I opened my eyes slowly. I glanced over to find a plate of lasagna on my nightstand. A fork was next to it and a note. I picked up the note and felt my phone. I eventually found it and turned it on. I had three missing messages, all from Bookie. I clicked on them being taken to our messages.
BookerBooker: Hey
BookerBooker: Hey?
BookerBooker: Guess you're asleep, night hope you sleep well.
The first message was an hour ago. The second one was forty minutes ago and the last one was twenty-five minutes ago. I sighed and facepalmed mentally. Did I sleep that long? Maybe I slept even longer, who knows.
CyberGeek: Hey, sorry I was sleeping but I'm up now.
I sent the message then used my light on my phone to see the note. I turned up the brightness only to drop my phone on my face. I groaned rubbing my nose while shielding my eyes. I eventually felt my phone vibrate and grumbled losing the brightness. I decided to check the notification a little bit later so I could read the note first at least.
Here's dinner, you should probably warm it up. Night bug ☆
I smiled gently and put the note down on my nightstand. I got up getting the plate and also getting my phone. I headed downstairs and put the plate of lasagna in the microwave and left the fork in a napkin on the counter. I turned on my phone and smiled seeing a message from Bookie and clicked on it.
BookerBooker: Glad to hear, have you checked out my new book.
CyberGeek: Oh, the one you talked to me about before?
I felt my cheeks heat up slightly. Two boys kissing was all in my mind. I mean he was writing a romance with two boys after all. But Oakely it's just a book, plus not every couple does kiss.
BookerBooker: *grins* Correct, I published it and I updated the other book. Tell me what you think.
CyberGeek: *smiles* Will do
I clicked back and went on our messages. I went to his profile and clicked on the new book he had. I smiled at the cover, it looked nice. I started reading, the first chapter was about 3,000 words. I don't know why I was so worried reading it. It was pretty much romance book just with the same gender possibly ending up together.
But then, I read that the main character was having feelings with his heart... His heart was beating fast and acting weird around this boy. The feelings were similar to the things I felt with Bookie. I gulped, my heart felt like it jumped into my throat and not in a good way.
A good way?! What am I talking about? Ugh and now I'm talking to myself... I'm going...
I'm going crazy with him.
I swallowed hard as I felt my heart flip-flop with thoughts of Bookie when reading that line. I was so confused and I didn't like what was going on. I decided I was going to read the rest tomorrow. I realized Bookie had to text me.
BookerBooker: How was it?
Ugh, I didn't even finish it. What was I suppose to say? I don't want to lie but what else am I suppose to do.
CyberGeek: It's pretty good so far
BookerBooker: Great :)
I felt my cheeks heat up and a smile come to my face. Then I gasped and smacked my cheeks gently as I felt my heart flip-flop. No no, it's okay. I'm happy because he's happy. That's normal.....right?
CyberGeek: Well I'm gonna head to bed, talk to you tomorrow.
BookerBooker: Aw, already :(
I felt terrible. That frowns face made me feel so many emotions. Bad emotions and I didn't know what to do. I could stay up...
CyberGeek: I can stay up if you want
BookerBooker: Psh, go to sleep Cy lol. Niiight
I huffed as my cheeks heated up. Why does he have to be so confusing, big meanie?
CyberGeek: Niiight Booookie
I turned off my phone and put it on the charger. I put it under my pillow and got up stretching. I walked over to my dresser and got my pajamas out then headed to the bathroom. I took a nice shower and got dressed then turned off the lights as I walked into my room. I closed the door behind me and headed over to my bed.
I laid down and couldn't help but to reach under my pillow. I pulled my phone out and turned it on. I was right, he had replied back. I laughed softly and put my phone back on my pillow. I closed my eyes smiling softly and eventually fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up and ate one of the two pop tarts. I realized today was Twin Day and I had no twin. I huffed pouting and slipped an Iron Man sweater on. I'm kinda getting into Iron Man.
When I walked into my first class I saw Vic already there. He was wearing a Joker hoodie. I blinked and he looked up at me then grinned.
"Guess we're going all superhero today again. Well, maybe not all of us." Vic chuckled and I giggled sitting down at my desk.
Eventually class started and I before it ended I finished my homework for that class. Our teacher was nice to let us have time to work on it in class. I walked to art class alone, Vic went another way. I was always curious where he went but didn't want to seem so nosey.
