Twenty Eight

Rose

We only had a few days left until we had to leave France.

We had been there for almost a week and I had spent so much time with my sister that I never thought I could.

I was going to miss her, badly. She was only a phone call away but it wasn't the same as seeing her. We both had Portal so we had each other's presence but I was going to miss being around her. I didn't want to cry when we had to leave.

Cristiano had a fight coming up, Gage was due for an appointment with Gen, Dax had some business to attend to and Jordan, well, Jordan didn't actually have anything to do back home like me. We all had to go home though.

I had another problem to face and I was doing everything I could to avoid it.

Holy shit, this is amazing

"What the fuck are you eating?"

I looked up and met a pair of grey eyes. My eyes expanded and slowly moved down to the rolled up pancake with ice cream, chocolate, chips, strawberries and Nutella.

"Um. . ."

I licked my lips, swallowing as my eyebrows creased. I looked down once more at my disgustingly unhealthy wrap that I was enjoying.

"I still need to figure out a name for it," I replied, meeting his eyes once more. His grey ones moved down and curiously looked at my wrap. I took a bite, chewing and swallowing happily. "Stop judging my pancake wrap, Gage, it's freaking delicious - want some?"

Gage's face scrunched up at the sight of it. "That's so - what possessed you to make that?" I shrugged, taking another bite. "Mm. ." I began before swallowing and meeting his eyes once more. "I was craving all of it so I put it all in one little wrap."

Crave

Oh shit

I looked down at the wrap again, suddenly feeling sick and uncomfortable as I realised where the 'craving' was coming from. Unexpectedly, I tossed the wrap into the bin, wrapping my arms around myself as the beach's cool breeze blew over me.

I pulled a strand of my hair behind my ear before giving Gage a beaming smile. "Have you seen-" I paused as I looked around, my eyes landed on a particular area not too far away. My jaw clenched and suddenly, I no longer felt happy.

"This fucking idiot," I muttered under my breath in disbelief. My face was burning with anger.

"Rose?" Gage asked in a cautious tone as if he knew the level of anger I had going on in me.

"I'll be right back," I replied, licking my glossed lips and barely looking at Gage as I stormed away, beginning to stalk over to Cristiano, alone, on the wrong side of the beach, away from the party, with a familiar woman.

"Hey, bitch, move," I called out, a fake smile plastered on my face. She stopped trying to kiss him, her hands on Cris's bulging biceps. "He's taken so stop flirting." I stalked over, my face burning with anger and fake sweetness.

Her eyes disrespectfully glanced at me from head to toe in disdain. She sucked her teeth and rolled her eyes, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "Bitch, please. He's mine so tone down that creepy ass possessive vibe of yours. You're like Monday - no one freaking likes you."

"Wait a minute, I'm standing right here and-"

"Funny," I shot back with a chuckle, chewing onto my gum and leaning my weight on one of my legs, a insincere smile on my face. "It felt like I was the whole weekend in bed last night."

I placed my hand on my hip, raising an eyebrow at her. "If anyone is fricking jealous, it's you. What the fuck are you doing here, Vanessa? Oh, didn't you get the hint? Did you really waste a money on a whole ass flight to France to follow your true love?" I sarcastically cooed, a sickly sweet baby voice in my words.

She let go of Cris and stood in front of me, a hard glare on her face but I was not intimidated at all. Who did she think she was?

"I don-"

"Are you serious, right now-"

"Yes, I am," I snapped back, beginning to get more and more annoyed by each second. "He's cute, I know. You need to walk away, bitch. Touch him again, I dare you."

Her fucking fake ass nails touched my man.

She touched my man.

SHE TOUCHED MY MAN!

Then I stormed over and before I knew it, she was in the ground screaming.

I was punching her, screaming obscenities, and pulling her hair. Then she dragged me down and I was under her, punching and scratching me like a bloody cat.

We rolled around in the sand, screaming at each other and fight over my man. I was hitting her as hard as could, remembering all the tactics from the boxing gym. Fighting wasn't new for me. To survive, I had to fight and in that case, to prove a point, I had to fight.

I knew people were gathering around; I could hear Cris yelling me to stop, Jordan cheering me on and other people screaming and chanting in French and English.

But one voice got me.

