Jungkook sighed, it was his turn to check up on their current prisoners. He hated having to do it because they always had to make some derogatory comments to him. But that was probably just the case between hunters and underworlders. They hated each other.
"Hey, little boy!"
Jungkook snapped his head at the demon and held his blade threateningly towards him,
"Shut up, do I look small compared to you? Huh?" he spat dangerously at the demon.
"Hey, speak properly to your elder!" the demon replied sharply again, untouched by the blade, which was held out in front of him.
"Why should I? It's not because I have any reason to respect you."
"Tsk, who raised you?" Yoongi said, slowly leaning back up against one sidewall of bars.
Jungkook glared angrily at the seemingly laid-back demon, "Myself."
The demon stood and thought for a brief moment about what the hunter had just answered before saying his next question, "Do you not have any parents?"
Jungkook remained silent. And only there, Yoongi smirked to himself. The demon knew very well the answer to the question.
"Aww, are they dead? But now I will share something with you, mine is too!" the demon exclaimed excitedly as encouragement with a smile on his face.
"And I killed them myself in exactly the same way you kill innocent souls," he added, still with his flattering smile on his lips.
The younger one closed his eyes, "You're a monster!" he exclaimed, pressing the blade against the demon's neck through the bars once more.
"Yes, but the same is you," the demon said calmly with a buttery facial expression, pointing a finger at the boy in front of him.
"I only kill monsters like you, because otherwise the earth would slowly disappear and accumulate with your species! Monsters!!" Jungkook shouted angrily and now pushed to the demon with the flat side of his blade.
Yoongi stumbled a few steps back, "Don't worry, it wasn't me who killed your parents, was it?"
Jungkook pulled the blade back and sat down annoyed on a chair behind him.
"No it was a werewolf, but it's the same anyway .." muttered the hunter to himself.
But still, all three underworlders who were sitting in their respective cells in the basement heard it. And it was not at all because both the demon and the warlock knew it in advance. In fact, the warlock knew every little detail about the boy who right now was sitting annoyed on the chair in the middle of the room.
But when Yoongi heard it, the corner of his mouth still curled up into an even bigger smirk. It was the perfect time to tell the younger one now.
"You know ..." the demon began, "Alicia is a werewolf".
The hunter stiffened and slowly turned his head towards Yoongi, who smirked at him.
"WHAT!?" exclaimed the younger, "What do you mean by that!?"
"Why else do you think she has been so careful about being around you and Hoseok?" said the demon, still with his flattering smile glued to his otherwise expressionless face.
Jungkook stared at him, and then he widened his eyes. Like a blow to the head of the youngest hunter, it all dawned on him. It all just suddenly made sense to him.
_____
The youngest hunter rushed around the house after either Hoseok or Alicia. He entered Hoseok's office and put his hands down on the desk, right before the eyes of the oldest hunter. Hoseok slowly lifted his head from his papers, squinting eyes at Jungkook.
"Yes?"
"Where is Alicia?!" the youngest hunter asked, perhaps in a louder voice than what he had intended.
"Jungkook, what's wrong?" Hoseok replied even more confused than before.
The youngest boy did not answer, but instead turned around on his heels, steering towards the door again. An annoyed sound escaped the red-haired hunter's mouth, and he quickly stepped around the table and grabbed Jungkook's shoulder. The youngest hunter directed his shocked eyes at Hoseok, who looked slightly annoyed at him.
"Jeon Jungkook answers me."
The dark-haired boy gulped, and could not help but stare back with a nervous look. Then he shook his head and tore himself free from the elder's grip and ran towards the door.
"What the hell is wrong with him," the red-haired hunter cursed to himself as he listened intently to the footsteps of the younger hunter, who slowly disappeared further and further away until they could not be heard at all.
Hoseok sat down again in his work chair and ran a hand through his hair. His gaze landed on his lit mobile, which he had soon stared down at for the past hour.
"I wonder if he's ever going to answer me," the hunter muttered with his thoughtful eyes fixed on the unanswered message.
