what? We're just gonna give up on Metatron?"
Judy asked as Sam glanced over his shoulder.
"No. We need him. Time for plan "B". We break him out."
Sam said as the trio made their way back to the car. Judy tagged along beside Sam glancing his way.
"And how do you plan on doing that?"
"Well, it won't be easy, but I do have a plan."
Sam said as Castiel caught back up with them after his short stop from a slight shock given by Sam's words.
"I know of a man in the area who could help. Only thing is we need to convince him to help us."
"And this man is?"
Course she was curious as to who this was that their little group was going to have to recrute.
"So back in the 50's Oliver Pryce was a kid psychic. He performed everywhere carnivals, Atlantic city -- you name it."
Sam said as they reached the car and climbed inside. He was in the drivers seat this time with Judy in the back and Cas in the passenger seat.
"Now the men of letters were teaching him how to control his powers when they got -- well, you know."
"Brutally slaughtered?"
Cas chimed in making Judy and Sam flinch a bit. Turning over the car Sam sighed as he pulled out of the park parking lot.
"The point is he's one of the good guys. And he might be happy to see us."
"Or not."
Cass said looking out his window during the drive. Judy frowned if this man was going to help them and it was their plan "B" shot she didn't really know what else they could do if their plan fell through.
It sisnt take long for the three of them to wind up in front of this man's house. And of course as Cas had guessed it wasn't going to be very easy.
"It says Keep Out."
Judy mentioned seeing the large gates with the bright yellow signs attached to them. Sam and Cas just looked at her as they both were stopped on the side walk across the street from the home.
"We still have to try."
Sam said as he motioned for them to follow. Judy looked at Cas's back as he followed after Sam. A twisting sensation in the pit of her stomach occurred as they walked across the street. Walking up the sidewalk and to the house Sam knocked on the door.
"Mr. Pryce."
Sam waited for a minute and there was no answer so he knocked again.
"Oliver Pryce!"
His voice a bit louder this time.
"I'll break it down."
Castiel commented in which Sam held out his hand asking the angel to chill.
"What? I'm helping."
He pouted.
"Just follow my lead."
Sam asked as he begun knocking again in which the porch light came on.
"Mr. Pryce?"
Sam questioned once more.
"This is Sam -- "
"Winchester."
The door swung open to reveal an aged man who was balding and wore glasses. Dressed in plad and wore a tan open cardigan over top.
"You're Sam Winchester, Man of Letters."
The trio stood there looking shocked at Pryce. Judy shifted a little in the back as Sam asked how he had known that.
"Mind reader remember?"
It was then he turned to look at Castiel.
"And you're -- "
He stopped and looked at the angel for a short second before leaning his head back.
"What are you?"
Cas seemed a little thrown off by this when he looked up at Sam. He then turned his attention back toward Pryce.
"I'm an angel."
"What?"
Pryce questioned taken back.
"No. You can't be."
Castiel arched a brow.
"Why not?"
"Because I'm an atheist!"
He said calmly yet so sure of himself.
"Not anymore."
Sam whispered under his breath. Pryce turned and looked at Judy for a second he just looked at her with perhaps even more shock.
"What... what's happened to.... oh my."
He said looking at her causing the boys to arch a brow.
"What?"
Castiel questioned. Pryce looked at her and she at him. He cleared his throat a little and shook his head.
"No. No. No. Nope. I will not. No."
He said as he begun to shut the door. Judy looked somewhat frantic as Sam placed his hand on the door quickly.
"Wait. Wait. Wait. Hold up what's wrong?"
Pryce shook his head and pointed toward Judy.
"She has much more baggage than I want in my home. Pain. Suffering. And... her cousin's a -- no. No I'm sorry but whatever you wanted I'm not -- "
"Mr. Pryce! We didn't come for... that?"
Sam said glancing back at Judy, who had taken a step back and was looking extremely awkward. He turned his head back forward toward the old man. Even Castiel glanced over his shoulder at the woman behind him.
"Please, let us inside and we'll explain."
Sam said as he opened the door a little bit more. Pryce allowing the trio inside his home.
