Chapter 3: Survival

Find the will to survive...

I had finally came to and noticed I was still in my cell. The screams of the electrical chair rung in my ears and brought me back to my horrible reality. I tried to move but realized that my hands and feet were chained to the wall and blood had stained the floor. I was trying to recall what the he'll had just happened but it caused my head to pulse and I knew it was no use.

Suddenly a man came up to my cell and opened the door, there was a man next to him in a black suit and tie. The guy who worked here had a patch over his eye and bruises on his face, he walked over to grab me and revealed claw marks all over his arm. He unlocked the chains, starting with my legs and then my hands. He knew I was too weak to try escaping, which made me wonder if I did this to him. "Let's go X.269 its time for your tests." He put handcuffs on my wrists, usually insane people get stray jackets when their being moved but somehow I was different.

He walked me down the hall as the man in the suit lead. We had passed a room called, Testing room #1 and I got confused that was the room I was always taken to. The numbers further ahead kept climbing, #4, 5, 6, 7. Finally I had to ask, "Where are we going?" The man in the suit peered over his shoulder, his wrinkled face and his green eyes seemed to have a yearning behind them. The man leading me pulled me forward, and kept walking without saying a word.

We walked up to a door and the man in the suit tapped in a code. With every button pressed my heart sunk. The thought of what was behind the door tore through my soul like a 4 year old's present on Christmas.

Finally the door opened and hundreds of armed men stood guard. "Welcome to sector Q Mr.Shawl." What the hell is sector Q?

"Thank you." He walked inside and I was pushed to walk. Walking down the alley was like walking through Halloween town at night during the lunar eclipse, the place was frightening and even though there was security measures I still feared for my life. There was insane laughter, demonic smiles, dark lifeless eyes, and people who looked like they had a thirst for killing, and they called me a danger to everyone.

The cells here wasn't like the ones where I was, these ones had one way plexiglass and inside everyone was either chained to a wall or had a white mask with a few holes and a stray jacket. "91...92...93...94...95...96...97...98...99...100" There was a snicker and suddenly a man jumped towards the glass, I nearly jumped out of my skin "Hello Mr.Shawl." he snickered again and tilted his head. "Another new recruit?" He sniffed the glass like a insane dog and then started banging on it.

Mr.Shawl stopped, "What's it to you?"

I was rattling in my head about how he could see us, it was either extreme luck or complete insanity it just had to be. The guy had no shirt, torn shorts and short hair. One of his eyes looked to be a glass one while the other was a pale blue color. He turned to me and knocked on the glass twice, "You shouldn't kill this one, he's like Mia."

"Mia?" I questioned. Mr.Shawl lifted his eyebrow.

"Sir don't listen to such foolishness he's crazy."

"Crazy but right." He started laughing but it turned into a nasty sounding cough. We kept walking along, "This one's different, push him too far and there will be rivers of blood and the street, I know it. If he finds the will to survive none will live!" He called out. I heard him coughing out a lung as we walked further and further away.

"Crazy abominations, always spitting out lies about our day of reckoning." He said the last part in complete sarcasm, "What nonsense goes in their heads is beyond me."

We continued to pass the corridor, watching the insane individuals as they continued to freak me out. On the way I passed a cell with a person with a stray jacket, a muzzle like mask made for humans that covered their face, chains, and steel handcuffs that covered their entire hands. They looked up at me slightly, their eyes lifeless as the night though oddly seemed familiar.

We entered a room, the title above was blurred out completely and the only legible part was 'ore'. Once we walked inside and the door was locked behind me I had finally realized what the room title had said.

In the room there was a chair with lots of restraints and chains. Next to it was a bunch of sharp objects and torture devices, this was a torture room but why was it in a insane asylum?

The man behind me pushed me towards the chair, I couldn't catch my breath, it felt like the room was spinning on its head. "I don't want to be here." I told myself, "I don't want to be here..."

I was pushed into the chair and I went with my first instinct to start thrashing and yelling but sadly it was already obvious that I wasn't strong enough to resist. The man got the first restraint of my wrist and at that point I knew I was going to die... "Stay still you!" I had mentally given of but my body kept resisting, somehow it still had the will to survive...

Mr.Shawl paced around,my body finally gave up from fatigue and the man continued to lock in one restraint after the other, once the last one was around my neck he and Mr.Shawl walked out of the room and I was left in silent darkness.

Sometime during my isolation I fell asleep until I heard the sound of the metal door unlocking. My eyes opened slowly and out of nowhere the door closed and wind passed by my face right before pain rushed through my leg, I screamed in pain. There was laughter, "Such a beautiful scream, you will be a perfect subject."

The lights came on and I closed my eyes, remembering that my body was restrained from moving what so ever. Once my eyes adjusted I looked ahead, there was a man with a skull mask, he wore a black shirt under his lab coat. He had short shaggy black hair and an insane smile, it was obvious he belonged here.

He took off his mask and pushed up his narrow glasses, "Amazing, so your just like Mia huh?" There was that name again... He laughed, "Finally a new subject for my tests, I have many ideas planned for our time together, but first..." Suddenly his expression turned serious, he pushed up his glasses again and my heart stopped. He walked up to the tray of tools and picked up ten sharp metal needles. He pulled up a table from the corner of the room and placed the needles on a tray but kept one to pick his teeth. "Your name is Eren Raid, you killed your parents four years ago and burned your home. After being found guilty you were sent to a detention facility for twenty five years, but after several months of being there they called you crazy and sent you here." He looked over at me while he spinned the needle between his fingers, "Isn't that right?"

