"It's always good to be home. Fortunately, all of us including Junho, arrived. I'm grateful for Junho's kindness. Through him, I learned that a good leader looks out for his/her team. " Aera writes on her journal while waiting for her driver to come to the airport.
The carpool arrived, she huddled up and kept all her luggage inside. Through her car's window, she had a picturesque view of the city that had a dazzling array of colors. She looked up at the interactive billboard that stated "Hellsing Vampire Hunters: Recruiting New Members! ". Taken aback, she stared at the billboard with her palm against her forehead due to shock. She figured that the government found about the existence of vampires.
As soon as she went home, she gave her sister a hug. "Areum! I missed you!" Aera uttered as she finally clasped her into a warm and tight hug.
"What happened? Is the government planning to kill every vampire around?" Aera was curious, still not letting go of her sister.
"Our clan is fixing up a plan. They have allegations that we, the vampires, are the cause of the missing people. When in fact we have never consumed human blood for years." Areum, breaking off from the hug, replied.
"Our clan is finding a way to clear our name to the government. Slowly but surely, we will get through this. Have hope, Aera. " Areum's nose crinkled as she holds Aera's hand tightly.
Thereafter, the following days were quotidian as ever. The demanding and stressful cycle was never ending. Patients keep coming in and doctors keep receiving them with open hands and hearts. Before heading to work every morning, Hyesoo and Yuna go to Starbucks to get their frappes. Today, they invited Youngjin and Hanbin. Walking to the mahogany colored counter, they hear the buzz of the coffee machines whirring. They shared a couple laughs and cheer while waiting for their usual orders.
"Ah today is going to be busy with pedia." Yuna scratched her head, sipping on her mocha frappe.
"Oh so you won't be able to go on a date with me then?" Hanbin pushed his chest out, trying to get Yuna's attention as he winked.
"Sshh!" Yuna's eyes narrowed, crossing her arms.Hanbin had eyes that lurked around, carefully viewing his surroundings, he took a look closer and saw Junho with a lady wearing a pink dress, looking presentable and classy.
"Guys...guys! Look at Dr. Junho, lover boy of the century!" Removing the lid of his latte, his mouth open while basking in the view.
"Oh my god... Are they dating? " Hyesoo darts her eyes, screening the girl's outfit.
"She looks pretty." Youngjin steals glances at her.
"Who's pretty? I suddenly have a scalpel and I'm ready to dig this deep in!" Giving a sour expression, shaking her head because of Youngjin's statement.
"She's not Junho's type! He told me about her. She's literally trouble waiting to happen." Shaking his head, Hanbin replied.
At a distance, Dr. Kim Junho and Zhou Yuri shared a serious conversation over cake and coffee.
"I tried the drug on someone recently but a vampire's body is really powerful. It could withstand the realms of time. Honestly, the people are still figuring what drug could fully make a vampire lose its life. Currently, the drug that we have been testing has only weakened the vampire's system. "Yuri leaned back at the couch, feeling comfortable.
"Well it's good if it is improving. But I've heard bad news. I heard the organization has been using human test subjects. A prosecutor, Jung Areum, held a trial against our org. Do you believe in it?" Junho tilted his head, tapping his fingers on the chestnut brown table.
Yuri's face turned pale upon hearing those words, stuttering as she replied. " Uhh...uhh... No! Our organization is founded on moral practices and the good of everyone."
"I will not hesitate to leave if they're doing that. It's disgusting. While, we doctors, are trying to save our patients. People are out there killing their own kind." Glancing at her sideways, he had a hint of suspicion.
"Anyways Junho... Can we talk about us?" She takes his soft hand, slipping her fingers around it tightly.
"There is nothing to talk about." He loosens her grip, balling his fist after he puts his hands on his pocket.
"You never really liked me eversince?" Her eyes which were shades of brown twinkled in sadness.
"I just came to talk to you because I wanted to say that I haven't seen any vampire organizations around in Burma so please relay it to Supremo. " He stood up, removing his coat that was draped around the corners of his chair, hooking it behind his shoulder.
He bids farewell, walking past her without hearing her reply.
Before opening the door to leave the café, he notices his colleagues at a distance, waving at them before he left.
"It seems like they had an intimate conversation huh?" Yuna taking a few chugs of her frappe, replied.
"As intimate as our relationship!" Hanbin nudged her, teasing her.
"Hanbin, can you shut up if you have nothing else to say?" Yuna rolled her eyes at him.
"Are you guys dating? Who would even think we'd find love at the hospital." Hyesoo replied with a grin pierced on her lips.
Yuna kept her cup down, crossing her arms as she listens to Hyesoo's statement. "Look who's talking, the girl who was wild with her boyfriend at the Naksan beach?"
"Time check everyone! Let's get back to business!" Youngjin started humming to Mulan's song, being the comedy king he is.
"Let's leave, guys. I have a consultation with my patient today! He has extreme headaches to the point that he also gave me a headache dealing with his case! " Youngjin added sarcastically. Youngjin had to treat a patient with a thunderclap headache.
A thunderclap headache is also defined as a severe headache. It is an explosive type of headache that usually lasts for a whole minute with the peak intensity of pain. These headaches usually occur due to bleeding of membranes around the brain. He rushed everyone, pushing each one of them to start heading to work.
At the cardiology department, it wasn't that much of a busy day. Aera got out of the consultation room, heading out for a break.
Junho passed by and stopped infront of her.Her gaze sets on his tall muscular built, his messy brown hair draping down his face. He basks in her tantalizing caramel brown eyes. Their eyes established a deep communication, knocking down the windows to their soul.
Junho approaches her and greets in the silliest way. "Hey Aera. Will you be my G protein so I can be coupled with U?" He gave a pickup line with genetic reference.
"Enough...Junho! I'm letting this pass because you saved my life there in Myanmar." She chuckled, her cheekbones protruding as beamed a sincere smile.
With his hands shoved inside his pocket, he leans closer to her and says "Hmmm... You don't seem to be grateful." He moved closer, breaking the distance between them until her back unconsciously leans flat on the wall.
"So how do I repay you?" Her eyes squint as his eyes were fixated on her, noticing how their faces were just inches away.
"I think I know how." Junho gulped, leaning forward slowly, his hand tucking her hair away from her face. And as swift as the blink of time, he brushed his lips against her velvety soft lips. His kiss sent her mixed signals, rushing in her brain. Her lips resisted at first, but slowly it melted into his. He continued kissing her torridly, not getting enough of those lips he has always dreamt of exploring, his arms pressed her harder against the wall. Adding spice to the kiss,he slides his tongue in exploring her caverns as she engulfs her arms around his shoulder to secure her in the position. Aera tilted her head to give him more access, he continued devouring her lips that tasted like honey, cream and bliss. Junho didn't care if anyone would see them.
Suddenly, Aera woke up from reality. She broke off the kiss followed by landing a rough slap on his face.
"Don't do that ever again!" She wipes her lips with her hands, running away from the scene.
Junho stood still, he was embarrassed, scratching his nape as he laughed it off.
All of the nurses were in shock, their jaws dropping right after Aera slapped him. Hanbin, who witnessed everything, approached Junho, his hand patting Junho's back.
"Bro, she gave you a taste of the medicine you needed!" Hanbin muttered.
"The kiss?" Junho asked.
"No, the slap! Hahahaha!" Hanbin points at him, unable to control his laughter.
