Chapter 23

When Jimin returned to the studio after two hours, he relaxed a little seeing Jungkook leading the shoot. The work was going smooth and the staff looked more relieved than anything.

He would be lying if he said he wasn't tensed when Taehyung didn't reply to any of his messages later. He caught Robert's gaze and the photographer jerked his head toward the breakroom with an assuring smile.

Jimin hurried to the breakroom and a relieved breath escaped his mouth when he saw Katy snuggled in Tae's lap. Fucking finally.

She was asleep and Tae lifted his head, greeting with a small smile. He wordlessly handed Katy's phone to him and gestured him to read. Jimin headed to her messages and scrolled through the recent texts. Damn.

His gaze locked with Tae's briefly and he nodded. Jimin pulled his phone out and fired a text to Posh, with the screenshot.

Jimin [9:45:06 PM]:

Why would you do this, Posh?

[Screenshot attached]

He pocketed the phone. "I'll be outside," he said softly.

Tae nodded, still running a hand over Katy's back in a soothing gesture.

Jimin joined Robert, monitoring the shots. Jungkook was definitely on a different level. He could see Katy's concept but Jungkook added his own flair to it and made it something alluring.

"Your new boy is good," Robert whispered after a while. "I think I can head back after the show now he's here. We have a few new projects and I can give a hand to Johnny."

Jimin nodded thoughtfully. "You need to talk to Jeoni. We don't know if Jungkook will stick around for the drama shoot."

"Oh, he isn't going anywhere," Robert snickered. "That boy has fire and is full of passion. He's in this for a long run I tell you."

"I hope so." Jimin crossed his hands across his chest. "So what happened when I was gone?"

"Jungkook spoke to Katy and the rest is history. One moment she was all grumpy and the next she was going to the breakroom with that pouty look. I swear this boy has something over her. She goes all soft for him."

Jimin glanced over Robert for a moment. The photographer was one of the first to sign up with Vinora and had been with them for over three years. He was close enough to consider a friend. "That boy is her little brother."

Robert's eyes widened. "Wow. That explains a lot. I didn't know she had a brother."

"No one does," Jimin said. "He's her half-brother. And keep this between us."

"Of course." Robert made a zipping gesture with his fingers over his mouth. "They get along well."

Jimin nodded. He couldn't deny the bond between them. Though Jungkook didn't know who she was, there was something in his gaze every time he looked at her. Jimin saw pure admiration and something more. Was it affection? He couldn't tell for sure.

His phone pinged with texts.

Posh [10:40:35 PM]:

OMG

I meant gag reels

not reflex

stupid fucking autocorrect

I swear Minnie

I wouldn't do that to her

Jimin [10:41:02 PM]:

Good luck explaining that to her

and you know what's coming, don't you?

It was nice knowing you baby

Posh [10:42:20 PM]:

Don't say like that

Shit

It was a genuine mistake

Jimin [10:42:55 PM]:

A mistake you'll pay for

I wonder what she has in store for you

Don't complain when it happens though

Posh [10:43:10 PM]:

Fuck I hate this

Jimin [10:44:01 PM]:

You should

Jimin laughed more relieved. He had been right. It was a mistake, but the damage was done. He had no doubt they'll make up before going to bed. They never let their fights see a sunrise. But Katy always got back. He smiled to himself.

It was going to be fun.

The shoot continued and soon Jungkook was announcing that they could wrap up. He saw the models thanking him and heading to change. Jungkook checked the images carefully before continuing to pack the equipment.

He was so meticulous and well-organized, giving all his attention to the task at hand. Jimin admired quality. He'd be lying if he said he didn't like Jungkook. Katy was right. He liked the boy since he was seven and saw his photo for the first time.

Katy had squealed when he said her brother was cute. He couldn't take that bunny smile off his mind for weeks after that. Katy had let him keep the photo with a smile. Over the years, his affection only grew as he saw the boy growing up. He was the one who helped her pick suitable gifts.

Jimin knew he kept Jungkook at an arm's length since he joined Vinora. He thought it was the right thing to do. Getting feelings involved will only complicate the situation. It was fucked up as it is and he liked to keep it that way.

With a sigh, he stood, texting Tae that the shoot was over. Jungkook had done packing and was putting the bags aside for their driver to take away when Katy and Tae came out.

Jungkook straightened, a soft smile brightening his features. "Hey..."

Katy blinked her weary eyes, glancing around and then at the packed bags. Her shoulders relaxed and the next thing he knew she was walking to Jungkook, wrapping her hands around his middle. The youngest looked startled at first, but as Jimin watched, he hugged her back.

Did he

He did.

Jungkook kissed the top of her head. There was that look again in his eyes. Not admiration but affection. Jimin thought he saw tears in Jungkook's eyes. But he blinked once and it was gone. Katy had her face buried in his chest while he rested his chin on top of her head. The hug itself was intimate, the embrace more protective than a normal hug. Jimin's gaze briefly locked with Tae, who looked equally stunned at the exchange.

