Thirty One

Rose

"Change your fucking clothes before I pin you against that wall and destroy you."

Bending over, I stared into the mirror, I rubbed my coated lips together before applying another layer of magenta lipstick across my full lips.

I glanced one last time at my makeup before standing up straight and turning. I leaned against the table and sighed, rolling my eyes. "I'm not changing my clothes-"

He scoffed loudly, "you call them clothes? They're pieces of fabric on your sexy ass body - which belongs to me and no one else needs to see it. You're getting changed."

I grew annoyed and glared hard at him. "Sheesh, Cris. I'll wear what I want. In fact, who the hell did you just kill?"

"What do you mean?" He innocently asked which irritated me even more.

"Oh, you know, the person you shot ten minutes ago behind the building? I'm not stupid, Cristiano!"

Cristiano rolled his eyes, tossing his phone on the bed. "You don't need to know. Change. Your. Clothes. Now."

I scowled at him, folding my arms as I huffed. "I've pissed ten times and its only the morning. Every single time I've went to pee, it's been tiny parts which is irritating the hell out of me. I've threw up every single damn day for a week and I don't like the same foods I used to. You won't let me eat junk and I'm constantly feeling nauseous and ill. I am not in a good mood, Cris, so don't fucking test me."

Then he chuckled deeply, his eyes scanning my body. "There's one thing you should know about me, Rose."

I raised an eyebrow, giving him my best challenging look.

"I always get my way."

So, I ended up leaving the bedroom with some baggy leggings trousers with a matching black crop top and a slap against my butt.

I was surprised the man had even let me wear a crop top that showed my stomach - my growing stomach.

"R-oooseee. ."

I rolled my eyes and turned, a familiar sexy man approaching me. He went down in front of me and my eyes followed him. Pulling down my leggings a little, my belly was exposed. It looked like fat at that moment though it was our baby growing. Eventually, I would have a bump and I was excited to see it.

Being pregnant had many disadvantages such as peeing, morning sickness, headaches, cravings, mixed emotions, tiredness and confusion.

But I knew it was all going to be worth it in the end. I was gonna be a great mother to my baby. I vowed to myself to be as amazing as my mother was to me, but even better. I wasn't going to let anyone harm my baby and I promised to give them the best childhood - life ever.

I was going to be a mother. I still had to process that.

A few weeks had gone by since I announced to Cristiano, finally, that I was pregnant. He was overjoyed and overly excited - more than me. The man wouldn't stop kissing and cuddling me or asking to see my stomach. I was being showered with love and he treated me as though I couldn't do things for myself anymore.

"Hi, baby," he cooed, leaving kisses on my stomach. I tried to keep an annoyed look on my face but his sweetness towards our unborn baby softened me. "I love you so, so much. Are you giving mommy a hard time? Can you please be nicer to mama? She's really tired and won't give papa any lovin'-"

"No, that's because dada is being annoying-"

"-because baby, you're irritating mama which means she's irritated at me-"

"My baby does not irritate me-"

"-anyway, dada can't wait to meet you, baby. I hope you're a strong, little boy, baby. But I don't mind if you're a sweet, little princess."

I smiled, pushing his head away and rubbing my stomach. I pulled up my leggings as he stood, a playful smirk on his handsome face.

"Come here," I muttered, pulling him close and pressing my lips against his, his arms wrapping around me. Our kiss was short and when we pulled away, Cristiano's beautiful eyes locked with mine.

"I love you and I can't wait for our baby to come."

My smile extended and I pecked his soft lips. "Me too, Cristiano." He slapped my butt and I rolled my eyes at him which caused him to chuckle. Turning, I knocked on Dax's door.

Moments later, he answered. As he opened the door, I noticed how messy his hair was and how red his face had turned. He had no shirt on and only a pair of loose, grey trousers.

"Rose. Cris. Morning. What's up?" He breathlessly asked, practically panting.

"Did we just disturb you from mas-"

I slapped his arm lightly and gave him a look before turning to Dax and replying, "morning, Dax. I was wondering if you knew where Tori was?"

