Snake Fangs

We write the year 3050 BC. It was a quiet time. For one no tasks were given to our two favourite earthly agents from heaven and hell.

So, what other to do, than enjoy the beautiful scenery of earth, the food and the company of these fascinating people they were surrounded with?

It was a small village and quite lovely volks, Crowley found himself in. He had acquainted a caravan of travelling people a few minutes prior and they had promised fun. Now that they were setting up camp in the outskirts of the village, he stole himself away to get a better look around. When he returned from his short trip around the small streets and their surroundings, they had started a roaring fire. They played instruments and danced, while others were chatting and cooking. It was enticing. So, who was he to refuse, when a girl handed him an alcoholic beverage?

The night was fun, but exhausting, he had been travelling the past few weeks around the globe. Therefore, when he saw an opening, he escaped unnoticed behind some of the outer carts. Taking a deep breath, he walked a bit around, before sitting down on the steps of one of the wagons.

His gaze found its way to the stars, which were shining brightly this night. He longed to be there among them, among his creations but they were out of his reach, but beautiful none the less..

The moment was ruined, when one of the girls found him. She was quite drunk and started flirting with him within a heartbeat. Not a word from him could make her drunk approaches stop. She was quite persistent. Crowley just couldn't seem to get away, his own alcohol fogged mind couldn't come up with a solution. She got closer and closer and in an inattentive moment she pulled him in, her lips touching his. The girl was surprising strong for her fragile stature and the demon was taken by surprise. Then everything happened very fast.

Without hesitation she tried to deepen the kiss. Crowley panicked. That wasn't something he had in mind when he came out here. It was more of a reflex than everything else, that he bit down when her tongue entered his mouth. The moment his fangs dug into her flesh he realised the situation down to the smallest detail. Through the alcohol and his panic his fangs were extended more than normally, his glasses were lost sometime during his struggle and her eyes shone in pure surprise and fear, before she shoved him away. Staggering a few steps back her eyes wide, hands flying up to her mouth, before she fainted.

He could only catch her in the last moment before her body collided with the ground.

"Shit! sHiT! SHIT!", he cursed, trying to stay calm. But this was easier said than done when you have an unconscious girl in your arms...

Okay... he had seen many healers throughout time, so maybe he could handle this... Slapping her cheek lightly, he tried to wake her. "Hey! Com'on! I can't have a mob on my back right now. Wake up!"

No reaction.

Laying her down on the grass, Crowley started pacing. Stopping only to check her again. Her condition deteriorated quickly. She was shivering and sweating, her face as pale as a sheet.

"FUCK!", he cussed. This was the moment it finally hit him. He had seen these symptoms very often throughout history and considering what he was...

Unfolding his wings, he made a decision. He needed to get help and there was only one person he trusted. Softly he spoke to her. "It's gonna be ok. I'm right back."

Twirling into the air, he set course to the tavern he knew Aziraphale was staying in. The demon could feel the angel as clear as day. Without wasting time his gaze fixed the window to the room he could feel his friend staying in, not bothering taking the normal entrance. Only last minute he miracled the window open, before crashing into the room.

"AZIRAPHALE!", he screeched out of breath. The surprised angel occupied the only armchair in the room a book still in his hand. Within seconds he had closed it and stood next to the demon.

"Oh dear! What happened?", he asked worried, checking him all over. The angels fussing warmed the demon's heart. Aziraphale seemed to settle a bit down, when he didn't find any serious injuries on his friend. Still his gaze fixed him distressed. Still the presence of his Angel calmed him down, but with these shining blue eyes on him he felt stupid for this drama.

Shuddering, he let out a sight. He had no time to waste, so he tried to explain the dire situation.

"Well... I... You see... The girl... Ngh" Crossing his arms Zira tapped his foot impatient. "Just spit it out! What is so important to barge in like this in the middle of the night?"

Finally, Crowley caught himself and did tell him the problem as asked of him.

"ThisgirlkissedmeandIbither!", the words finally spilled. Blinking owlish his opposite tried to make sense out of this gibberish. When they sank in the angels' eyes narrowed, his mouth pressed into a thin line, trying not to make a sour face.

"And? Crowley, I am really not the right person to help you when you scared the poor girl off instead of doing whatever..." He sounded rather passive about the incident. Somehow it bothered him quite a bit that the demon made out with this girl. He had thought that these kinds of things weren't his division. And he didn't understand why the demon was here, but he quickly got his answer.

"NO!", Crowley shouted, "She was coming at me and I bit her accidentally! She broke down! I don't know what to do! Please I need help!", he pleaded. His look was haunted and finally Aziraphale realised how dire this all was.

"Oh... Oh dear!", he gasped, "Okay show me to her!"

Relieved the Fallen opened his wings and quickly made his way back to the girl, closely followed by the angel.

When they arrived, her breaths were shallow and her pulse very weak.

"Oh dear!", Aziraphale cursed again, hurrying to her side. "Crowley, she has been poisoned! Did you do this?"

Aggravated he threw his hands up in the air. "I didn't know I was venomous!"

Disbelievingly the angel looked up from his healing. "Really? You are a snake demon my dear... And you want to tell me you didn't know what you were capable of this whole time?" Aziraphale tried to look serious, but he couldn't suppress a small smirk.

The demon in question didn't register any of this. He had gone back to pacing. "NO! Of course not! There is no guide for being a demon and I normally don't go around biting people!", he cried out.

At that Zira couldn't hold back his laughter. Checking the girl once again, before standing up and stopping Crowley. The smile never leaving his face. "Easy now. I understand, we all learn something new every day. I believe you." Hesitant he laid his hand on the redhead's arm.

"I have stabilised her for the moment, but I have to know with what I'm dealing. It's kind of a special case. Then I can make an Antidote. Sadly, I can't heal her completely, Gabriel has restricted my miracles again..." A shadow crossed the Fallen's eyes by the mentioning of that bureaucratic asshole, but it got quickly replaced by worry.

"Sure, but now that I think about it isn't there a better way to make an antidote with the venom? I may not be a healer, but I know my way around snakes."

Nodding Aziraphale weighted his options and agreed. This would be safer, he didn't know how strong the demons venom was and if herbs would even help.

Miracleing a glass and everything he needed the angel stood uncertain in front of his friend. Crowley finally stood still, eying the utensils nervous. A moment before he felt so sure about this, but now he was uncertain about the plan. His eyes wandered to Zira, who was giving him an encouraging smile holding the things out to him.

Taking a deep breath, he shoved his outstretched arms back. Looking everywhere except his eyes he mumbled: "Could you help? I can't see how much is in the glass and you know how much we need..."

Careful the angel cradles the items to his chest smiling softly. "Of course, just tell me what to do."

Finally straightening up he locked eyes with his counterpart. Now there was no time for reluctance. Determined he grabbed Zira's hand with the glass and guided it to his mouth. His gaze never wavering as he bites down on it with his fangs extended.

Reflexively the angel puts his other hand on Crowleys jawline, his thumb gently stroking his cheek. A light blush ghosted both of their faces. This was far too intimidate, but at the same time Crowley wished that this moment would never end and deep down Aziraphale wished the same.

However, the brief moment passed and Zira carefully detached the container. Shortly glancing up with a shy smile, before hurrying to get the Antidote done.

Overcome with a numb calmness, Crowley sat down and watched his Angel work. His hand absentmindedly touching the spot where the others had been moments before.

What a crazy night, yet maybe it was even better than he ever hoped for. In any chase he wouldn't forget it in the near future, if ever.
