36| To be guest

All of a sudden, there were many of them who had to sit at the table and eat, even though Jungkook had insisted that he should have nothing, he had been forced to do so anyway. It was a strange silence that hung over the dining table. Only Beomgyu and Taehyun sat and chatted with each other, the rest were quiet. Two eyes, sent from Soobin who had been plastered up around his nose, scowled in the direction of Geonhak, who was quietly sitting and eating. Soobin's nose was broken and it had hurt a hell of a lot to put it back in place.

Beomgyu clared his throat in the middle of the still air, "Can't we talk about something? How did it go with you Yeonjun hyung, did you tell Hoseok?"

The silver-haired boy nodded, "Yes, I got it said, but he was not very happy.. We should probably not expect that we will work with him ever again .."It stung a bit in Jungkook when he heard it. Maybe he'll never ever see Hoseok again. It was a thought he could not understand at all, for it felt as if he had always lived with Hoseok even though it had only been almost three years. Three years ago he lost his parents. Just the thought of it made tears sting a little in his eyes and he looked away from the table. Was this just a nightmare? He pinched himself in the arm, hard, but when the little pain hit his nervous system, he could easily feel it. This was reality, and it all looked hopeless to him. He had lost so many people that it was soon unmanageable. First his parents, then Jimin, Alicia, and now also Hoseok. It was fortunate that he had not actually had to live on the streets, but had a place to live, in both safety and dry weather. Right now, he just did not feel part of the community, not to mention how strange a composition they had in this family. In fact, he knew nothing about the Choi Hunters, and his visit had only confirmed him even more. Jungkook could sense quarrels between them, and it seemed that it was not just small quarrels, as Choi Soobin sat and shot arrows after the werewolf, who was sitting obliquely opposite him. And that with all the plaster, he was sure it was because of a fight. No, right now Jungkook just had a feeling that the two most normal, if you could call them that at all, were Taehyun and Beomgyu.

"But what do we do now?" it flew unexpectedly out of Jungkook's mouth, and he himself looked a little confused at Yeonjun.

"I mean, there is clearly a lot of underworld-people who are gathering groups to kill all the hunters, and therefore many hunters are also trying to exterminate the underworlders. For every day that goes by, it only gets worse and worse, and I don't think that something can stop it .."

The oldest hunter looked at him predominantly before he replied, "We must show them that underworlders and hunters can easily work together, without hatred between them. Show them that we can work well together without killing each other" his tone was firm and determined.

The very youngest eyes lit up almost completely by his big brother's words. Was it really Yeonjun who had just said all that? Him who had hated Taehyun so fervently that he was ready to kill him on the spot? He turned his head and looked at Taehyun, who was sitting with a small smile pulling at his lips. This was the start of a new start, and the couple was ready for a bloody showdown if that was what it took for there to be peace between the hunters and the underworlders.

But Soobin did not agree with the idea, "You are well aware that you are far too little to be able to stand against an entire community, Yeonjun."

The elder snapped his head at Soobin, who was still glaring angrily back at him, "Yeah, that's why I'm going to find more. It's just a matter of fighting the larger groups first, and then the rest will succumb and be convinced. And it's hyung to you Soobin, show some respect."

The black-haired boy turned his eyes away from him and again began to eat of his supper. It would have been enough for Yeonjun to get up and grab the younger one if Geonhak had not been sitting next to him and holding him back. Yeonjun was really tired of Soobin's nosy certainty.

"Okay okay, Tae and I clear the table!" the youngest hunter exclaimed, waving all the others away before another fight would break out.

Soobin was quick to get up and stomped almost all the way to his room, where he slammed the door hard. Out of sheer reflex, Beomgyu and Yeonjun exchanged eyes, as they always did when their cousin was angry.

Jungkook didn't quite know where to make of himself. He wanted to help clear away as he would not be a bad guest. But now that they had said that they would clear it away, he silently got up and went up the stairs where he had borrowed a guest room. It was a comfortable room that was right next to Yeonjun's office. There was not too little space, but also not too much for it to look empty. After all, Jungkook did not really own anything.

He stepped into the dark room and pressed the light switch down. The room was furnished with a bed, which stood leaning up from one wall, up from the opposite wall stood a small table and some completely empty shelves. An empty picture frame was the only thing standing on the table. Jungkook had not unpacked, he could not really feel comfortable enough for it. As if unrest was bubbling in his stomach. It was not like back then he was allowed to live with the red-haired hunter. At the time, he had almost felt comfortable right away even though, so many terrible things had happened in almost no time. Maybe he felt that way now because he felt guilty? He should never have told Hoseok anything about Alicia, otherwise, it might not have happened that way. But Jungkook had never thought that Hoseok would cross the line and kill her. How could he do that? They had known each other for so many years, were best friends, even though she would not admit it, yet he killed her as if he had never known her. Jungkook swallowed. It was all so messed up. His life was messed up. He might as well use a hug right now, or just something that would be with him so he did not feel lonely.

The boy sat down heavily on the bed, reached for his bag, and dug out some more comfortable clothes, as well as his toothbrush. He had not been able to change his clothes since Alicia .. yes disappeared and he was sure that there was still a small stench of mud on the bottom of his black pants. It was actually a little rude of him, but somehow it did not bother the rest of them in the house. They all had compassion for him, and now that he thought about it, Beomgyu had also given him a hug or two. He just hadn't even noticed it. He knew that he and Beomgyu were almost the same age, himself a few months older.

Jungkook stopped his speculations about what it must be like to have a little brother and got out of bed to find the bathroom. It was diagonally opposite his new room. As he stepped out into the small hallway, he noticed a light flickering a little further down the hallway. It was light from the outline of a door into a room he did not even know what was for. He frowned slightly but then thought that it was probably just Yeonjun who was messing with something, and he should not look more into their things than absolutely necessary. It was abundant that he had been given a room to be in at all.