"She-"

"She's in his bed," Cristiano responded for me bluntly.

I rolled my eyes at my boyfriend before he added, "I need to talk to you, Dax, so-" he pulled Dax away from the doorway of the bedroom and took him away. I couldn't help but chuckle before walking into Dax's half messy bedroom to see Tori, like Cris had said, in his room.

She was leaning over Mira's temporary crib and lifting her out, cuddling her as she sat back down onto the bed with messy sheets. She too looked flustered and her hair was messy. She wore Dax's shirt only and her head snapped up at the sound of me.

"Rose, morning!"

"Hey," I replied with a kind smile as I walked over, sitting on the edge of the bed. "I heard you wanted to talk to me." Mira's big brown eyes gazed up at me and I smiled, leaning forwards and planting a kiss on her cheek which made her smile and snuggling close against her mother.

"Yeah. Um. Mira called Dax 'dada' and I honestly don't know what to do. I'm freaking out and I know he's freaking out so I need your advice, Rose."

"Well. . ." I began, completely surprised by her dilemma. "Uh. .this has never happened to me but. . .I'm sure everything's okay if you guys, clearly, have been dry humping or something this morning-"

Tori gasped, throwing a pillow at me which made me laugh. "What? It's the truth, right!"

"I am not answering that!" Tori bursted, her cheeks going deeply red. I smirked at her, waggling my tongue at her. She rolled her eyes at me, a small smile forming on her face.

"I don't know, Rose," she softly started, her smile extending as she chuckled softly. "He's just. . .everything to me and it feels like I didn't move away and my feelings for him are still there. We just connect and. . .I still love him. He was my first love - is. I love him more than I loved Riley, and I know he's a good person to Mira. He treats her like his own and sometimes I can't help but wonder what life would be like if she was his."

"But she's not," I reminded her benevolently, with a warm smile. "So it's up to you to decide whether you want Dax to a father figure to Mira or not. Do you know what happened to Riley?"

Tori shook her head, her smile faded at the mention of her ex. "No. Dax refuses to tell me so I stopped asking. He's not my concern anymore and I don't want him anywhere near my baby anyway. So. . .I think I want Dax to be a father to Mira if the time ever came for our relationship to build up to that. That's if he wants to, of course. But I feel guilty at the same time because Mira already has a dad."

"To be called 'dad', you have to earn it," I told her seriously, our eyes directly locked. "He hit his eight month old daughter. He lost that title as soon as he did that. If anything, Dax is earning it."

She nodded slowly, biting her bottom lip as she looked down at Mira who was too busy playing.

"I feel - know I - Mira and I have a future with Dax. But I'll see how our relationship goes first then I'll decide."

I nodded, giving her a reassuring smile. She cleared her throat and gave me a beaming grin. "So? How's it going, baby momma?"

I groaned softly, burying my head in a pillow which made her laugh. I sighed, putting the pillow down and meeting her eyes. "It's hard being pregnant, Tori! I'm only a month in and already, I'm exhausted."

Tori chuckled lightly, shaking her head. "I remember being pregnant. Geez, it's got ups and downs but it's all worth it in the end," she informed me, cuddling Mira. "I got my beautiful baby and you will too. For any name ideas?"

I shook my head, sighing. "I'm not sure. I never really thought I'd ever be pregnant because all my relationships went downhill. I was really pessimistic. I don't mind which gender either. I just want the baby to be safe and healthy."

She smiled knowingly, agreeing. There was a knock on the door and I turned as Tori called out, "Come in!"

Gage walked in wearing some black jeans, a neatly ironed, white, button-up shirt and some expensive trainers. His hair was perfectly combed and he looked good - clean. His skin was practically glowing. In fact, he looked handsome.

He was fixing his cuffs and came in saying, "morning, ladies and princess. May I please steal the pregnant red head?"

"You may," Tori replied with a smile. "I gotta breast feed anyway."

I rolled my eyes and bid a goodbye to Tori and Mira. With a sigh, I followed Gage out of the room, closing the door behind me.

"Yes, grey eyes?"