"I swear, Yeonjun if you do not keep your agreement.." he reached for a plastic mug that stood on the desk to the right of his mobile, and then he smashed it until it was completely crushed.
"Then you'll regret it!"
_____
The girl's black combat boots were hastily pulled on, and then she sprinted out the door. On the way out, Alicia also pulled on her black leather jacket while her eyes desperately searched for a possible escape route. She had heard them tell Jungkook her secret, and at this moment was only concerned with just getting away. The girl was furious, but fear had crept up on her and had the wolf awakened in her.
"Damn monsters!"
Alicia set off running further into the woods, it would be too obvious if she ran home, but she had to flee. She did not trust the other two hunters enough to stay. One could never know what they would be able to do to her if they got hold of her now that the secret had been let out. She had now otherwise kept it hidden from them for almost two months that she had been bitten by a wolf. But what had Alicia expected, it was not exactly easy to hide.
The adrenaline was already pumping around her entire body, filling every single vein. Her breathing had increased in no time, with fear in her eyes, she ran all she could further into the woods. The branches of the dense trees whipped her around the ears, and her boots sank minimally into the soft forest floor. Alicia tried everything in her power to hold on to control, but the wild animal's instinct had taken over. She could feel how it pulsed in her temple every time her wolf had picked up movement activity in her perimeter. Who would have thought that Alicia got to the point in her life where she fled from her loved ones. And yes, the wolf did not just run, it fled, despite the urge it had to just throw itself into the youngest hunter's arms, where it felt safest. But a little sense, she pushed into the wolf's instinct.
The whipping thoughts that hit the girl around the ears made her dizzy. Alicia lost her balance and tumbled forward into the soft forest floor, which was covered with thousands of fallen leaves. Soil sprayed to all sides, while the wolf lost air completely. Due to the high speed she had, she rolled around several times before lying flat on her stomach.
"Shit," she mumbled, her panicky eyes staring around her surroundings.
In a quick jerk as if Alicia had not fallen at all, she put one leg under her and emphasized it to get up again. But the second she shifted the weight on her leg, a pain wave hit her like a powerful shock and she fell to the ground again. The girl bit her lip hard and tried once more to get up, but her right foot staggered just in pain beneath her. Another thrust went through her, and she curled up protectively around her ribs, which pressed uncomfortably against her.
The next thing she heard, the wolf jumped up in a panic, similar to what could almost be described as dragging on one of its legs. The sound of rustling leaves approached too fast and Alicia could not get away.
"Alicia!"
The girl turned around in panic after the call from a nervous voice. Her one contact lens had fallen out as she had rolled around at the forest ground, and now an ice blue and a dark brown eye stared anxiously at Jungkook. He stood frozen to the ground, it was impossible for him to move a single muscle. The youngest hunter swallowed, still with summing eyes on Alicia, who stood about seven feet in front of him. Leaves of all golden colors had stuck to her hair and clothes, and one side of her face was covered with earth. And he couldn't help but see her ice-blue orb. It almost cut him in the eyes just to look her in the eye. Jungkook was shocked and stood frozen in his movements.
"So it was true," whispered the boy, swallowing the saliva that had accumulated in his mouth.
The wolf took a step back. It tingled in her skin, just looking at the boy. She felt hurt and somehow also betrayed by him too, even though it wasn't Jungkook's fault that he knew her secret.
"Alicia ..-" Jungkook sucked air in through his teeth, "I won't hurt you."
The girl's eyes flickered around, searching for an escape. She had to run even though she could barely with her injured foot. In an aggressive motion, she shook her head and took more steps back, slowly backing further and further away from the boy, who she deep down would most likely want to throw herself at.
The wild instinct had such a firm grip on Alicia that she practically threw herself around on her stomach and transformed before the eyes of Jungkook. The bones cracked around on the golden-brown forest floor, and the snow-white wolf appeared, the fright sticking out of its ice-blue eyes. Valentina cast one last glance over at Jungkook, who stood in complete dismay.
And then she ran off.
