Chapter 1
Ravenkit leaped on a rock.
"Mom look what I did!" He squealed.
Lilystripe, his mother looked over at him. She didn't say a word.
Ravenkit leaped off, and approached her.
"Are you okay? The small kit asked as his silent mother, his red orbs expanding. A low mumble was heard. "What was that?"
"Get away from me demon!" She hissed at him. She walked away from the nursery, fur bristling. Ravenkit frowned.
"Come back." He mewed silently. A tail touched his back gently.
"It's okay, Ravenkit. Your mother is out of her mind right now. She should love a kit as strong, and mighty as you. Come here, play with my kits." A soft voice comforted Ravenkit.
"Thanks Goldenfur." Ravenkit meowed happily as he curled in with the queen. He looked at Harekit, Rosekit, and Lightkit.
"Your the fox, and Rosekit and I will be the warriors!" Harekit declared as he bounced up and down.
"Your going down!" Lightkit squeaked. The kits got ready to fight. Before they could begin Ravenkit stepped forwards.
"Can I join in?" He asked.
Rosekit was the first to reply. "Sure join in! You can be a fox."
"Wait!" Harekit yowled. "A cursed kit can't join our game. Do you want to endanger our family?" Ravenkit stepped back, hurt.
"You actually listen to the rumors? Let him play. Come on Ravenkit you can be a fox." Lightkit invited the kit.
"Fine! But it's your fault if anything happens."
"Thanks guys! You won't regret having me as a friend." Ravenkit exclaimed happily as he joined the kits.
Lightkit stepped forwards. "Grr I'm a fox and I'm here to hurt your clan!" He growled.
"You can try! But you have to go through us first." Harekit responded.
"Your going down!" Ravenkit meowed dramatically.
"What's all this talk? I'm going to shred you!" Rosekit screeched as she launched her agile body forwards. Harekit darted towards Lightkit. Ravenkit bowled forwards towards Rosekit. They vanished into a ball of fur.
They rolled out of the ball, panting.
"The runts are playing! Look over here, Foxkit."
The 3 kits turned around.
"Get lost Riftkit. At least we train while you just send your fat body to the fresh-kill pile." Lightkit hissed.
"What did you call me?" Riftkit asked.
"Fat! Your fat." Lightkit replied. Ravenkit and the rest laughed.
"You'll pay for that!" The cat growled as he bowled Lightkit over faster then a bird and shoved his paws over his throat. "Watch what you say."
"Your fatness is hurting me!" He snorted.
Ravenkit, Rosekit, and Harekit leaped on Riftkit's back trying to get him off. He shook them off furiously.
"Get off Riftkit. There's no point in fighting." A different voice meowed. Riftkit quickly stopped. Lightkit sat up with a cough.
"Sorry Foxkit I'll try making better decision." Riftkit apologized to the oldest tom.
"You let the smaller kits get a hold of you like that? I thought you could do better." Foxkit hissed. Riftkit apologized again.
"What a waste of training!" Harekit meowed loudly.
"Sorry about this cat. I have a ceremony to get ready for." Foxkit dipped his head and scurried away towards his mother, Burnpelt. Riftkit padded away, head down.
"Who made him leader?" Rosekit whispered to them annoyed.
"At least one nuisance is leaving this den." Ravenkit pointed out.
"I think his ceremony is starting. Lets watch it." Harekit meowed as he headed for the nursery exit. Ravenkit followed just to get shoved aside.
"Get out the way runt!" Riftkit hissed as he pushed forwards. Ravenkit hissed.
"All cats old enough to catch a sparrow gather beneath Tall Stump for a clan meeting!" Berrystar yowled. All the warriors including the queens, and elders gathered beneath the stump like a herd of sheep. "Foxkit has reached the age of 6 moons, the age of apprenticeship. From this moment on he will be known as Foxpaw. Your mentor will be Eagleflight." A broad shouldered tom walked out from the crowd and touched noses with Foxpaw. "I trust the skills passed down to you by Leafclaw. Lead Foxpaw well. Clan dismissed!"
"Whoa he's so lucky to be mentored by dad!" Rosekit meowed.
"I wish that was me!" Harekit added.
"I want to be mentored by Berrystar himself." Lightkit awed.
"Why is it so important to see who will mentor you?" Ravenkit asked.
"Their the cats who will teach you skills you know. I don't want a weak cat like Pollenwhisker to mentor me." Harekit snorted.
"Pollenwhisker is a fine cat, and you should be glad if she is your mentor." Goldenfur called.
"Who do you want your mentor to be Ravenkit?" Harekit questioned. The kit froze.
"Maybe Breezeheart." He thought out loud.
"That's a odd cat. I mean he's so anti social. It's not like he'd want an apprentice. Why would you want a quiet mentor?" Rosekit asked.
"I kinda admire him. He can ignore negativity, and is respected. I'd be a honor to have him mentor me." The kit meowed.
"I'm getting us a squirrel to eat." Lightkit meowed as he leaped down from the nursery.
"We got a new nest for you." Rosekit guided Ravenkit to a soft nest.
"Wow thanks!" Ravenkit purred.
"No problem! Welcome to your new family. We'll treat you better then Lilystripe did!" She purred back.
"I see Lightkit coming back. We better eat." Harekit yowled. The trio helped Lightkit lift the squirrel up. As they gossiped and ate the squirrel together Ravenkit felt something new. It bubbled inside of his chest. It was happiness.

"Berrystar if we're going to Glistening Stone then we have to go now." Mintleaf urged her leader.
"Okay, okay! I'm coming." He replied.
As they traveled across Marshclan, and Frozenclan the rain seemed to be getting harder.
"Okay. We're here." Mintleaf panted. The rain had stiffened their bones making it harder to walk.
"Thanks." Berrystar thanked the young medicine cat.
"Touch your nose to the stone and close your eyes." She instructed more seriously. Berrystar did as she instructed. He slept.
Berrystar POV
It was colder than snow. What was this? I took one step forwards. I felt like I was walking in a nastier version of the marsh. I looked down and revolted back as I realized it was the inside of a corpse.
"Claws of the raven stain cursed by generations reek death of a betrayal of Maple of a ragged choice of a trap. Fate and lies align up to inevitable destruction of recarnation. It is stained with black and blood eyes."