Something had shifted between them. The way Jungkook spoke something gently in her ears, the way Katy nodded gently, the way he rocked them side to side...

Jimin inched closer, wanting to hear their conversation.

"Everything's gonna be okay," he heard Jungkook whisper.

"Thank you."

"I won't let him walk away from you."

She nodded. "You'll be there, right?"

"Yeah. I'll stay closer. He doesn't know I work here yet."

"He's gonna be mad at you."

Jungkook chuckled. "Hobi hyung can never be mad at me. I'm his baby."

Katy laughed at that. "You're my baby too. Ah, I mean...I—"

Jungkook hummed. "I won't have it any other way." His eyes widened as if he said something he shouldn't. "You're married to my hyung. I mean...it's only fair I get the same treatment from my sister." His nose scrunched up into that adorable smile. "I'll have to warn you though. I'm very picky and love pampering. I can be a handful."

Katy relaxed at that. "I think I can handle that. Oh, God! Wait until I tell Aera, she's gonna spoil you rotten." She chuckled, clutching his hand tighter. "Thanks, Kookie. Really. For everything."

"Anything for you, Noona."

When they parted, Katy was relaxed with a genuine smile. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah." Jungkook still had his arm around her. "You're not getting rid of me."

"I'm not planning to."

Jungkook nodded, stepping back. His hands fell to his sides. "Good night, noona."

Did Jimin imagine that or was there really a softness to the way he addressed her this time? Jimin shook his head and when his gaze locked with Taehyung, he realized he didn't imagine it.

"Good night, Kookie."

Jungkook turned to them briefly, saying goodbye and bowing before heading out. Katy followed him. "I'll be in the car," she said over his shoulder.

"What was that?" Tae hissed. "You saw that too, didn't you?"

"I did." Jimin stared at the direction they disappeared. "Robert said that Jungkook spoke to Jeoni before she came to you."

Tae frowned. "And he knows about Hobi."

"What did they talk about?"

Tae shrugged. "She told me she's gonna come clean to Jungkook about the texts." His frown deepened. "Do you think this has something to do with their chat?"

"Something has obviously changed." Jimin pondered. "Maybe it's because Jungkook is a close friend of Hoseok and wants them to be together."

"Nah." Tae shrugged. "There's more to this. You must have missed the way Jungkook tried to hide his tears. Why would he get so emotional if she was just his friend's wife? And why would he address her as his sister? Shouldn't he call her sister-in-law?"

"I noticed that too. He has never been open to showing affection to anyone." Jungkook had always shied away and even the hugs he gave to Katy and Porshiya before were reserved. It never lasted for more than five seconds. But today, Jungkook had held her and he got emotional.

Jimin pinched his bottom lip between his fingers. "Let's keep an eye on him."

"Yeah and don't tell the others now. You know they can't keep secrets from each other."

Jimin agreed. Did Jungkook suspect something? He tapped his fingers thoughtfully. He will find out.

When they returned home thirty minutes later, Porshiya embraced Katy into a bone-crushing hug.

"I'm so sorry, boo. It was a stupid auto-correct. You know I'd never do that to you."

"I know I'm sorry too. For not talking about it to you."

"I love you so much, boo."

"I love you too."

Jimin sighed in relief. The day's tension was drained just like that. Communication was very important in any type of relationship. Not talking only led to misunderstandings and pain. He was glad they established that after their very first fight. Mama Min always stressed that they should talk whenever they disagreed with something. They should never try to hide things from each other when it concerned them. They followed her advice to this day.

The girls stayed in each other's embrace for a while swaying from side to side. The front door opened with a bang and they jumped apart, eyes going wide as Porshiya muttered, "Oh, fuck!"

Katy and the others shared a knowing look.

"Dinner," Katy said quickly hurrying to the table. They all followed awaiting the thunder to strike them anytime now.

"Who the fuck ratted out?" Jimin hissed under his breath. "I told them not to breath a word."

"You know the staff," Tae reasoned. "They'd have called her the moment shit hit the storm."

"Fuck! She's gonna kill us."

"Or worse, she'll stop talking for a week," Katy mumbled.

It was chaos as they set the plates and shoveled food in record time, making it look as if they were eating and having a good time. But Jimin knew Aera would see right through them, no matter how hard they tried. After all, they were doing this for years. Aera had a temper of an active volcano, but the worst was she talked less and acted more.

"I leave you for a week and this is what you do!" Her voice reached them even before she appeared in the kitchen. Namjoon hovered with an apologetic look that said 'I tried.'

Everyone turned to face Aera. Jimin could imagine a hot puff of steam coming out of her ears. She was fuming, the red tips of her ears were proof enough.

"What was that in the studio today? How old are you all? Five?" Aera glared at them with her hands firmly planted on her hip. "You." She pointed at Porshiya. "Shouldn't you be the mature one?"

"Hey, you were in this too," Porshiya pouted.

