37| A different past

Yeonjun sat quietly on his office chair, pressing through files on his computer. The room was dim, but the two bright green eyes were easy to spot, and reflected back in the glass pane next to the terrace. The silver-haired hunter had been sitting for almost an hour, just reviewing files he had gotten with the job he now actually had. Geonhak had all this time just been standing and observing him while he had an internal debate about whether he should go over to him or not. But soon he could not stand it any longer, and just said 'fuck it' and walked the few meters that were between them, to the hunter and put his arms around him while supporting his head on his shoulder. It made Yeonjun stiffen for a brief second but then relax again. He was just getting used to the other boy who was around him all the time.

"Hey Geonhak, doesn't your pack miss you?" the hunter asked softly, still with his eyes locked to the screen.

The question made the wolf snort, and he replied half-laughing, "Do you just want to get rid of me?"

Yeonjun blushed faintly, "No-no that was not what I meant!" he replied confused.

Geonhak laughed a little again and tightened his teasing grip a little on the older one, "Aww Yeonjunie you are so sweet when you get shy."

He kissed the other's cheek with his gentle lips. At that moment, everything around Yeonjun stopped. It all came to a standstill, including himself. He was frozen to the spot and could not possibly move. Geonhak pushed the office chair out and stood in front of Yeonjun. He smiled at him as he grabbed his cheeks.

"Sweet."

The hunter still could not really understand what had just happened, and he looked with two confused chocolate-colored eyes into the bright green ones.

Right out of the blue, he just asked a question, "D-did you just kiss me?"

"I can do it again."

Yeonjun wanted to say something, but the soft lips touched his opposite cheek than before, and a strange feeling swirled around his whole body. Almost like the dancing sparks he also saw around him. The extra bright glowing green eyes were the only thing that made Yeonjun able to focus. He almost felt like he had ingested alcohol and was now sailing around in something he had no control over himself.

"Do it again."

The black-haired boy kissed Yeonjun's nose tip with a small smile over how cute the older one looked.

The silvery boy blinked a few times, "Again."

Geonhak looked at him, predominantly. His green eyes flickered a little down to his plump lips and afterward looked into his eyes. He could see how Yeonjun's expression threaded up in excitement and nervousness. The wolf put his index finger on the other boy's lips and pressed one last kiss to his forehead.

"Not today," he whispered with a small smile, removing his finger again.

Yeonjun's mouth fell half open while he, in a trance, looked at the wolf in front of him. His big eyes blinked lazily as if he was still not quite himself.

"And you're right, maybe I should go back to the pack. We're standing a bit in a .. discuss at the moment, even though they are probably used to me mostly just coming and going," Geonhak said in his deep voice.

"Geonhakie you can't leave me!" exclaimed Yeonjun, grabbing the wolf's strong upper arm.

The younger one considered it briefly and then smiled with a small smirk, "Keep calling me that."

The hunter blushed faintly again and looked down embarrassed.

"You can always come along," the wolf said reassuringly, causing Yeonjun to close his eyes even more than they already were.

"Wouldn't they mind?"Geonhak shook his head and cracked a small crooked teasing smile, "Don't you know the To Moon pack and what we do?"

The hunter looked at him confused, "What are you doing ...?"

"We travel around and help both hunters and other underworlders if major disagreements arise. Haven't you heard of it before at all?"

The hunter turned the question once more in his head, and slowly opened his mouth to answer, "No, I don't think so. I knew well that your pack existed, but not of what you are doing. There must have been no problems with you, so that's probably why I have not heard of it."

Geonhak nodded. His gaze wandered a little away from the silver-haired boy. They both became silent. But the room itself was not quiet, for their thoughts were still wandering around.

"Geonhakie, can you not tell me about your past, your childhood," Yeonjun finally asked, a thought that had been sitting in his head for a long time now. He was so curious about the wolf's past, experiences and experiences.

"Hmm okay, if you turn off the screen," the wolf replied and Yeonjun immediately did what he was asked.

Geonhak quickly dragged Yeonjun over to the bed and pushed him down into it, so that the mattress gave away under him, and he gently sank down a little. It was a strange sensation sitting in the hunter, and he could not help but think of what this might be reminiscent of.  He immediately pulled the quilt close to him and the wolf lay down beside him. And Geonhak looked at him too even though he did not look back. He studied with his bright green eyes the smallest details from the side perspective of Yeonjun's face and gently reached out a hand to remove some of the soft gray hairs. As his fingers hit the soft warm skin, Yeonjun turned his face and looked directly back into his eyes.

"What do you want to hear about first?" the wolf asked.

"Everything."

Geonhak cracked a smile, "I can't tell you everything, are you aware of how long it would take, huh-"

"Then start from the beginning. Tell me something about your childhood, where did you live?", the hunter interrupted, his eyes shining with excitement.

The wolf sighed nodding, "Alright."

The eldest quickly lay down completely straight and snuggled further towards the duvet. It almost made Geonhak become soft in the knees of the older boy. He was so adorable.