I sat down at our usual table. Clyde soon followed in and Farley too. Clyde was wearing a normal yellow sweater, but maybe he had a twin. Farley wore a Captain America long sleeved shirt. In a way, we could be twins I guess? I smiled at him and he smiled back. Some reason I paid more attention to his dimples then his smile. I looked away quickly as my cheeks heated up and I felt my heart flip-flop.
Ugh, not with him too. First Bookie, now with him. But it doesn't happen much with Farley so.... ugh I need to figure things out.
"Earth to Oakely." a voice said and I blinked eventually seeing Cory who was snapping his fingers in my face.
I felt my cheeks heat up. Woah, he's close. I walked backward and bumped into a chest. I looked up and Vic raised an eyebrow making me gulp as my heart flipped flopped. My cheeks felt very hot.
I eventually made my way to my seat. Well after squeaking then I buried my face in my arms wanting to crawl in a whole. I didn't use to people being in my personal space. I felt a tap on my arm and jumped.
"Sorry sorry," Clyde said waving his hand and I relaxed huffing.
I eventually got to work, we had to do an art project dealing with value. As I was getting paper I realized Cory was wearing a Harley Quinn shirt, was he possibly Vic's twin?
I wanted to ask but I decided to wait until lunch to ask. I did as much work as I could. Turns out he also wanted us to work with dimensions, which I used the third dimension. I didn't get to finish before the bell rung, so tomorrow I would need to try to. As always I walked with Farley.
I decided today was the day I would start a conversation to fill the awkward silence we usually had when walking. But what should I ask? What topic should we discuss?
"How's your morning been so far?" I heard Farley asked and I blinked turning to him then felt my cheeks heat up.
"Good I guess, yours?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Same," he said and I nodded as a million things invaded my brain of what to say next.
"Did you know you and Clyde's eyes are like beautiful." slipped from my mouth which I immediately covered, feeling my cheeks heat up.
Farley glanced at me. I noticed his cheeks were slightly pink. I kept my mouth covered still though, just in case I said anything else weird.
"Um...thanks?"
Yep, he thinks it was weird. He thinks I'm weird and awkward which I am. But he doesn't need to know that more than I do.
"I like the color of eyes too, including your hair," he said and my cheeks heated up then I gasped.
"But your hair color is also so beautiful!" I said and my hands out of my control touched his hair going through it.
I froze as heat slowly consumed my whole face. I pulled my hands away and found Farley's face pink. He ruffled his now more messed up hair, which I felt partly bad about before he walked off to our biology class. I followed in toe as silence once again filled the air. Awkward, flustered silence.
During Photography class we had a long lecture. I made sure to take notes- Well try to. I barely remembered what he said. Which meant these notes could be very important if I would need to remember for something from the lecture, in the future possibly.
But soon lunch had arrived. Farley and I walked together, I saw Lily and Cory already at the table. Farley got lunch while I went to the table with my lunch bag. PJ for me today. I could just taste it now.
I sat down and Lily instantly turned to me. "Can't wait for Genderbend day?" she asked excitedly and I shrugged feeling slightly bad for my distant response.
"I am," Cory said smirking and Lily squealed making him laugh as I blinked.
Well, at least Cory was getting used to Lily. Faster than I am for a matter of fact. Which means I'm really an awkward potato.
I huffed slightly to myself and pulled my sandwich out then bit into it. Cory and Lily were chatting it up while I sat there eating. I couldn't wait when the others came. Or maybe I should try to join the conversation. I took another bite and swallowed then put my sandwich down.
"I just don't know what to do...how to look like a girl," I said and they both turned to look at me blinking.
"You have the feminine looks." they both said and I pouted.
"Makeup," Cory said snapping his fingers smirking.
"Tie your hair up," Lily said playing with my hair which made me scoot away, almost out of my seat.
Eventually, Farley and Vic came with raised eyebrows. I looked at them pleading for help with my eyes. Vic smiled and sat as Farley snorted doing the same. Either they were ignoring me...nope, face it Oakely they were ignoring you.
Lunch was kinda long. With the guys whispering things here and there while Lily and Cory talked about me transforming into being a girl. Which Farley and Vic began to listen in and I guess they forget about Genderbend day.
"Ugh, I don't want to be a girl." Vic groaned as Cory smirked.
