48| The first mission

"They fucking never keep themselves from peeking into others' business," muttered the fallen angel when he discovered that they were being persecuted for the second time that day.

The youngest gulped and looked up at Taehyung with questioning eyes.

"Come," he replied, grabbing Kai by the wrist and running.

It was the same group of hunters as before, who were after them, and Taehyung knew they would not be able to escape from them, just with a play. That black hair cursed during his breathing. Repeatedly. Cursing. And Kai just followed silently.

They passed the empty streets, people never walked close to Taehyung, his whole aura around him made unconsciously people stay away. Of course with the exception of hunters. Instead, the aura seemed almost like a giant magnet. Underworlders were not displaced by his aura either, but instead, they voluntarily chose to just stay away from him. Taehyung was powerful, but if they were surrounded by an excessive number of hunters, he doubted they would be able to escape without too many scratches. No, nothing must happen to the younger boy, the fallen angel had sworn that when he found him half killed. Kai had had so many internal hemorrhages that Taehyung's powers barely had a chance to save him. But the fallen angel had been determined to save the boy, and miraculously he had succeeded in healing him again.

Actually, Taehyung had not known what had made him so eager to save the little boy, because in all the time he had been standing on the ground, he had stayed away from other creatures. But this beaten boy, who had been thrown out of his own home, was just doing something to the fallen angel. He could not explain the feeling, for it seemed completely unknown to him, or at least very distant. A feeling he might at some point had been able to explain, but no longer. Maybe it was because he could recognize Kai's situation. He himself had also been thrown out of a home to which he now no longer belonged.

The footsteps behind them only got louder and louder with each passing second, and Taehyung started to doubt whether they would get away in time at all. He could count them to be eight without having seen them at all, but that was far from the worst; there were no ways there led sideways here. The only option they had was to run straight ahead, and then hope that they could shake them off. But of course, just the moment the fallen angel actually let an optimistic thought roam, it all blackened for him again as a group blocked the way for them.

"Fucking hell."

He saw no other option but to drag the younger one with him and help him up against the house wall, and then stand in front of him. His arms outstretched protectively in front of Kai, and his facial expression laid in hatred.

The group of eight hunters quickly surrounded them and weapons were drawn and turned towards them. Taehyung scowled at them, his gaze sent out his aura even more powerfully, and he saw some of them hesitate.

"What do you want in us?!" the fallen angel hissed at them, while he felt how Kai tightened his hands around his shirt. His hands shook.

They laughed, smirks displayed on lips, "Isn't it clear enough to see, huh?" replied the smallest of the hunters.

Taehyung let his gaze land on him, his eyes analyzing, and his brain calculating. The smallest hunter was definitely their leader.

"You're full of shit, what the hell have we ever done to you?"

They laughed again, but then one of the hunters stepped closer and swung his sword in the direction of the fallen angel. Taehyung did not move an inch, still with his gaze drilled down on the smallest hunter. As if the sword had hit a barrier, it was swung back with a great force and hit the cobblestones behind them. The hunter looked up in shock, his hand now unarmed.

Their leader looked skeptically over at the sword and afterward at Taehyung, who was still glaring angrily at him. The hunter bit his teeth tightly together and tightened the grasp around his blade in his own hand. The other hunters copied the movement from their leader, and two bows were also strung with dangerous arrows facing them.

"STOP!"

A voice clinked through the tense air and some of the hunters turned around towards the sound, one of the hunters with the bow, turned it towards the stranger group. Taehyung still kept his eyes on the leader, but Kai looked at the newcomers and counted them. The boy widened his eyes. They were many, more than those hunters, but that was not what had made Kai so shocked. This group was mixed between hunters and underworlders, and Kai had never seen this before.

"Hwa, wait before shooting," the leader said to the archer as he sensed how he pulled on the bowstring.

A voice continued, "If you do anything to them, we will kill you."