"I can safely say that I was not a completely normal child. My parents knew that almost from the moment I was born. Like what would be called a rarity nowadays, I was born a werewolf and therefore lived in a larger pack of about 35 members at the time.

I remember that our pack traveled a lot, we did not really have one place where we stayed.

I did not talk to anyone but sometimes my mother. She had other important duties in the pack, so I was often left to myself, or other adults in charge of the children. I almost never saw my father. He was the pack leader's right hand, and therefore always followed him around."

Geonhak stopped himself, and an extra twinkle in his shining eyes almost appeared, "Actually, when I think about it, I was quite fascinated by my father. He was a kind of role model for me, and I looked up to him quite a lot. But because I didn't talk much with others and in general mostly related to myself, I was seen as weak. Many did not like me and I even doubt that my own mother liked me", his gaze became deep and fell slightly. Yeonjun immediately noticed how the mood swing pulled at him, but he kept quiet.

"I was six years old when my wolf first appeared to me. It was big for me, I remember, because then I would finally see how strong it would be. That day had felt like it had gone too far. strongly. It all did not make sense to me. When I met my wolf deep inside, it was as if it had just said click for us, and then we otherwise just had a collaboration. There I had already mastered the control of it. The elders in the pack were afraid of Leedo, in fact almost terrified. They never dared approach me, and one of the things was probably their shock at how strong a wolf I had and how I had already mastered the control of my wolf so early. So they decided to leave me just three days after I found the balance with Leedo."

Yeonjun had big eyes fixed on Geonhak, who was lying in front of him. He was an amazing narrator.

"But..they just left you? All alone?" the silver-colored boy asked with a nervousness crawling up from him.

Geonhak nodded, "Yeah, they six-year-olds left me out in the woods all alone. And back then I did not know exactly why they did. The last thing I can remember from the herd is my dad's look at me. It was not terrifying like all the others, more or less, as if he saw me as something valuable he himself was not proud of."

He gulped, looking gently at the younger one with his chocolate-colored eyes, "I'm proud of you," Yeonjun whispered, crawling a little closer to the wider boy.

The wolf embraced him with a smile and took a deep breath so that the scent of wild berries fell sharply against him. It was a nice feeling to have Geonhak's arms around him, and he closed his eyes and put his head all the way to the other boy's chest.

"Then I met Youngjo and I suddenly saw a slightly brighter future. Youngjo's family took me to them. They were also werewolves and very gentle and kind, unlike my old pack. His parents were not afraid of me on the contrary, they loved and loved me.

Youngjo and I were like brothers and behaved as if we had always known each other.

He had also gained control of his wolf early just like me and that is why I also think we got so close so quickly.

His parents were not members of any pack, so they lived for themselves inside the city and behaved like other civilians so as not to attract too much attention.

I went to school and actually had a normal upbringing as a completely normal human being.

I went therefore with brown contact lenses almost all the time and I hated them," Geonhak laughed a little, over the old memories of his damn stupid contact lenses.

"How did you meet the others then?" Yeonjun mumbled questioningly and almost half asleep.

The wolf took a small deep breath, "Youngjo had already met Seoho before he found me. I didn't like him back then and he certainly didn't like me either. The only thing we had in common was Youngjo. I never talked to Seoho, but still, somehow we accepted each other without really doing it. Youngjo was determined that we should have our own little pack, and he was, of course, the most obvious pack leader. I had nothing against it, but I could sense that Seoho did not feel quite the same way as me. When we all three went out of elementary school, it was that we split up a little bit. Seoho did not want to continue his schooling and instead started working and making money. We didn't see much of him, only when Youngjo forced him to meet up with us. Youngjo's parents, on the other hand, wanted Youngjo to continue his school, so I chose to follow him. There we found Hwanwoong and Keonhee, who already knew each other, and went together. Both of their families were part of one of the packs that were and still are in the town we lived in. They, strangely enough, clicked incredibly well into our little pack that we had created for ourselves. They were both two mood lifters and were good at getting us to talk some more too even though, I actually did not really say much more than what I used to. Seoho accepted them too, and when Youngjo asked them if they wanted to be part of our little pack, they were both just so over happy," he smiled meanwhile, he slowly trailed a hand over Yeonjun's arm.

"It was not until the end of our last school year that we found Dongju," the wolf immediately lost his smile, and the elder looked up at him.

"The little poor boy lay wounded, most likely beaten by some other wolves. I don't know how it happened, nor has he ever mentioned anything about his past other than that he had a twin brother. At that time our little pack had already moved from the former town we lived in and into a huge abandoned building that we had spent several years getting restored. The place we live now."

The silvery boy nodded slowly and fell further in with his head against the wolf again. He closed his eyes.

"Mm I never got to see the building .." mumbled Yeonjun.

The wolf's heart skipped a beat, and a smile blossomed on his lips. The older one sounded really sweet when he mumbled. It was not long before he could hear the hunter's deep breathing as a sign that he had fallen asleep.
