Optimus doesn't really mind whether he would be praised or not, but noticing how much Sunset Shimmer keeps giving compliments to the other bots just ticks him off at one point where even he doesn't understand it as well.

" Optimus, " Arcee's voice made the Prime turned around from his work, " it's time for us to pick up the kids from school." she used us to refer she, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and of course, Optimus himself.

The Prime nodded, " Yes, I'll be going with you in a minute."

Optimus Prime was now the guardian of another human who accidentally knew about their existence; Sunset Shimmer. Really, nobody expected it to happen, not when it was literally their Autobot leader's fault; all Optimus did was going out on a short alone drive in a forest, stopped by a lake, transformed, sat down and stared at the cloudy blue sky and didn't exactly noticing a passing by Sunset who also went out in a walk to clear her mind.

She spotted Optimus, shrieked a little, almost fainted when Optimus started talking but other than that, she had been polite while talking to Optimus and chose her words carefully. She had calmed down a bit after a few days knowing the existence of the Autobots. Since Optimus felt like it was his fault, he volunteered himself to be Sunset's guardian until now.

Months passed and Sunset had warmed up with the team; she was very close with the other humans like Jack, Miko and RAF, sometimes they always played video games together. Her relationship with the other bots were friendly and nice, even Ratchet treated her gently but Arcee and Sunset had a friendship where they called only -- girls/femmes -- understand -- these -- stuff and spent lots of times together, talking about how stink boys can be.

Sunset was quite close with Optimus as well since they talked a lot often, even to the point the Prime talked about his old self Orion Pax. As he always sent her back home when it was late already, she would always gave him a thankful smile before they departed. Easy to say, from the relationship of guardian to human turned into best friends or even Sunset -- is -- my -- human relationship.

But recently, having lots of successful missions, Sunset had been praising his comrades -- excepted him.

" Bumblebee! " Sunset had said a few times before, " that was awesome -- back at what you did to the vehicons!"

" Wow, Smokescreen, I don't think I've ever ride something as fast as you are, which is totally cool!"

" Bulkhead, your strength really amazed me!"

" Go, Arcee, show those Decepticons not to mess with somebot as skillful as you are!"

" Thanks, Ratchet. You always fix and heal everything, I wish I could be as great as you are."

" Ultra Magnus, sir, even if you've lost a hand -- er, servo -- I think you were really amazing when fighting the Predacon."

" Oh, Wheeljack, can you teach me how to use swords like you do, which is fascinating, later?"

Everytime she praised the other bots, Optimus silently clenched his servos and raised his eyebrows slightly as he wondered why didn't Sunset praised him like she did to others before snapped out of his thought and scolded himself for feeling like that. What right he had to force the girl to praise him?

But even Optimus had his own limit; one day, he and his team successfully found an empty mine filled with Energon, which they managed to defeated the incoming Decepticons and brought back something you would called enough for a feast.

" -- And you should have seen Optimus!" Smokescreen cheerfully said to Sunset who had been worried about their safety just now, " There were at least 10? 12? I am not sure but totally lots of vehicons surrounding him and he went -- Hiya! and Take that! And the next thing I know was he stood there with defeated vehicons lying on the ground! Isn't he awesome?!" he turned to Bumblebee who whirled in agreement.

Jack and Raf let out amazed praises, which Optimus thankfully nodded at them as Miko kept yelling how cool he was and how regretted she was for not tagging along. The Prime's optics landed on Sunset Shimmer, who looked at him at the same time as well; Optimus waited, slightly excited.

" I am glad you guys are safe," Sunset carved a small smile on her face.

That's it?

Optimus found himself frowning over Sunset's words and he turned to leave the main room. The whole team seemed to sense his change of mood and shifted uneasily as their gazed turned to Sunset, who also looked utterly confused at the change of the Prime's behavior.

" What did you say, Sunset?" Bulkhead started

Sunset replied, " I don't think I said anything offensive -- I just said I am glad you guts are safe."

Suddenly, Miko groaned loudly, " Oh my god! Sunset, you idiot!"

