Mia p.o.v

I watched as the guards rushed down the hallway, I was left strapped to my wheelchair. "WE HAVE A 5.41 IN PROGRESS ALL MEN TO SECTOR Q IMMEDIATELY!"

I watched a boy being consumed by his insanity, consumed by the fire that turned black and burned of rage. I watched as the uncontrollable flames danced until the cell door flew off his hinges and slammed dozens to the wall. I watched a monster with white glowing eyes that burned like fire and burned one's soul into ashes. I watched someone weak become strong, because of the sadness in his heart where love should be. I watched a boy without a purpose choose to become something else in order to mean something again. I watched a monster fighting to become human but forgetting what that truly meant along the way...

Eren p.o.v

"OPEN FIRE, TARGET HAS LOST CONTROL, SHOOT TO..." The man began to scream in agony as he instantly was engulfed in flames until he was nothing more then a charcoaled corspe. Some me keep firing and yet kept there distance, "TURN ON THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM THAT'LL SLOW HIM DOWN!" The water came on but before it could touch me time instantly stopped. I turned my head towards the person in the wheelchair down the hallway.

We have to escape, killing isn't the answer. We can reach the surface and live, take back what they took from you Eren.

My fire went out and somehow I came back to my sanity. I looked around to see bodies and blood everywhere most were burned down to the bones, I nearly barfed at the sight. Did I do this?

Yes you lost control.

I looked up shocked, "Wait you can hear me?"

Yes we can read each others surface thoughts, if you talk in your head and i'm close by I can hear and speak to you. Its how I spoke with you this whole time.

That was you!?

Yes but there's no time for this, my power is weak and Devi's coming. Get me out of these restraints and I'll take you to the surface.

I nodded and time started up again. I rushed to Mia and undid the straps and buckles that tied her to the wheelchair and the stray jacket. I took off the muzzle like mask off her face and seen her long slick black hair fall to her back, she looked at me with her shining blue eyes. "We should find the keys for these cuffs, Harley should have them somewhere." She raised an eyebrow at me, "You okay?"

She was wearing a gray shirt and gray pants just like the rest of us but she was definitely the definition of hot and her eyes was... "Hey anyone there?"

I shook my head back to reality, "What?"

She sighed, "I said Harley's office is that way, I'm sure in the rush he would have left his keys in his office so hurry up before..." Suddenly two dozen men appeared out of nowhere and had us completely surrounded. Harley and Doctor Devi was among them.

"Another attempt of escape I see, do you ever learn my precious Mia?"

Me and Mia stood back to back and got ready for a fight, "I can't fight without my hands, its up to you to by me some time."

I turned my head slightly, "For what?"

"You'll see, just remember these guys fear..."

"...What they can't control." I said finishing her sentence.

She smiled, "Just remember you have to be in control too, take deep breaths and feel the power rush through your body; don't let it consume you, let it power you."

"For a hot girl you seem to be really wise."

She flipped her hair, "Trust me I'm not, I just know how badly I want to bash this guy's head in."

"Agreed. On three?"

"1.2...3!" Fire began to consume me and I channeled it to my hand, launching a large fire ball at the crowd. I backflipped over Mia and punched a guy with my fist engulfed in flames and kicked another. I never learned how to fight but somehow this seemed natural.

I looked over to Mia who had just disarmed a man and threw him into someone else. "I can't keep this up where's Harley?"

I looked around, "I don't..."

"EREN LOOK OUT!" I turned around and seen a gun pointed to my head and Devi with his hand on the trigger. He smiled at me with his serious look.

I turned my head in order to get Mia in my line of vision, Harley had got her cornered. "Anymore ideas?" I called out.

"Just one..." I heard Harley scream and Devi jumped back just enough for me to maneuver the gun out of his hand and aiming it him.

I heard a clink hit the floor and Mia walked next to me rubbing her wrists, "Call them off Devi."

He laughed, "I don't have that kind of authority..."

