Hermione looked in the mirror and admired herself in her dress, her hair was immaculately styles in a low bun, she kept her make up natural because her dress was a statement in itself. She stepped out into the Gryffindor common room to wolf whistles from Seamus and Harry. Ron didn't say anything he just blushed and looked away. He was going with Katie. Harry's eyes lit up when Ginny came into the room, a green dress on a red head was always a lovely match.
"You're a very lucky guy Harry, I hope you know it." Hermione winked. "Oh I know it alright." Harry blushed and took Ginny's arm. "Young love.." Seamus joked and everyone giggled.

Hermione arrived at the great hall and saw that Eli was waiting at the bottom step, she walked down slowly and everyone's eyes turned to her. Including her favourite onyx gems, she could see pain in his eyes and she felt terrible about it. Even though he more than deserved it.
Eli offered her his arm and she took it with a small smile, as they passed Severus she caught his eye and he studied her beauty from top to toe. He gave her a look of pure desperation and she gave him a small sad smile, she didn't have the heart to scowl at him.

She danced with Eli and they laughed and joked together, she also danced with Neville and Harry, she thought about asking Ron but deemed it a bad idea so she made her way to Hagrid.
Hagrid was dancing carefully to avoid clumsily stepping on her toes, "ya look beautiful 'Ermione! Someone can't keep their eye off of ya!" He chucked looking over her shoulder and spinning her around so she could see, Severus.
She pulled away from Hagrid and told him she would dance with him again later, Hagrid dragged Trelawney to her feet and Hermione giggled at the pair. She approached Severus boldly and offered out her hand. He looked at it and took it eagerly, he led her to the dance floor and pulled her to him as a slow song began. "Perfect choice of song, would look odd otherwise." Hermione quipped. "I miss you Hermione, I can't cope without you." He whispered into her ear as they swayed along to the music. "I miss you too Severus, I never stopped loving you." She sighed and he smiled at her gently.

"I never stopped loving you, Hermione." He told her honestly, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "I always loved you, I was just afraid to admit it because that would make it real. I have been hurt many years ago, I let my fear ruin everything." He explained. Hermione gave him a small squeeze to show she understood, "can I come and see you tonight severus?" She asked and he nodded, "that would mean the world to me." He smiled and walked away. Eli approached her again "would the lady care to dance?" He quipped and Hermione looked over at Severus for approval, he nodded and smiled at her. He trusted her and that meant so much to her, she danced with Eli for the rest of the evening and although it drove Severus crazy inside he didn't mind. She was his again.

Hermione made her excuses to Eli and told him she had saved her final dance for someone special, Eli smiled and thanked her for an amazing evening. Hermione grabbed a large hand and pulled him back to the dance floor, Hagrid had a huge smile. "Saved the last dance for my favourite Professor!" She smiled, and danced with him again.