"I have an appointment with Genevieve today. They're gonna try and wake her up and I could really use your support, Rose."

My face changed and I immediately felt sympathetic towards Gags. I nodded, licking my lips. "Yes, okay, I'll go with you."

"Thanks, Rose," he said, giving me a kind smile. "I'll meet you downstairs in the car?" I nodded, giving him an assuring smile. "Yeah, just give me five minutes."

~~~
When we arrived at the hospital, I noticed how nervous Gage got.
In the elevator, he drummed his fingers against the wall, tapping his foot impatiently and looking around swiftly, exhaling loudly and slowly a few times.
"So. What's it like being pregnant?"
A soft laugh left my mouth as I glanced over at him. "Interesting. It's not easy but it's gonna be worth it in the end. Gage, stop pacing around."
He froze and leaned against the wall, sighing and rubbing his eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm just anxious. Last two times haven't worked and. . .they're saying that if this time doesn't work, maybe it's time to turn off the plug."
"Don't give up on her, Gage," I seriously advised him, our eyes locking. "No matter what, I don't want you to." He nodded, giving me a small smile as the elevator doors opened and we walked out.
He was nervous.
His hands were practically shaking and he ran them through his hair, realising he had messed it up and patterned down his hair, exhaling slowly to calm himself.
"Rose. I'm shitting myself. I'm so fucking nervous."
"Gage," I softly said, stopped him and looking into his eyes kindly. "Just breathe in and out slowly and calm yourself. Everything is going to be alright. You have to think positive." He nodded, inhaling deeply before exhaling slowly. He did this a few times before nodding once more and licking his lips. "Alright. I'm good."
I nodded at him before pushing the hospital door open to reveal Genevieve in the bed, a man and a woman sitting in the seats beside her bed.
The man was tall and muscular - bigger than Cris and the idiots' muscles. He was older and in a way, he actually looked kinda handsome. He must've been more attractive when he was younger. His face was strong and hard, emotionless yet authoritative. Once his eyes landed upon us, his scowl grew and his wrinkles were exposed.
"Get the hell out of here, you mongrel, before I call security!"
His wife's teal eyes immediately widened and she stood as her husband did, his body hostile and tense towards Gage who was clenching his jaw and looked as though he was contemplating on leaving. She placed her hand on his buff chest, pushing him back ever so gently.
"Honey, please. He hasn't done anything wrong-"
She automatically stopped as his eyes turned cold and gave her the most dangerously intimidating glare I had ever seen. She swallowed and closed her mouth, sitting down and looking at Genevieve, her teal eyes dull. I pitied her automatically; he was the bullying type of husband.
"Get out!"
"Okay, first of all," I snapped, taking a step forward towards the man who was much, much larger than me. Gage pulled my arm back but I yanked it from his grasp, annoyed that an old guy thought he had the right to attack one of my idiots.
"You need to chill the fuck out. Gage hasn't done anything wrong. He is the most sweetest man to Genevieve and has done nothing but treated her as a queen so I don't understand what your issue is with him. Don't you want your daughter to be happy? She is with Gage. You're the one ruining it! She wants him and he wants her. She's not a little girl anymore. Stop bullying women and controlling your wife and daughter. This is the 21st century; sort yourself out. So that is the last time you're gonna insult my friend, you hear me?"
There was a silence.
The man was glaring down at me and I stared challengingly back up at him, not showing an bit of fear although inside, I was shitting myself.
Then there was a clear of a throat behind us. I glared at him once more before turning to see a group of doctors behind Gage.
"Uh. . .shall we begin?"
Sat beside Genevieve, Gage held her hand in his, his face solemn as he gazed upon the love of his life.
"Gen, I want you to know that I love you so much; more than words can say. I knew I'd fall for you since the day I met you."
I noticed the tears forming in his eyes. He held onto her hand, caressing it softly.