"You already look like one," Cory said and Vic shot him a glare.
"You have no right to say that," Vic said and of course, they began to go back and forth. Lily tried to stop them which I guess this would be a normal thing. Farley seemed to watch amused as I sat there in awkward silence.
"You're a bitch." Cory glared and Vic glared back.
"You're the bitch," Vic growled lowly and Cory smirked.
"Let's stop guys," I said now with a grown as Lily nodded.
"Childish," Farley said shaking his head earning glares from the two.
Lunch was over with a cold silence. Which of course it became awkward. Guess Cory and Vic were really mad at each other this time. I walked to English with Lily. She kept talking about how she could help me look like a girl but I was thinking about Vic and Cory.
We sat next to each other but did our own thing. It was mostly quiet in the class and 8 think that's how the teacher wanted it. I didn't mind it too much anyway. I liked reading when it's quiet.
Soon band came along and we were practicing as soon as Ms.Housewright took attendance. I didn't get to talk much to everyone much but Clyde. And to my last class which I didn't like too much, this time we got a study guide. Most of my classes were handing out study guides all but English, Art, and Photography.
I knew when I got home I would have a lot of work to be doing. My quizzes were on next Monday and my test in History would be in three or two weeks. Dad dropped me off at home since he started work late today. I made my pot pie to eat for dinner. As that was warming up in the oven I was on my bed waiting for a reply from Bookie while doing my study guide for Algebra 2.
I heard beeping the same time I felt my phone vibrate. I grabbed my phone and hopped off my bed then ran out my room then down the stairs. When I went to the kitchen I opened the oven then put mittens on and pulled my pot put out and put it in another bowl. I got a spoon and took the mittens off then closed the oven and checked my phone.
BookerBooker: Hey :)
I hummed to myself texting back knowing I couldn't text back once I picked up my pot pie, it was hot. I would most likely drop my phone, the pot pie, or both trying to carry both of them.
CyberGeek: Hey, what are you doing?
Sounds a bit nosey now that I think about it. But it was too late, I had already sent it. I sighed slipping my phone into my pocket and picked up the pot pie, hissing softly and blew on my hands. I started walking to the stairs then up to them while still blowing.
I felt my phone vibrate but I was still walking to my room. As soon I was close to my bed I sat the pot pie down on my nightstand and took my phone out my pocket then flopped down on my bed. I turned on my phone and crossed my legs. I grabbed my pot pie and placed it in the middle.
Thinking it was Bookie I saw a missed phone call from mom. Which kinda makes sense now that I think about it, it vibrated more than once. But I thought maybe it was updates or Bookie texting back multiple times. I called back humming to myself until she answered which at the same time my phone vibrated.
"Hey, mom," I said smiling to no in particular.
"Hey, how are you?" I heard shuffling and I assumed she was at work.
"Good, just a lot of tests coming up." I sighed.
"I'm sorry Oakely, well I better not keep you on the phone too long huh?" she asked laughing softly.
"It's okay mom," I said leaning back.
"Well I just wanted to check on you, do you like your school so far?" she was asking more than what dad asks, but I guess dad can see me. And dad could probably tell or would think I would come to him if something was wrong. So I guess he assumed things were good.
"Yeah, it's good," I said nodding even though she couldn't see.
"That's good, made any friends?" she asked and I felt the corners of my cheeks rise.
"Yes, I have Vic, Farley, Clyde, Cory I think, and maybe even Lily. Oh and-" I stopped myself before I said, Bookie. Mom would probably not be happy with me talking to someone I didn't know about an app.
"Oh and what?" she asked.
"Farley's dog...Pepper." I said laughing nervously.
"Oh okay sweetie." she laughed. "Well, I have to go now, good luck with studying I love you."
"I love you too," I said softly.
"Night, sleep well," she said softly also.
"You too," I said before she hung up.
I sighed in relief then leaned my head back. Did I just lie? It wasn't lying...was it? Was it....wasn't it? I felt something and it didn't feel too good. I eventually remembered I got a notification and checked.
BookerBooker: Homework, you?
Should I be texting him? This person I don't know...
CyberGeek: Thinking and doing homework also
I sent that and started to eat my pot pie that had cooled off a bit. I started eating and doing my homework. Multitasking can be hard but I think it can be done in a way. I felt my phone vibrate and checked it while chewing.
