Bonus Chapter- Winter's POV
Winter's POV
"She's..." the doctor nervously stuttered.
Chase frightening the living daylights out of this doctor isn't helping matters. I sighed and rolled my eyes. This is becoming tedious. Misty was on the phone with someone in my peripheral vision. I noticed a mischievous grin on her lips. She must have another prank up her sleeve.
"Spill it!" Rodriguez burst out with his fist balled up.
Is he stupid or what? He should know the state of that girl by now if he didn't terrify the doctor. I could see the doctor's reluctance in his eyes. I'm sure this is horrible news.
"Bad news," I blurted out.
I noticed a look of perplexity in their eyes. Morons. How could they be so naive? How could they have missed it? How could they not figure it out?
"She's in a serious condition. She might die any second," I said firmly.
I returned Rodriguez's searing glance of displeasure. Is this what they signify as Mr. Perfect? Lame. How could they give him that title when he is so illiterate?
"Shut up, kiddo! Kahit Perez ka pa 'di ako magdadalawang isip na patulan ka!" he angrily hissed.
When I heard him call me kiddo, my blood ran cold. I'm not a kid! I despise it when people refer to me as a child when I am far smarter than them. I shot him a death gaze. Misty let out a short whistle, as though amused by the spectacle she is witnessing. I turned my gaze to her and looked straight at her. She surrendered by raising her hands.
"Let's make a bet then," I responded confidently, crossing my arms and daring him to gamble with me.
"I have no time playing with a kid," Rodriguez commented turning his attention to the trembling doctor.
Urgh, I so hate this guy!
"The feeling is mutual kiddo." he suddenly blurted out while letting out an exasperated sigh.
I heard Misty trying to control her laughter but failing. I looked at her in confusion.
"I can't believe you just actually blurted out what's on your mind" Misty giggled
Oh, did I just say what I was thinking out loud?! My cheeks began to flush. That was humiliating. When I regained my composure, I rolled my eyes and elbowed her. Misty is a moron. Tss. This is very humiliating.
"Brat," Rodriguez muttered.
I detest this guy so much. I smirked at him and pointed my finger at the girl sleeping soundly in her bed.
"Now, tell me what's May's condition," Rodriguez impatiently ordered.
He's a jerk. Tss. I know he understands by now; he just doesn't want to admit he's wrong and I am right.
"She is beyond saving," I uttered in a bored manner. I looked at the doctor and tilted my head. "Isn't she?"
I'm confident I am right. I know everything. No explanation is needed. I just know. End of story. A sudden memory from the past emerged...
"All of our business partners, and even my teachers, often complement me, stating that I know everything they don't. Elena, I told you I knew everything," I said sheepishly.
She smiled as she lightly tapped my head. She lowered her head to meet mine and locked her gaze on mine.
"I told you to call me Ate," she said before looking up at the sky. "You are too young to be talking about knowing everything Winter," she muttered raising her hand as if reaching for the sky.
I caught a glimpse of Misty carrying a can of paint. I mentally facepalm. When will she ever learn? Elena stood up and patted my head.
"It's boring to know everything. Not knowing something is sometimes preferable rather than knowing everything," she remarked, turning around and kicking Misty behind her.
Misty's shocked expression as she slammed on the floor with paint on her hair made me laugh.
"Too obvious Misty, too obvious." Elena teasingly uttered while shaking her head.
Most people who don't know us would assume Misty is younger than Elena. Misty is too immature, but Elena is mature. Misty is skilled at concocting pranks as well as formulating plans and methods. It's just that Elena is different.
"I'll succeed someday Elena," Misty snorted before walking out.
Elena raised her gaze to the sky once more. I'm not sure what she's thinking. I'd like her to recognize me. I want her to acknowledge me. I'd like her to admit that I do, in fact, know everything.
"I know. About mom and dad and you, planning to return to the Philippines," I suddenly blurted out, out of desperation.
She shrugged not seeming to get what I am trying to say. Why can't she just admit it?!
"There's nothing to admit," she uttered nonchalantly.
She is the only person who can understand what I am thinking. This is why she is referred to as Queen of Perfection. Someday, I'd like to have a title and be like Elena.
"There is no such thing such as perfect in this world Winter," she brushed her hair as she spoke.
Her hair was blowing in the wind, and she was staring blankly at the sky, with no emotion in her eyes, which puzzled me. I don't understand her. Why is she telling me this when she is the epitome of being perfect?
"Mom is not coming back Elena. She left us. She's never coming back. So, why are you wasting your efforts and time for her?" I desperately asked.
She looked at me and smiled as she rubbed my head. Elena, what are you thinking?
