27| Red locks

His wet hair clung to his forehead as he plunged through the pouring rain. It almost looked like the sky was pouring down on him. All his clothes were completely soaked, so they sat close to his long body. But that was the last thing Soobin worried about right now. He had finally found something to take care of instead of tormenting his cousin to get him to spill all the secrets. Now he could have his own little secret.

The hunter stopped breathlessly after running and turned down the side road they lived on. The street looked incredibly deserted, and if it was not for the few lights in individual windows, Soobin would have really thought no one lived there and he would have had gone the wrong way.

But he caught sight of the dim light in their house as he entered their driveway. Soobin lifted a cold and wet hand up against the handle and pressed it down. The door went up as expected at once, and he entered. His heavy, wet clothes dripped with fat water drops and soaked the mat under him. Quietly, the hunter closed the door behind him, noticing how the heat surrounded him like a large warm blanket. It gave a shudder in him over the feeling of the great temperature difference distributed over his body.

As best he could without making too much noise, he lifted his soaked shoes off and his sticky hoodie over his head. In a hurry, he threw the sweater on the floor, which slammed down against his equally wet shoes. Soobin's white t-shirt, which he was wearing inside, had also become wet and almost completely transparent.

The hunter took a few steps further towards the house's dining room. And it was there that it dawned on him that he should go through the living room in order to carry out his plan.

"Hell, too," he mumbled to himself.

And the sound of little laughs and giggles did not make it better either. Soobin had known they would side in there. The hunter slipped the last piece towards the door into the living room and looked inside. To his half great / half not great astonishment, he found his younger cousin and the vampire lying on top of each other on the couch. Deeply engaged in kissing each other.

Soobin wrinkled his face and looked in the opposite direction while he quickly snuck past them. They were still so preoccupied with each other that a bomb could almost explode next to them, and they would not notice it.

When Beomgyu and Taehyun's kissing began to develop into something more intimate, Soobin was already out of the room. Fortunately. He continued walking on tiptoes, directly toward his older cousin's room while strongly considering what to say to Yeonjun if he was awake. But in the middle of his train of thought, he was already standing in front of the door, and his hand had a firm grip on the handle. He just had to do it quickly, it was nothing special other than breaking into his cousin's room, borrowing his work files, and then sneaking a little into them. Nothing special. The hunter was dying over the thought of what his cousin would do to him if he found out.

A shock of fright went through his whole body as the door suddenly opened by itself. Maybe he had come to put a little too much weight up the door, and at the same time push down the handle. Now Soobin couldn't turn around.

The hunter quietly entered the room. The muffled sound of rainwater washing down from outside could be faintly heard. There was no other sound. Soobin quickly turned his head towards Yeonjun's bed, and luckily he slept. Relief washed over the hunter, and he quietly closed the door behind him. His still-splash-wet clothes dripped with water across the wooden floor across the room, where Soobin sat down in front of the desk. With a watchful eye on his older cousin, he turned on the screen in front of him. It started lightning fast, and like a gust of wind, he was already logged in to it and inside all of its storage files. Files there each contained important information about each individual who lived in the city. Stalker, you could call them that, but it was an important thing for a hunter to have control of such things. To know who was underworlders and who was not. And at the moment, Soobin was pretty happy that he was sitting in front of all the available files. If so he could find what he needed.

The files rolled down in long paths across the screen, and the hunter immediately began filtering between the crowd. And the first ones he sorted out were all those who did not have red hair. Of course, the hair might as well have been dyed, but now he was just trying. The next thing he sorted out was all the genders and then he pressed an age in from 15 to 20 years. He was sure she was not younger or older. And as expected, he found only a small handful of options, for natural redheads were a rarity in the city.

Soobin tapped into the first option, studying the information described and then the image of the first red-haired girl. Very thoroughly he looked into her eyes, but they did not seem to have that particular twist.

He did the same at all the files, but no one appeared to be her. Soobin felt disappointed in a way and had almost given up completely when he pressed in on the last file. His eyes moved unprepared over the information and then the image. And it was there that it all stopped for him when he saw the almost burning spark in the girl's eyes. Her red hair stood like a wildly-ridden mane around her face, which had a pleasant, almost sweet honey color. The girl was of Asian descent, which confused the hunter even more. How could an Asian girl have red hair as natural hair color?

Soobin's gaze flew like the next up against the girl's name.

"Cho Ember."