"You're everything to me, Genevieve and right now, I need you more than ever. I've lasted over a year without you, Gen and I don't know if I can go on any longer without you by my side, baby. I miss you so much, Genevieve, and I just want you back. I miss your kisses, your laugh, your smile, the sparkle in your eyes - everything, Gen. I'd do anything to sit in the sunrise with you. God, I love you."
He sighed as a tear ran down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away, gazing at her.
"Let it all out, Gage."
As soon as he heard my advice, more tears ran down his cheeks. He looked down, his face hidden from me and he was trying his hardest to keep all of his emotions, that were desperate to come out, in.
My heart ached at the sight and tears came into my eyes as I thought about how much Gage really loved Genevieve. The poor man wanted his girl back and I was praying in my heart that she would wake up.
"I need you. .I can't do this alone. Please, come back to me. I love you."
Then the doctors did their work.
We waited and watched.
Waiting and watching.
Waiting and watching.
Waiting.
Watching.
Waiting.
Watching.
Nothing.
Then the doctors do that 'look' that they give each other when they know something is wrong.
Gage catches on and his eyes move to them before looking back upon Genevieve, whispering prayers and begging her to wake up quietly.
Her parents were gazing and the wife was holding back from sobbing, her body loosening and her head shaking as she buried it into her hands, giving up.
Come on, Genevieve
Wake up!
Come on, Gage needs you!
Please, please, Lord, let her wake up
I bit down onto my bottom lip hard, gazing at her and not giving up.
Gage's stormy, grey eyes were determined as he gazed at her, squeezing her hand.
Uncomfortable, tense, minutes went by and eventually, the doctor cleared his throat and began, "we'll have to put her back, I'm afraid. Perhaps another day. But it's important not to lose hope-"
Then Gage lashed out and punched the wall, groaning loudly in anger and frustration. I sighed softly, my eyes moving upon Genevieve who wasn't moving at all.
He ran his hand through his hair before burying his head into hands, breathing heavily in rage. Gen's father stormed out, his wife still watching Genevieve. She sighed, her eyes glancing over at me. She gave me a small smile before she closed her eyes, burying her head in her hands.
I took Gen's hand and squeezed it gently, watching her. "Genevieve," I whispered, watching her. "Come on!" They were putting her back into the state that she was before but I didn't want them to. I wanted her to wake up so badly.
"Sir, If you need anyone to talk to-"
"The only person, I wanna talk to is my girlfriend who's stuck in that bed and you want me to let go of!"
"Sir, you're going to have to calm down-"
"No-"
I zoned out, a feeling suddenly hitting me.
Oh
My
Gosh
My eyes moved over and landed upon my hand holding Genevieve's. The same hand that had just squeezed me.
She squeezed my hand
She actually squeezed my hand
My eyes widened as she did it again, that time, her hand gripping onto mine tightly for a moment before stopping and loosening. The doctors noticed too.
"Gage!"
His eyes moved over, widening as he realised her eyes were moving under her closed eyelids.
Was she waking up?
Then a soft moan came from her, the machine beating rapidly as her heart rate increased. She groaned, her eyes still closed.
Then her other hand twitched, moving upwards shakily to her chest.
Her mother gasped as her shaking hand moved upwards more to her mouth. Another moan came from her and she looked as though she was trying to open her eyes?
Her hand held onto mine harder then finally, a loud cough came from her. The doctor pulled off her oxygen mask and the tubes coming into her mouth which made her cough some more, wheezing and breathing heavily.
She coughed a few times, her eyes still closed them eventually, it stopped and her hand loosened on mine again.
Oh no
Please
Wake up
Her eyelids moved then snapped open before shutting once more, immediately.
Her mother gasped, a sob leaving her mouth.
Genevieve groaned softly, coughing once more before her eyes gradually opened, blinking and blinking before finally, they stayed open. She stared out. Her eyes were beautiful, absolutely beautiful. They were stone emerald and brought life to her face.
Gage fell to his knees, struggling to send any longer as he gaped at Genevieve, shaking his head in utter disbelief.
Then her chapped lips parted once more and she only spoke one word:
"Gage."
__________
Disclaimer: Gage does tell Genevieve everything that happened between him and Rose, and she's cool. I forgot to add that in during the story.