"No one knows what's in the future, not you, not Misty, not me. All we could do is try and accept the consequences of our actions because perfect is just an illusion human-made to satisfy their desire. I am only perfect in the human dictionary," she explained before leaving
I closed my eyes again and returned to my current situation. I'm still not sure what she was trying to convey or what she meant. The more I think about it, the more dumbfounded I become. I stared at the doctor, waiting for his response.
"S-she's right. The patient's condition is not stable and it could get worse as we speak," the doctor answered trying to avert his eyes from Rodriguez's deathly stare.
Our eyes shifted by the door when someone entered the door gasping for air. Traces of sweat are seen on her face.
"E-Elena," she softly uttered enough for us to hear.
What is she talking about? Why is she here? When I looked up at Misty, I noticed her devious smile, so I figured this was part of her plan.
"Elena," Luke blurted out.
Elena remained silent, her gaze fixed on May. She appears to be immersed in herself and her profound thought. Why did she say her own name in hushed tones?
"What are you doing here?!" Rodriguez angrily asked Elena.
I mentally rolled my eyes. Stupid. How can they call this guy perfect when he is way too dumb?!
"Obviously, she came to visit the patient," I snorted.
He shot me a cold glare and let out a sigh as if I am the stupid one. Urgh, the nerve of this guy.
"Don't act smart kiddo, sarcasm doesn't work on me, tss." He countered rolling his eyes
Tss, I caught Misty covering her mouth, trying to control her laughter. Isn't he the kid? If he thinks I am a kid, he should just ignore me.
"Then why are you asking such an obvious question? Are you a moron or just plain stupid?" I retorted sarcastically.
Rodriguez was about to come closer to me when Luke pushed him away. I saw Rodriguez's annoyed expression.
"Walang magagawa ang pakikipagtalo mo sa bata Chase. Let the doctor explain her condition" Luke calmly commented.
"I am not a kid!" I shouted in annoyance
I saw Rodriguez form a nasty smirk on his face. I can't say he's ugly because that would be obviously a lie. Tss, pretty face but rude.
"Yes you are," Rodriguez teasingly commented.
"No, I'm not! Shut up, stupid moron!" I said through my gritted teeth trying to stay calm.
Misty chuckled, which I overheard. And slowly clapped her hands, her obnoxious amused smile still pasted on her face.
"I would really love to continue the show but too bad, I know any minute from now Chase would erupt like a volcano," Misty laughed as she look at me then at Rodriguez.
We just exchanged deathly stares, and I diverted my gaze and crossed my arms as I trod on Misty's foot, making her wince in pain.
"The patient has an incurable illness pero ito lang ang masasabi ko dahil nirerespeto namin ang privacy ng mga pasyente namin. Hangga't walang pahintulot galing sa pasyente o sa pamilya nito ay 'di namin maaaring maglabas ng pahayag tungkol sa kalagayan ng pasyente," the doctor explained
Chase roared, "Aren't you a doctor? Then, do something!"
"Ayon din sa mga past records ng pasyente ay marami ng doctor na nawalan ng pag-asa sa paglunas ng sakit niya," the doctor continued, now he seems confident.
Hmm, so it's too late for her. Too bad, I looked at Misty and she has earphones on her ears while whistling. Tsk, as expected. She isn't interested at all.
"This is an order, do something! Hindi ako naniniwalang wala kayong magagawa para mapagaling si May! I'll give you my fortune kung kailangan. Don't fucking give me those pointless bullshits!" Chase angrily hissed
The doctor shook his head and let out a sigh, "The patient will be staying for a week for observation. We would be giving her medication to reduce the pain." The doctor informed us before leaving
I watched as Luke worriedly peered at the girl and Chase anxiously gripped the girl's hand. Whoa, two guys and one not-so-pretty chick. Elena, it appears like Luke has forgotten about your existence because of that girl. What an irony that Miss Perfect does not have a perfect love life.
"Ako na ang bahala kay May," Chase coldly proclaimed.
I really can't believe, Chase actually likes that girl when she is far away from Elena, he ditched their wedding ages ago, and here he is worrying for a not-so-beautiful girl. She is interesting but she is just urgh, never mind.
"Elena let's talk," Luke suddenly announced while he intensely stared at Elena's eyes
Elena simply walked out of the room without saying anything. I wasn't expecting that type of reaction. Elena has a lot of pride, and her reaction now is highly suspicious. I'm pretty convinced something strange is going on here.
"You figured out something?" Misty suddenly asked.
Ow, I forgot about this bully. I guess this is payback time. I gave her a sly smile and left the room.
"Hey! Winter! No secrets!" she shouted trying to catch up to me. A victorious smile plastered on my face. Ha! Suits you right you prankster!