The leader snorted, "And who do you just think you are-"

The smallest hunter's lips slowly curled up into a smirk as he caught sight of who was the speaker.

"Oh, Choi Yeonjun, I see. And who are they then? Your little tracking dogs?"

The herd of wolves growled at the grinning hunters.

"Rumors fly like dust in the wind. Hm .. What do you say boys .. "

He smiled crookedly, "Bloodbath?"

The arrow drilled its way through the air, hitting its target in the shoulder. The green glowing stumbled a step backward while he quickly pulled the bow out of his shoulder again. 'Hwa' smirked as he saw Yeonjun's returning gaze for his action. A fight had started.

Yeonjun pulled his blade which was fastened to his belt and sprang forward towards the group of hunters, his target; the archer. Quickly and lightly on his feet, he threw himself towards him, angrily and before anyone could react, his blade was planted into the side of his target. Then Yeonjun pulled the blade back and steered it toward the arch, which split in half. With his foot, he kicked to the hunter, who immediately fell to the ground.

Taehyung kept an eye on the fight, which unfolded before the eyes of him and Kai. Wolves growled angrily and jumped on the hunters, who did everything to defend themselves. But they were outnumbered.

"Hy-hyung what are we doing?" Kai squeezed out nervously.

"Hmm," was the only thing the fallen angel replied.

Taehyung couldn't think of anything but flee, run away. He just had to get Kai to safety again. No chances. So they ran from the battlefield without looking back once, Kai's hand tucked away, protective within his own.

"Fuck Geonhak, I'm so sorry this happened," said the silver-haired hunter as he gently tried to remove the substance, which only seemed to suck further and further into his wounds in the shoulder.

The wolf sucked a quantity of air in between his teeth when a betrayal sensation stung him where Yeonjun was working on his sweater.

"Jun that's not going to work," he said, slightly bitten and gently pushing Yeonjun backward.

Then Geonhak grabbed the bottom of the shirt and pulled it over his head in a quick motion. A red sheen formed over the hunter's cheeks when the wolf's well-trained form appeared and he looked away.

"Aw, shy we are now, hm?" Geonhak teased and jumped down from the table he had been sitting on.

Then he grabbed the elder's cheek and turned his head to then lean in towards him for a kiss. Yeonjun gasped, still not used to anyone finding a way to kiss him. The butterflies basked around, and he melted into Geonhak's touches. His hand went from his healthy shoulder and down over his bare upper body, without him even noticing it.

But then the thought hit him again, and he let out a squeal as he pushed the wolf off again, "Not now, afterward. Your wound must be cleansed first!"

Geonhak giggled a little at that and sat up on the table once more. Yeonjun found the cloth with the disinfectant again and began to remove the clotted blood from his shoulder. The wolf couldn't help but laugh quietly, for it was so clear to see how Yeonjun tried to lean as little towards him as possible.

"I don't bite your finger off," said Geonhak, pulling the other one further towards him, letting him place his hand on his bare chest.

Yeonjun blushed and smiled faintly as he continued his cleansing of the wound. It was fortunate that Geonhak had had such quick reflexes and tore out the arrow immediately, for otherwise, the weakening fluid had managed to seem somewhat more violent than it had now. The wolf felt only faintly dizzy and tired in his body, nothing else. Maybe the dizziness was even just that the hunter had his hands on him right now...There were no others who had been badly injured other than some smaller wounds, and bruises. The group of hunters quickly chose to retire after seeing how they were outnumbered. Yeonjun did not quite know if their first mission was successful or not, because they had only saved two underworlders lives from death. They were supposed to have talked with the hunters and not attacked them.

What could he say, his push-button was pushed when Geonhak got injured. It was totally instinctive and not at all thought to the end.

"Geonhakie, we failed our first mission," he slowly glanced up at the wolf, who strangely enough sat and smiled wildly insanely.

"What?"

"Can I kiss you now?"