Everyone looked at her in confusion, in which she began to sigh, walked over to Sunset, grabbed her shoulders, looked her seriously in the eyes and said, " Optimus wants to you to praise him!"

" Um -- What?"

" Damn it! Why am I the only one who notice this?" Miko grunted, " Look, I guess it was pretty silly when I started to notice this but then it became really annoying and irritating became you're too oblivious! "

" Miko, Optimus couldn't be possibly feels like that, " Raf said, " I mean, not that he has not feeling but he's just so...rational?"

Ratchet spoke, " Are we even talking about the same Optimus? If yes, then you've gone mental, Miko, for Optimus is a humble bot!"

As everyone started to argue slightly, Sunset said nothing as she stared into the empty space; she, too, actually noticed how much Optimus wanted her to praise him. Then again, she had her own reason not to and now, seeing how much it upsetting Optimus, Sunset had to tell the leader her reason.

Silently sneaking away from everyone else, Sunset headed to Optimus' room. She knocked, hoping he would hear it even if she was actually banging on a giant metal door. Few seconds passed and the door slid opened to reveal a low spirit Optimus who looked down to see Sunset.

" Hey, Optimus, " Sunset began awkwardly, " can I come in?"

A nod from the Prime and Sunset already sprinted into the room, slightly admiring how large everything were. She turned around and saw Optimus had kneel down, servo in front of her. Knowing what he meant, she climbed on and watched as Optimus headed to his berth before sat down and Sunset landed on the berth as well, standing beside him. There was a nervous and tense silence as both of them waited for each other to say something.

" Sunset, " Optimus started, " I apologize for they way I acted just now."

" No, it's not really your fault, " Sunset said, " I mean -- I guess I just didn't notice how much you wanted my praises."

Optimus slightly flinched, " You knew?"

Sunset nodded, " I am sorry for ignoring your...needing of my praises; It's just that -- I don't think any of my praises would satisfy you."

Optimus tilted his helm in confusion and waited Sunset to continued. The red haired girl took a deep breath and looked away.

" In my eyes, you are the most greatest leader I've ever seen, " Sunset sighed, " you're rational, humble, kind, gentle and has empathy but at the same time, you're strict, honourable, inspire others and intelligence; I don't think any of praises coming from a low class human like me would ever be regarded as something meaningful to you."

For a moment, the Autobots' leader was speechless; in less than a few minutes Sunset had just praised him and not only that, she even said how she viewed him in her eyes. Optimus' optics softened.

" Sunset Shimmer, " he said softly, " you've no idea how much that would mean for me; I was so intrigued by your ignorance of my actions I thought I was being a bad guardian and friend to you."

Sunset turned to look at him, " Optimus, even if I have a choice, I wouldn't choose any other bots to replace you as my guardian and friend. I am sorry for making you felt like that."

" I am sorry too, for making you feel worried just now." Optimus nodded, sensing the misunderstanding had been cleared.

A smirk curled upon Sunset's face, " You know, to make up for all of my ignorance, I think I should give you a reward aside from praises every time you did something amazing, " she gestured the Prime to bent down and leaned closer.

Optimus did so, raising an eyebrow as he lowered his helm to Sunset's height. Sunset placed both of her hands on the leader's cheekplates, leaned forward and kissed his his cheek. Optimus' optics went wide in surprise as he retreated back, feeling his cooling fans kicked on and a blush appeared in his faceplate. He held the place Sunset had kissed with a servo and stared down at her before a small smile craved on his faceplate.

" That, " Sunset Shimmer giggled, " would be your reward."

Optimus' smile widened, " Then I am looking forward for it."

" I can't believe you just successfully forced us to do this..."

Miko hushed Ratchet, " Shuuh! My ship is sailing!"

Her grin widened as she pressed her ear closer on the metal door of their leader's room; Jack and Raf did the same as smiles were on their faces and their guardians, followed with Ratchet, Ultra Magnus, Wheeljack and Smokescreen, couldn't help but to smile as well.
