39| What you don't await
The red-blonde boy with all the many earrings sat with Iris in her room and watched a movie. In fact, the girl lay up by the boy while he had his strong arms wrapped around her. In recent weeks, strangely enough, they had become close, and to Iris' surprise, the boy had come every single day to see her. It was the first time anyone had kept in touch with her that way, due to enough of how quiet she usually was, she thought. But it was not a lie, the girl was very quiet, but somehow the boy had cracked the code for her talk. Maybe it was because she felt so safe around him.
"Moonlight?"
"Hmm?" Iris replied, turning her head so she could see his face and glowing moons in his eyes.
"What day is it today?" the boy asked, his eyebrows slightly wrinkled.
"Sat-"
"Fuck," the boy interrupted and got up quickly from the bed. His gaze was wild and nervous.
Iris sat up, "What's happening?"
The red-blonde looked at the confused girl, "That-I-I have to go now!"
"What? Wait!" the blonde-haired girl shouted after the boy, who rushed out of her bedroom door.
She didn't know if her parents were home or not. But she hoped at that moment that they were not, for then they would ask her questions. Iris jumped up from the bed and ran after the boy down the stairs. Her feet tapped against the surfaces of the stairs meanwhile, she repeatedly jumped over several steps. But the boy was just a lot faster than her. When the girl looked up and saw that he rounded the corner out to the front door she panicked. He must not get away now! Not now. She had to do something as soon as possible. Her brain was pounding and her legs were almost tripping over each other. Then it hit her. The thought.
"Jimin!!" the blonde-haired girl shouted after the boy who had ripped the door open.
The sound resounded through the air, like a sharp arrow, hitting the boy's hearing. Clearly. And he stopped abruptly in his movements and froze. The girl herself rounded the corner and stopped herself when she saw how the boy stood with one hand around the handle of the wide-open door. He slowly turned around towards her, who was standing and breathing for air.
"How do you know my name?"
Iris panicked and tripped over her own thoughts. Where the hell did she actually know his name from?!
"I never told you it..." Jimin continued, his eyes filled with the purple light.
But Iris could not say anything. She could not even move and just stood looking at the boy in front of her eyes. Jimin gulped, took a step back, and left the house without his shoes. The girl had a hard time grasping what had just happened, but one thing she was sure of: that at least he should not just be allowed to run away. So Iris ran towards her own shoes and pulled them on at a record fast speed. She did not once think about what she was doing but just ran in the direction of the boy who had come a long way down the road. Jimin was extremely fast, almost supernaturally fast, and Iris could not possibly keep up. But still, she ran after him. It must have looked insane to the people they passed down the paved road.
Iris saw Jimin turn down a side street further down, and she angrily blew her hair away from her face. But then she thought of a shortcut, and a small smirk flew up on her red strained face. The girl ran down another side street, the adrenaline rushing around her body was the only thing holding her running. Now she was just going to go down the end of the street and then turn right, then she would run straight into Jimin again. Her soles hitting the hard surface of the asphalt every time she put one leg in front of the other, echoed around the avenue and gave life to the otherwise empty street. Her bright locks flew around her head, and before she knew it, the white end wall was in front of her eyes, and she threw herself almost wildly to the side. Her shoulder hit into something and her eyes threw themselves around her, but the only thing she could hear was a growl. It sounded like a wild animal growling at her. Iris crashed to the ground and the rough asphalt scraped across her palms and continued across her face, which bumped against the ground. She rolled several laps over the hard surface and now lay completely still. Her breathing was fast, too fast, and she could only hear the growling sound that got louder and louder every second that passed. She had to get up, she had to. But slowly.
Iris bit her jaws together and lifted herself up off the asphalt. She could feel how her palms were sweating and a drop of blood would roll from her cheek. Almost too slowly, she turned around, though the fear of which creature would stand on the other side was great. The creature snapped out into the air, the light growl now deep and threatening. And then the purple eyes hit her own. She gasped. Jimin was not himself. She couldn't recognize ham. The creature standing in front of her right now was not Jimin. That could only be impossible.
His teeth were bared so she could see all the razor-sharp tips that sat inside his mouth. His gaze was hard and repulsive, and the aura that lay around him was powerful and extremely threatening. The girl could not focus properly on what was going on in front of her, it was all blurred. Absently, she took a step backward, but the creature followed. Took the double towards her. Her mouth was sealed and she did not have a chance to say anything before he jumped out after her. The sharp teeth drilled deep into her throat, made to kill. The creature's hands pushed her aggressively backward, causing the girl to fall to the ground with him bent over her. Iris gasped desperately for breath, unable to scream for help. The blood rolled like a running waterfall from the new wound the boy's teeth still bit down into. She really thought she was going to die there, but the moment the girl closed her eyes, the wolf was torn away from her. It was kicked away from her and rolled across the asphalt, where small scratches afterward decorated its bare arms. The wolf now growled out, even louder than before, and hastily rose from the ground. A knife drilled through the air and hit the aggressive beast in the stomach, causing it to stumble against the ground again. A red liquid immediately flowed out at the same time as the wolf raised the sharp weapon again. The boy cursed during his breathing as he felt the weakening fluid slowly spread around his body, making him heavier. He fell to the ground, hunched over in pain, and looked up at the stranger. Hunter. Jimin wanted to resist, his wolf almost demanded it, but he did not. He knew he would just hurt Iris even more. He could never control himself during full moons. And right now he could easily have killed the hunter even though he was wounded, but he had to fight against the lusts of his wolf.
The hunter hurried over to the wounded girl. Her blonde hair was already damp with the dark red blood slowly seeping out of the large bite mark in her throat. Gently, he lifted her up into a sitting position, making sure to support her back so she would not fall directly backward again. She whined slightly over the jerks it gave in her new wounds.
"Here, drink this," said the hunter in a numb tone.
His voice was deep and monotonous, and Iris immediately opened her eyes and got a slight shock when she saw how close the stranger boy was to her. His eyes were a brown color, and his hair was completely black, and set with parting so that one could see his forehead. He held out a bottle in front of her and Iris dared not do anything but do as he said and drank from the bottle. It tasted absolutely awful and the girl most of all just wanted to spit it out again. But the boy's hard look made her swallow it all without any comment. She could almost immediately feel the effect and grabbed the boy's hand, which he held out to her. It was tingling around the wound and she was almost sure it was healing right now.
"I'm following you home ...?"
"Iris."
"Okay, Iris. My name is Soobin," the boy still said in his toneless voice.
The girl just nodded and started showing the way home to her. She could not help but take one last look over her shoulder at Jimin, who was still bleeding on the asphalt. It stuck in her heart just at the sight of him, but a flame also danced around in her thoughts. How could he not have told her who he really was if he knew he would be able to hurt her?