I nodded, almost too afraid to give a verbal answer. He walked around my chair before stabbing the metal needle into my shoulder, I screamed in pain. He snickered, "Since you were here you've been diagnosed as a danger to society because of your multiple triggers." He looked over at me and grabbed another needle. I nearly jumped out of my seat, my heart began to pound against the latches that wrapped around my chest. "You see Eren, your not crazy." He walked up to me and knelt down to look me in the eye. "Your special." He stabbed the needle in my leg.

He laughed hysterically, as I thrashed in agony. The needles felt like it was boiling my blood, and it burned like hell. "Extraordinary, even Mia wasn't this interesting on her first visit." In the back of my mind I questioned who was this Mia person everyone kept comparing me to, "No wonder that electrical none sense didn't work on you." He walked behind me grabbing yet another needle, he put the point to my skin, right below the strap on my neck, and my body froze in fear. "How did you break it?" I flinched when I seen his hand move and pricked myself, I felt blood trickle down my neck. He tilted his head and finally walked away. I gasped for air not even realizing I had stopped breathing that whole time, "Not a talker huh, we'll have to fix that."

My heart beat made the pain more intense, my hands shook in the chair and my throat dried up but I knew I had to get something out. I watched his hand reach for another needle, "Stop..." A vision flashed in my head, and a buzzing sounded in my ear but I seen the man stop reaching for the needle and looking directly at me. I took a breath, "I...don't...know..." with every word it hurt like hell.

"You don't know what?" He asked, his voice seemed intrigued.

"How...I...broke...the...machine." I said. I was starting to lose feeling in my leg.

He smirked, "I see." He looked away from me, "I hear your afraid of bees Mr.Raid." My body shivered, "Do you know the feeling of getting stung by a hive of them?" He looked over at me with his eyebrows raised. I gulped and shook my head. "Perfect." He rushed towards me with the remaining needles in hand, and began to push them into my skin. Two in my right arm, three in the other, one in my left eye, and the last two in my left leg. I screamed so loud it felt like my vocal cords was going to explode. With every needle he put in he laughed crazily shouting, "Like this and this and this!" Over and over until finally he stopped.

I struggled for air as I tried to recover from the pain as it ran threw my vains. "I can't help it, I need more. Give me more of your glorious screams and stain the floor red!" He laughed like a maniac and punched me square in my chest. I coughed up a pool of blood upon impact, he hit me again and then kneed me in the face. After another hit to the face, he had officially knocked out all the air from my lungs. I couldn't breath, my vision was blurry and my ears wouldn't stop ringing yet the blows never stopped coming. All I could do was clench my teeth and glue my grip to the armrest in the attempt to endure the pain.

I could hear my heart banging inside my head, "MAKE IT STOP!" I screamed. The pain...the pain...it hurt..."MAKE IT STOP!"

After awhile my body just went numb and I couldn't feel much of anything anymore. I just sat there with my head down, my black hair blocking my vision.

The guy put a finger under my chin and lifted my head so we would see eachother face to face. "Had enough?" I didn't respond, I lost my voice somewhere along the fiftieth blow. He smiled, "Good." He hit me on my cheek a couple of times and walked over to his tools, I didn't bother to look at what he was reaching for I just hoped that it would be over soon, I actually missed my cell now.

"Do you know what it means to be pyrophobic?" I glanced in his direction, I feared to lift my head anymore than a inch. "Its the fear of fire my dear boy." I heard him slide a match on a match board and my eye widened, he couldn't be... I knew I shouldn't have looked up but I did anyway and there he was, right in my face with a lit match in his hand. I jumped back in my chair and started thrashing erratically. "What's wrong Eren, bad memories?" Flashes of my parents, the house, the flames...it all flashed in my head at once and suddenly the pain came back with it, I could feel everything and I couldn't make it stop.

My body ached and burned as I fought to get away even though I knew it was impossible. He smiled and brought the match closer and closer until..."Stop." I looked towards the door, breathing heavily and barely looking up, to see Mr.Shawl and the man who brought me here waiting at the door, "That's enough doctor Devi."

The guy in front of me grinned and blew out the match, "Oh Simon do you always have to ruin my fun?"

"Its Mr.Shawl to you, don't forget I'm the one signing your check." The man came to remove the restraints and inject me with a needle, I assume would help with the pain.

"Money is such a minor matter, I do this for the greater good."

"Of course you do." He said sarcastically, "just watch the patients. Were trying to push them not break them completely."

"Yet that's the best part." Mr.Shawl gave him a look, "Fine fine I fully understand your concern."

"You better." He turned to me, "Let's go Harley, get him to his new cell quickly the next patient is coming in shortly." He exited the room.

"What a poor sport he is." Doctor Devi looked at me, "Don't you agree?"

"I wouldn't recommend talking ill about the boss, he'll have your head if your out of line." Harley dragged me out of the room due to me barely being able to feel my legs.

"And I will have his..." the door closed behind us.

I looked around, seeing the people differently then I did the first time, maybe because now I knew why they were like this.

As we went walked, we passed a couple of men wheeling someone in a wheelchair, they were strapped inside with lots of restraints. I could tell it was the person I had seen earlier. I watched them go by and for a moment my eye met theirs, a chill went through my bones. They will try to break you, don't let them. People fear what they can't control, this is how you survive. "Let's go!" Harley pulled me and I watched the people disappear into the torture room.

I was thrown into a cell and locked inside. I watched as Harley walked away and I closed my eyes trying to escape in my own mind and ignore how badly my body ached. I moved my hair to cover my damaged eye and weakly pushed myself against the wall before allowing myself to pass out.