"Rose! This is my bloody birthday party! Get off her!"

Oh shit

I got distracted and she punched my stomach which got me.

My stomach

My eyes widened and a horrifying scream left my mouth of anger. My hands balled up into fists tighter than before and I punched her, a loud crack coming from her nose as blood gushed out of it. I straddled her as she screamed, my fingers going to her eyes, about to gouge them out until I was grabbed and thrown onto someone's hard shoulder.

"Put me down! Let go of me! Stop!"

I yelled, wriggled and shouted to be free but not once did the person stop nor care. Then eventually, I was thrown into a seat, my eyes finally moving up and meeting the pair of hazel ones.

"Rose!"

"Cris!"

"I'm proud of you but-"

"But what? You don't want the red head to beat up your precious Vanessa?"

"Rose!"

"Cris!"

He sighed, kneeling in front of me and shaking his head, taking my fists into his hands. "Ro. . .it's Juliet's birthday. You also don't need to fight over me-"

"You would do the same so don't talk all that shit," I snapped back harshly, rolling my eyes and huffing as I leaned back in my chair, sucking my teeth. "For fuck's sake! What is she even doing here? Why were her hands all over you?"

"Calm down! Just calm down! Please. I can't talk to you when you're mad."

I exhaled loudly, folding my arms tightly and staring out into the sea, trying my hardest to calm down.

I slipped down from my chair sat on the beach's warm sand, my eyes moved from sand to stone, from rock pools to breaking waves. In the gentle sunshine I gradually felt more relaxed. I ran my hand through my hair and sighed softly before meeting a pair of hazel eyes.

He sat beside me, an arm wrapping around me. I placed my head on his shoulder as he sighed quietly.

"It doesn't matter why she's here or how she's here or what she's doing," Cris gently told me before lifting up my right hand, showing me my ring. "But I trust you and you trust me so that's all that matters."

"I don't know why I got so angry," I quietly told him, although deep down, I had an idea as to why. "I'm sorry - urgh, Juliet," I recalled, snapping my fingers. "I need to apologise."

"Yes. You do." My eyes immediately moved upwards and met a pair of blue ones. She cocked her head to the side and raised an eyebrow as she placed her hand on her hip. "The slut is gone so hopefully you won't beat anyone else up."

"Juliet," I began guiltily with a sigh, "I'm sorry-"

She waved her hand, smiling at me with a small chuckle. "It's fine, Rose. Come on, dance with me."

I faked a groan, pushing myself up as she dragged myself onto the sand where everyone was dancing. I managed to turn my head and look back to see Cris. He gave me an encouraging smile, his eyes twinkling and I smiled back, giving him a small wave before turning and going over with Juliet.

Juliet's birthday party was on a beach with a whole bunch of people she had invited. She had introduced me to so many people who she knew that I could barely remember anyone's names. I was happy for her and soon, we had to leave so I was trying my best to spend as much time as possible with my sister. I was going to miss her dearly.

We started dancing and she had that weird, curious glint in her eyes that told me she was about to say something risky.

"So. .do you like tests? I like tests; I think they're really good to see how you're doing - I think you should try a test - you know which test you should try? A p-"

"Juliet!" I groaned loudly as I stopped dancing, shaking my head at her with a huff. "I really don't want to have this conversation right now."

"You've been avoiding it every single time I've tried to ask!" She disputed with a groan, her eyes giving me a 'come on' look. "Rose! You can't hide from the truth."

"I know," I softly replied with a sigh, wrapping my arms around myself. I licked my lips and glanced back up to her, meeting her concerned eyes. "I'm just. . .I'm not ready."

She rubbed her lips together and nodded, sighing gently. "I understand, Rose. That's how I felt too. But you have to face it because it won't be avoidable forever."

"I know," I responded gently, biting my bottom lip hard. I sighed, my eyes flickering over to Cristiano who was laughing with the guys and some other unrecognisable friends he had made. A small smile came onto my face at the sight of his happiness. "Just please don't tell Cristiano - or anyone, Juliet," I seriously asked her, my eyes on Cris. Sighing softly, I added, "I wanna accept it first then be the one to break it to everyone."

She nodded, a smile on her face. "I won't, sis. Now come on, show me your moves!"