"I didn't tell you to ask him about his gag reflex! God, you're embarrassing." Aera threw her hands in the air. "I'm already struggling and I'm doing everything alone at office while you guys are enjoying. I'm this close to losing my shit. The last thing I need is someone calling me to tell me that Jeoni is chewing everyone's head. Do I look like her babysitter? Why can't you act like grownups for once?"

"We sorted it out," Katy mumbled.

"Huh?" Aera cocked her brow. "Did you say something?"

"I said I missed you," Katy replied.

Aera narrowed her eyes. "I didn't. You're all banned from my room for a week. Don't talk to me." She pivoted on her heel ignoring the multiple calls and pleas. A loud bang of door slamming shut reached them making them crinch.

Namjoon's shoulder sagged. "I'm sorry guys." He shook his head and turned to leave.

"Oppa, wait." Katy jumped off her chair rushing to him. "I got something for you."

"For me?" Namjoon frowned.

Katy rushed to the refrigerator, pulling out Aera's favorite chocolate bar. "Give this to her and oh, draw her a hot bath with a lavender bath bomb. That'll calm her down. After that bring dinner to her room."

Namjoon rolled his eyes. "I'll give her the chocolate. As for the bath and dinner, I'll try if she didn't kick me out."

A mischievous smile spread on Katy's face and Jimin quirked a brow shooting a look at Taehyung. She lifted on her tiptoes, cupping her mouth as she reached for his ears. Namjoon's ears grew red and he gaped when she giggled and hopped back to her seat. He stood in the middle of the kitchen, blinking a few times before collecting himself, and gave them a jerky nod. He even stumbled a few times on his way back to the room and the others turned to Katy.

"Care to explain?" Porshiya poked Katy's side. "What did you say to poor Joonie that got him all flustered like that?"

Katy shrugged. "I may or may not have told him that I stocked their bedside drawer with condoms."

"What the—" Porshiya's eyes widened.

"It's no big deal. He's often clueless so I might have slipped a few tips to end their abstinence," Katy continued.

"You're fucking shameless." Porshiya shook her head. "Don't get me involved in this, especially tomorrow morning when she comes for your head."

Katy only shrugged and dug into her food. "Those two idiots need it."

"Jeoni...isn't this a bit too much?" Taehyung asked, a bit perplexed.

"You're acting as if I'm forcing them into this." Katy lifted a brow. "I merely planted an idea in his head. Whatever they do is all on them. They're two adults who is capable of making their own decisions. If Aera kicked him out, then that's it. As I said, I don't control their actions or decisions, I influence them...in a positive way."

Jimin chuckled. She was right. Only Katy could get through Aera's stubborn head. Aera didn't like when someone intervened in her life or the decisions she made, but Katy always found a way to crack through her exterior and make her see reason. Sometimes, Aera gave up too quickly, shut herself from the others. But Katy never let her give up. She always brought her back. Jimin knew Katy tried to stay away from their marital life. But he also witnessed what that led to. They almost called it quits.

Taehyung shook his head. "You haven't changed a bit," he snickered. "It's a shame you're a pro when it comes to other's romantic lives and for your own, you're nothing but a snail, always hiding in your shell."

And just like that the conversation took a lighter note, everyone teasing Katy.

Katy pouted. "You just watch. I'm gonna sweep him off his feet when I meet him again."

"Or he will sweep you off your feet," Jimin intervened. "Give him some credit, Jeoni. He managed to marry you in a matter of a week. You barely stood a chance."

"Hey! That was different. I wasn't ready then."

"So, now you're ready?" Porshiya asked.

"Of course, I am."

"Alright, guys. Hundred bucks that our little Jeoni will turn into a bumbling mess when she's face to face with her Hobi again." Porshiya dug her purse that was discarded on the table and placed a hundred dollar bill on the table.

"I second that." Jimin dug his wallet out, pulling a hundred dollar bill.

"I third that." He turned to Jimin. "Put another hundred for me. I'll pay you later."

Jimin placed the bill on the table as Katy hunted down a bowl from the cabinet. She then proceeded to add a hundred dollar bill of her own. "This is all mine after the show."

"Overconfidence is not good for health," Porshiya teased.

"Good thing I don't have it," Katy retorted. "I, in fact, lack the very basic ingredient. But I know I'm gonna win this round."

"We know you'll win but the bet is that you'll be either tongue-tied or you'll turn into a stuttering blushing mess in his presence," Taehyung countered.

"We'll see," Katy said nonchalantly.

Jimin put the bowl on top of their refrigerator. "Alright, eat now. We have a long day tomorrow. If Aera didn't kill Jeoni by the morning that is."

"Stop saying that and you'll thank me later. You always do."

Jimin shrugged. "I'm just reminding you, our thanks won't save you from her rage."

"I can handle her."

Jimin shared another look with Taehyung who laughed in response. Tae lowered his voice as he leaned to Jimin, "They're both so much alike. I swear Aera is gonna drop a bomb tomorrow. Just wait."

"I can't wait for tomorrow morning." Jimin grinned.