I pushed the barrel to his head, "You tell us or your brain gets splattered all over this floor."

"Well it would be a improve..."

Mia cracked her knucles, "How would you like having us torture you for a change, wouldn't it be fun."

He giggled, "Why Mia it wasn't torture we were only just having..." I moved my hand to the trigger, "...Drop your weapons." The men dropped there guns to their side and Devi looked at me, "Happy?"

I looked down at Devi's hands and seen him holding up a three as if he was counting down. I looked back up to him and he grinned weakly, I stared at him seriously and watching his lifeless eyes stare back the same eyes that tortured me for months, "No." I pulled the trigger and the gun went off, Devi fell to the floor.

"Eren?" I looked at Mia, "We need to get out of here now!" She ran an I ran after her.

Harley coughed up blood on the floor, "What...the hell are you waiting for...open fire...find them...whatever it takes...just keep them alive."

"Sir yes sir!" They ran behind us.

We were able do duck in a corner behind a heavily guarded staircase. "That's our way out." Mia slid her back aginst the wall and sighed.

I looked at her leg, "Mia your bleeding?!"

She looked down, "I'll be fine jut gotta take it out and it will heal in no time. Might want to do it before my cells regenerate though, if it heals over the bullet I'll lose the leg."

"Regenerate?"

"Yeah how else do you think you've been surviving losing a eye, limb etcetera; Its a perk of us being different." She handed me a knife, "Stole it off Harley just get the bullet out don't worry about me I'll walk it off."

I nodded and stuck the knife into her leg, she clenched her teeth and groaned. I dug the knife around to find the bullet. "So Mia what's your story?"

She looked at me, "Are you really asking me that nooooowwwww..." I was able to get the bullet out, it was completely covered in blood and so was the knife. I looked at her and she sighed, "Fine." I smiled at her, "When I was four I was gifted but not like other children, this gift allowed me to manipulate wind, ice, time, even reading people's minds and move things with my mind. It wasn't really things you'd see from a four year old, so my parents..." She paused and looked to the floor.

"Its okay of you don't want to..."

"...They sent me to a government facility to get tested, they easily gave away their rights to raise me and I became government property, but when I got there my powers never surfaced. My parents were charged of lying to the government and were put in jail. I was put in a orphanage until my roommates saw the things I did I night, floating in my sleep, talking to myself about nonsense in the bathroom during midnight. At first they called me psycho and then they called me crazy." She looked at me, "When I went to go see my parents one day by myself, I yelled at them, screamed at them for abandoning me and my powers lost control and I killed my mom by short circuiting the phone. My dad is still in jail, he knew I killed her."

"Mia i'm..."

She peaked over the side, "...There gone follow me, this is our chance."

"What about..." She stood up and snuck over to the staircase before I could finish. I sighed and went behind her.

"We need to reach the rooftops." She said as she ran quickly up the steps.

"Rooftop!?" I exclaimed, "Shouldn't we be going down?"

"That's what there expected, they probably already have a army lined up down there waiting for us." She kept sprinting up the steps, "And keep your voice down these staircases echo."

"Right..." I rushed up the steps trying to catch up with her, until I heard a noise and tripped on one of the steps making a loud thump which echoed throughout the staircase.

"Hey I think I heard something!" I heard footsteps rush up the stairs.

"Let's go now!" Mia whispered. I nodded and headed up after her, suddenly one of the steps gave way and my door fell through the wooden step.

"Damn..."

Mia looked at the door only a few flights up and then back at me. "There it goes again, there definitely up here!"

I looked up at Mia and she sighed before rushing down the stairs, "Your so lucky I need you right now or I would so leave your ass to rot here." She grabbed under my arm and tried to pull me out.

"Ah fuck...these damn splinters are stuck in my leg."

