CHAPTER 14

May's POV (Elena) —

Tiningnan ko lamang si Chase habang paalis na siya ng building. He looked disappointed.. but really I cannot actually tell his real emotions kasi nga he always seems jolly and crazy from since I saw him or met him, more likely.

When he stepped out of the building, he turned around and waved as if he was so sure that I was still watching him go. Our eyes met, I frowned while he smiled widely at me then I saw him walk away.

That guy.. such a piss. If I would have to live with that guy, I'd rather die. Like seriously. I just don't really like him.. his eyes, smile, and just everything about him!

I headed back to my stall and continued working on the papers I left earlier than after some time of working, I decided to check my phone. One new message from an unregistered number. My brows furrowed as I open the message.

"What time are you out? I've been here since like forever." I read the message.

"Who's this?" I replied.

"Guess who." The only reply I got.

Hmm, I have a feeling that this unknown texter is Chase. He just loves pissing me off, doesn't he? And where the heck did he get my cellphone number from? Is he stalking me? Like seriously? Ugh. I decided not to reply anymore.

I finished my paperwork earlier than usual so I decided to get myself some coffee from the coffee shop just a few meters away from here but before heading down, pinuntahan ko muna si Yummie sa stall niya to let her know.

"Hey, I'll just go and grab some coffee. I'll be right back," I told her in a slight tone.

"Oh, sige. Balik ka ah? Sabay tayong uuwi," she answered without even turning to look at me so I headed straight to the elevator and went down.

The moment I stepped out of the building, I saw a guy sitting just in the side street.

"Hoy! I've been waiting for decades here!" The guy turned and stood up. It's Chase. Ugh, the ever annoying Chase!

"Ha? What the hell!? And who told you to even wait for me?" I answered him annoyingly.

He smirked. Annoying, as usual.

"You can just thank me for waiting, you know," he said while acting like a stray dog. Mukha kasi siyang aso!

I didn't mind him anymore and continued walking as if he's not there.

"Hey lady! How dare you turn your back on me?" He shouted at me from behind my back while I hear him walking fast to catch up.

"Wala ka bang trabaho? Or trabaho mo na ang mang-asar?" I asked, beyond irritated while he's walking beside me. Acting like we're close.

"I don't work... people work for me," he smirked. Wow, he loves smirking.

We reached the Coffee shop after a few minutes of walking. I ordered plain coffee while Chase stared at me.

"What?" I asked him.

"Nothing. Aren't you gonna treat me a drink?"

"I'm sorry but I do not treat strangers to anything," I answered, not batting an eye at him.

"Oh, yeah. So, I'm Chase... Rodriguez. Pleased to meet you, Miss.." He handed me his right hand for a handshake and I just stood there staring at it. He just introduced himself. Ha, wow.

"You really have your ways into pissing people off, don't you? May Gonzales... not so pleased to meet you though," I answered him while still ignoring his hand that was waiting for a handshake until he just put it down and giggled.

"So. You can treat me now, May." He uttered as if close na kami.

"Fine. Order whatever you want." I rolled my eyes at him.

He turned to the waitress and ordered something while I searched for a place where we could sit. I found one and headed straight to it and sat down.

After a few minutes, Chase came and brought our orders with him and sat on the chair in front of me. Wow, this is very awkward. I can't believe I'm having coffee with this jerk.

"Am I too handsome? You've been staring at me." He said, snapping me out of my moment of thinking.

"You owe me this, Chase," I said, referring to the coffee he ordered.

"Whatever. Can't you just be approachable and nice kahit sandali lang? Simula ng makilala kita, tinatarayan mo na ako!" He answered me and I cannot help but laugh upon hearing what he just said. "Not to mention that you punched me hard in the face when you first saw me! You're rude."

"What's so funny?" He continued.

"Nothing. How do you know my boss' daughter?" I asked, changing the topic into a serious one.

"Elena? We've met once... and like the first time we met, our meeting was not so nice to remember at all," he answered, taking a sip on his coffee.

"Why?" I asked him curiously.

"Chismosa ka rin pala 'no?" He laughed.

I'm just nosy because I feel like I wanna know whatever they have between them. Uhm. And also, to check the accuracy of my memory. I didn't answer instead I took full sips of my Coffee. A moment of awkward silence followed.

"We were supposed to get married," he spoke breaking the awkward silence.

At first, I thought he was joking. But before I could even answer him back, he continued speaking.

"Her dad and my dad were best of friends," napadako ang mata ko sa relos ko.

"Hindi natin masisisi si miss Elena kung aayaw siya sa kasal ninyo," sagot ko sa kanya bago ako tumayo at naglakad palayo, pabalik sa office. Break time is over.

"What do you mean by that?!" I can say napikon siya sa sinabi ko. Ha!

"Go home, Chase." I plainly ordered upon seeing him still follow me.

"But what if you're my home?" I heard girls squeal. Nakapasok na pala kame sa building ng hindi ko namamalayan. I looked around and saw people staring at us; mostly girls.

"Hindi ba't si Chase Rodriguez 'yon?"

"Kyyaaahh~ Narinig mo 'yong sinabi niya kay May?"

"Ang swerte naman niya."

"Tsk, anong maswerte I'm sure may ginawa yang May na 'yan."

I just rolled my eyes sa mga gossips. Now I'm starting to be the chismosas' main target. This guy really brings me nothing but trouble.

"Get lost." Naiirita kong sigaw sa kanya habang hinihintay na dumating ang elevator.

"You shouldn't shout inside the building May."

I turned to the person speaking. Tsk. Elena Perez.