BookerBooker: Thinking about what?
I swallowed hard and started to chew my lip. Should I tell him? I mean....can I trust him? Why am I thinking about all these things all of a sudden? It's not like he asks me for my name, where I live, or pictures of me..... It's me who wants to ask for these things actually. So I'm the weird one.
CyberGeek: You
It only 30 seconds for me to realize what I just sent. I squeaked and gripped my hair. My heart was flip-flopping as I felt my cheeks heat up. I sound like a total weirdo. Oh, my gosh oh my gosh I am done for! Why oh why me? Why did I send that? Why can't there be a delete button? He wasn't answering, probably thinking weird things. Gah!
I started typing quickly an explanation. But I was too late. As I was typing my phone vibrated and there was a reply from Bookie.
BookerBooker: Um.
I quickly erased all of what I was going to say and retype. My face was burning and my heart was out of control. This was not good for the heart.
CyberGeek: Gah! DON'T THINK WEIRD THINGS I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE THAT!
BookerBooker: Lol I wasn't thinking anything
CyberGeek: LIES!
BookerBooker: *ruffles your hair* why are you yelling?
I huffed feeling my face burn less but still heated up. My heart was flip-flopping as I pouted and text back.
CyberGeek: What were you thinking then?
BookerBooker: I was curious what you were thinking about that had to deal with me
I sighed huffing and ruffled my hair. Maybe I should tell him. I do trust him....I'm just afraid of what my mom might think. Or what my dad might think. I sighed again and began typing.
CyberGeek: I don't think my mom would like me talking to you...
I felt down all of a sudden. My heart felt like it was beating slow. I also felt my shoulders slump.
BookerBooker: Oh, if you can't talk I understand.
My heartbeat began to quicken. But it wasn't a good feeling. I gulped and felt my hands began to get sweaty.
CyberGeek: Okay...night
I went to sleep early last night. And I felt my throat hurting and my eyes burning. In the morning I felt no better. I felt sick to my stomach but got ready anyway. I had a small ponytail that looked slightly curly and I put on a white long sleeve shirt and skinny jeans. I put on red converses and ate a bagel for breakfast. I let dad know that I would be walking to school today, which I knew would take a while but I was early.
I hummed to myself walking with my yellow backpack that was slightly heavy but not too bad that my back hurt. I eventually made it to school, a lot of others walking to the building also. Most were probably dropped off though. I opened the door and held it for someone before walking in them heading to my first class. My eyes widen and I blinked at...Vic?
He was wearing a white shirt with yellow flowers and his hair out up in a ponytail like usually but more feminine. I think he might have been even wearing lip gloss?!
"U-Uh Vic?" I asked walking to my desk and sitting down.
"Victoria actually," he said turning to me looking gorgeous I might say....my cheeks heated up.
"Hey, you look good," he said grinning and my cheeks heated up more.
"Tha-Thanks so do you," I said and he flipped his hair.
"Why of course and thank you," he said and I laughed.
Soon class started which it felt kind of long. We worked on the study guide and then got other work to do. The class eventually ended and I had only a few more pages left to do if my study quite. I headed to art with Vic which happened at rare times but they were nice. Vic would mention something or ask something and I would reply or answer. I was getting used to talking a bit more.
Clyde was at the table with a flower clip in his hair and a-a dress?! I stood in the doorway of the classroom blinking. Clyde looked up with pink cheeks that match his dress.
"Hey, guys," Clyde mumbled with a wave.
"Hey," I said blinking and walked over to the table then sat down.
Cory soon ran in with a girl cheerleader outfit on. I guess these two must have shaved or don't have that much hair on their legs like me. Cory had pigtails and poms.
"Well well, Corina," Vic said smirking and Cory rolled his eyes walking past him.
"Victoria," he said then sat at the table. "Hello Claudia, Oakely we haven't thought of a female name for you yet," he said and I pouted.
Farley soon came in. I had gotten used to all the changes of people so I prepared myself. But Farley was his normal self just in a white sweater, light blue jeans, and brown flats.
"You didn't participate?" I asked the same time Cory did except his was more of a gasp and anger mixed with it.
Farley blinked at Cory then shrugged sliding the straps of his backpack off. Guess I wasn't the only one who didn't use my locker. Cory was still glaring at Farley as we all got to painting or drawing. When art ended I walked to biology with Farley.