"It'll heal your not a vampire you big baby." She yanked my leg out and helped me up the last flight of stairs. The door leading to the roof had a pad lock, "Stand back." I hopped down a couple of steps and shielded by face until I heard the door bust open. She reached for my hand and helped me outside, it felt like forever since I've been able to see the cool blue skies and wide open surroundings.

Mia let me lean on the railing surrounding the roof,while she looked around for a good route down. I took a deep breath of air and enjoyed the gentle wind on my face. It felt warm, like spring or fall maybe and according to the sun it looked like it was almost evening. The open scenery made me feel alive, free...all the torture and pain I felt instantly vanished. "This is amazing..."

"Yeah yeah being outside is great, now get over here and help me before those goons get here." I limped over to her, "Were going to need to jump." She said as she climbed over the railing.

"Wait what?!" I looked down, "Jump down where, there's nothing below other then a 60ft drop to our death."

"That's where you come in, I met a guy like you. I mean with your powers to manipulate fire, he was able to transport himself anywhere with a thought or snap of his fingers. If your like him that means you could transport us before we hit the concrete."

"So your whole plan is based off me having the same powers as some other guy?!"

"Yup, is that a problem?"

"Well yes that's a problem, your...insane!"

"Its worth a shot right?" Mia looked behind me and I seen the guys running up the step.

"Hey there they are!" They started shooting.

"Do you really want to go back there Eren, back to being locked in a cage like a animal, back to being tortured and dissected by some sadist lunatic, because that's not what I want and I would rather die then go back. So it's your choice, you either take a leap of faith or say goodbye to your last breath of freedom because they won't let you escape twice." I looked at Mia, then back at the guards shooting as the rushed up the last couple steps. "There's not much time Eren." My heart was beating a mile a minute and I was breathing fast, really fast.

The men were now on the roof with their guns out and loaded, they aimed at us. "Move away from the edge and put your hands up where we can see them, comply and you will not be harmed!"

I heard Mia snicker, "Like hell your not."

"Then you leave us no choice but to open fire." They took there gun off saftey.

"Eren!" I took a deep breath, turned around and leaped off the edge, grabbing Mia on my way down. I heard gun fire from the roof. "Eren focus, think of the sign out of town. You seen it before right?"

I couldn't think of anything seeing that I jumped off a rooftop and was falling closer and closer to the floor below, I closed my eyes and attempted to organize my thoughts, out of town out of town...got it... I remembered going out of town with my parents once it was awhile ago and the memory was fuzzy but I still remembered the rusted copper sign we passed by every time mom and dad had time off to go on vacation.

I nodded, "Okay just picture that and just focus all your thoughts and power on being there."

I took a deep breath, Take me to the sign... I was inches off the ground right before everything went black.

I opened my eyes and looked around,  I was alive..."It worked! You actually did it!" Mia jump hugged me, "We escaped, no more cells, no more stray jackets, and best of all no more Devi!" She was lucky my leg healed enough to stand straight.

I smiled, "It was thanks to you we made it out of the building in the first place, if it was up to me I would of got us caught in a flash."

She smiled and walked around, "True." She went over to a rock and turned it over. There was a map under it, "Thank you Emily..."

"Where did you get that?"

She knelt down and opened up the map, "This isn't the first time I tried to escape. There was this girl named Emily, we both tried to make it out but in the end I distracted the guards to get her out. I had been at CrossField for awhile so it only seemed fit. We would always say if only one of us made it out we would leave a map outside of the city of where we were heading just incase we found another opportunity."

I looked over her shoulder, "So where we heading?"

She smiled and looked at the spot circled on the map with the message, See you soon -E, under it. "Atlanta, Georgia." She looked up at me and packed up the map, "We better get going before it gets dark, its a long trip."

I nodded and started walking next to her, "So about the rest of your story?"

"I knew I should of left you back at CrossField." She said smiling.

"Hey I jumped off a building to save your life."

"Yeah whatever." We laughed and walked down the side of the road away from the city, away from the past, away from CrossField. Finally I was free...atleast, that's what I wanted to believe.
