What Have I Done?

^^Snape > Hermione^^

Hermione couldn't stop grinning at Severus, who was sat eating his breakfast. He caught her eye a few times and smiled openly, Hagrid who was sat a few seats down had a grin on his face as he watched the pair of them two and fro. Severus left the great hall swiftly after his breakfast, only pausing to whisper something into Hermione's ear, he cupped his hand around his mouth as he whispered. "Look furious." He kissed her gently and marched away with his bat like cape swishing around behind him. "That bastard!" Hermione lied with a shriek, "what did the git say?" Ginny asked, "He took points!" Hermione sighed, she was becoming quite the actress. "For what?" Harry asked, apparently I gave him a nasty look." She groaned. "Well done 'Mione, make us all loose points because you decide to piss about." Ron barked narrowing his eyes, he looked at her with disgust and anger.
He hadn't forgiven her, she wondered if they would ever be friends again.

She could still feel his lips on the lobe of her ear, his kiss lingered continually. She felt happy inside, as though she could burst. He actually couldn't keep away from her and it was a huge ego boost. She picked up her things to leave the great hall, she thought she would spend the morning in the library. "Not so fast!" I voice called out from behind her, it was Harry.
"They are a gullible lot aren't they?" He smirked. "What ever do you mean?" Hermione asked uncomfortably. "Snape wouldn't whisper into your ear to tell you we've lost points, he would shout it from the rooftops! you know that as well as I do." Hermione rolled her eyes, "Fine, he was apologising for something he said last night in detention, he would hardly apologise in front of other people. YOU know that as well I do." She beamed playfully. Harry seemed to take the bait on that one. "What did he do that was so bad, that even he the great dungeon bat himself felt the need to apologise for?" Harry asked seeming genuinely interested. "He referred to the night we kissed, and he was rather insulting towards me." Hermione lied. "What an arsehole." Harry moaned, "I know." She sighed. "Well, I'm off to quiddich practice. I will catch you later." He said before taking off towards the dormitories to change.

Hermione headed toward the library and froze on the spot when she came face to face with Severus, who was obviously just leaving the library. As he had a book in his hand.
"Miss Granger, if you would care to follow me. I think this book might be of use." He spoke calmly and without the slightest hint of threat, what a difference a day makes.
"Certainly Professor." She replied as Professor Flitwick walked past, nodding to them both as he waddled along. Hermione followed Severus to the room of requirement, and he threw the book down on the floor. Pushing her up against the wall and claiming her lips as his. "I thought that book was of use, Severus." Hermione smirked into their kiss, he began to chuckle dirtily and told her "it was of use, it got us here didn't it?" He brought his lips down over her neck and held her possessively. She groaned as he left a trail of kisses along her ever so sensitive neck.

"You're such a rule breaker Severus." She joked running her hands through his jet black hair, it was so soft. Nothing like she had expected. "I only break the rules for you, you're like a drug to me." He said pulling away from their embrace. "Why did you need to see me so soon?" Hermione teased, looking up at him with a smirk. "It's just a bit of fun, don't you think?"
She couldn't help herself and launched herself at him, but he pushed her away with a chuckle.
"Later my dear, I have a meeting with Minerva. I think you should carry that book with you, if I see you remove it from your bag I will take it as a sign to meet you here." He winked and disappeared before he finished the sentence. Luckily Hermione grasped most of what he was saying. Who would have thought Severus Snape had such a naughty streak.

*****
SNAPE's POV

I was tired from the day, I had just got back from a meeting with the dark lord and Lucius. The latter was in a terrible mood with me after I punished Draco for his assault on Weasley, I made it quite clear that I could not afford to be seen having favourites at this stage, He's an intelligent man, so he understood. In my opinion he was just a coward like the rest of them. Still banging on about how Hermione and Ginny Weasley would be a great 'treat' once I had found a way to 'capture' them. Over my dead body! I will die before I let any of them harm a single hair on her head. As for Weasley, I mentally refused to play a part in her abduction either. All I could do was tell the dark lord I was indeed working on the matter.

You couldn't imagine the relief I felt when I finally saw her again, my beautiful Hermione. I pulled her tight to my chest when she arrived, I didn't want to kiss her, nor frolic around with her I just wanted to keep her safe. "Is there something wrong?" She asked, I had no idea why she cared so much for me. All I know is that I'm so thankful that she does.
"Nothing is wrong, it's just been a hard day. I've been to visit the dark lord, it drains me emotionally and physically. He has very cruel ideas." I explained, I couldn't go into too much detail. I'd terrify her.

"I understand, you don't have to talk if you don't want to. I'm here if you ever change your mind Severus." She smiled, placing a gentle kiss on my lips, this wasn't passionate. No, this was kind, sincere, loving even. "You really are perfect, insufferable at times yes, but perfect." I reached and wiped a few stray curled hairs from her face. Her skin was luminous like fine porcelain, but then she said something that completely threw me.

"I love you Severus." I froze when I heard those words, nobody had ever said that to me, 'I love you' three words I never imagined I'd hear in my lifetime. My mouth dropped open in shock. I wanted to tell her I loved her too, but I just stood there looking gormless and pulled away to think. "You don't love me too, I get it." She said sadly, trying to leave but I grabbed her. "It's not like that, I can't tell you those words because...." "Because, you don't. You never have and you never will." "I NEVER SAID THAT!" I screamed, becoming angry. "I'm just a play thing to you, like you said earlier 'a bit of fun'. Well is it fun for you now? Do you feel big and proud knowing you can humiliate someone? Go find a different toy Severus, this one has well and truly jumped out of your pram." Hermione roared, pulling the book i gave her from her bag and throwing it across the room, I grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against the wall, I had my arm raised into a fist. I caught hold of myself and realised what I was doing. "Go on! go on you know you want to! you're a coward." She spat, looking at me with a mixture of fear and distain. I lowered my arm and let her go, "Hermione.... I'm so sorry." I pleaded with tears in my eyes, but she had gone. she couldn't run away fast enough. "I'm a monster." I cried, slumping down on the floor.

"You're not a monster dear boy, a complete idiot maybe. However one thing you are not is a monster." Albus spoke from his painting. "What have I done?" I asked him desperately. "Its not what you have done Severus, but what you have not." He sighed. "Stop with the riddles Albus, this is not the time." I snapped, Albus scowled at me. "You HAVE NOT told her that you love her when you clearly do, poor girl feels rejected. Surely you remember how that feels? And you were just physically abusive towards her in a moment of complete madness and you HAVE NOT attempted to go after her to apologise! Why on earth are you still sat there?" Albus was right, again.
I wanted to go after her, but I couldn't.
'She is right, I am a coward.' I thought to myself.