"So you really did the whole genderbend?" Farley asked.
"And you didn't?" I asked and realized that sounded very rude. "Sorry..." I mumbled glancing down at the ground walking.
"It's fine." Farley. "I just couldn't bring myself to do it." he shrugged going to aid the class and I followed.
Today we were learning about how baby's get a certain eye color. It was pretty interesting, after taking notes we had to see how it was similar to mixing colors of liquids. Which I was terrified of doing but it was for my grade.
Photography I also walked with Farley. I wanted to start a conversation but I felt like I had upset him so I decided against it. Soon as we were seated he past out study guides for the quiz which would be on next Tuesday. I groaned mentally and used a book in the class to do the study guide.
By time lunch came I was very stressed. I had so many quizzes next week including a test. And Bookie and I might never talk again. Let me not forget I have Vic's game to go too. But hopefully, by next Friday, I'll be stressed free.
I noticed once again as I walked to the table with my tray, Lily and Cory were at the table first. I walked over and blinked. Lily was wearing a white tank top and a green and yellow flannel button up. Her hair was in a ponytail but it looked more boyish and she wore dark jeans and red converses like me.
"Lloyd you look fabulous," Cory said flipping his hair that was in pigtails and Lily giggled.
"Still no name for me?" I asked sitting down and Cory shook his head pouting which was a rare sight.
I laughed and some of the stress I had released. The others soon came and most of them were bothering Farley about not participating. Only Clyde and I didn't join in ate. Eventually, Clyde changed the subject.
"Who feels like high school is going to break them?" Clyde asked raising his hand and Cory's hand was soon in the air then Farley sighed also raising his hand. I also raised my hand but not as high as the others.
"It's just high school, wait until college," Vic said shrugging and began to eat.
"He has a point," Lily said giggling as we put our hands down and Cory scrunched up his nose at Lily.
"Don't agree with the enemy," Cory said and Vic rolled his eyes.
Lunch ended on a nice note. Everyone was chatting it up. I was chatting with Clyde about quizzes we had to do. Vic and Cory were arguing while Lily tried to stop them. Farley joined in both conversations. We split up and I walked to English with Lily.
So far I was halfway done with my book. I started doing summaries of chapters I have read. I also had to answer certain characters like the main characters. I headed to band after that class.
Ms.Housewright started moving us around. I was slightly far away from the others. I didn't like it one bit. Farley and Clyde were next to each other on the far left. To my luck, Vic was moved in front of me so I wasn't surrounded by people I didn't know and would be awkward with.
In history, we got time to work on our study guide. Dr.Grant told us to circle certain questions, which were the ones we had to do. I was kinda upset since I did some questions I didn't have to do.
I ended up waiting for dad. Everyone else probably had walked home or went on the bus. I found Farley at the same tree last him it was just him and I.
"Hey," I said stepping up and he turned then blinked.
"Sorry didn't recognize you for a second," Farley said laughing softly and I huffed feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Are you walking home again?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Actually I'm supposed to be picked up-" he began and I heard a honking noise.
I turned to my right to see my dad's car. I turned back to Farley. "Sorry," I said frowning slightly and he shook his head then shooed me making me pout before walking to my dad's car.
I waved to him before getting in. Dad stopped at the Penn station before taking us home. I loved their lemonade and their Philly cheese steak.
I was in my room eating it while working on my study guides. I finally finished my algebra 2 study guide. As I started working on my biology one my phone vibrated. I assumed it was Bookie and it ignored it. We weren't going to talk....that is what we agreed on. My heart thumped and it ached immediately.
By the time it was six I had finished two study guides. I glanced at my phone on the charger on my bed as I put my work up. I chewed my lip and grabbed it then turned it on. I already knew I had missed calls or texts. I assumed they were all from Bookie. Turns out they were all YouTube notifications, all but one.
BookerBooker: Hey?
I felt my heart flip-flop and my cheeks heat up. I knew I was smiling by the pull of the corners of my mouth rising up. I knew that I was developing something new. Something strange, and I didn't like it. But I couldn't lie, I kinda did.
~4695 words O.O I'm so sorry guys that it's been so long. I realized I was dragging along in the story and needed to speed the pace a bit so I kinda stuffed two days into a chapter. Until next time my potatoes.
