Betrayal is a sharp knife, cutting deep to the bones. It is when you let your guard down and people break your walls of trust. What could hurt more than that? Junho walks in Hellsing's hallway, recollecting fragments of memories he has shared with Aera. Doomed as he remembers trailing his fingers on her body, seeing the DC mark. Clearing his thoughts, he shook his head, getting back to reality.
Bulky men started bringing in a number of civilians, all bruised, weary and tied up. "Human test subjects. We brought them, sir."
"H...h...human test subjects?" His heart was racing, breathing in and out deeply as he cracked in a low voice.
Junho was alarmed, seeing the amount of human test subjects left him in consternation. "Oh are they the human test subjects? I'll accompany them with you."
The two men furrowed their brows but they permitted him to tag along. He followed the men who brought them in to a dark and isolated room.
"Leave them with me. I'll lock them in." He asks for the key to the room. As the guys handed the key to him, he locked himself in with the victims. Knowing it was dangerous for him, he didn't mind, curiosity triggered him.
"I want to help you all out so please tell me how this came about?" He sits face to face with a woman, drenched in sweat and tears.
"No! You all are the same! I thought Hellsing would save us from the spread and rise of vampires but what you guys are doing is you're terminating the whole human species just to look for a drug that will work on vampires! You are all sick!" She pushed him away, punching his shoulder repetitively and targeting his face.
Dodging all the fists that tried to land on his face, he uttered. "Please calm down. I promise to let you all out, just give me time. "
"You all are the same! Disgusting animals! The true evil people are you not the vampires who haven't even attacked anyone!" The hysteric woman yelled while the other people screamed for him to leave.
Heaving a deep sigh, he left. Locking the door as he calmed himself down. "What have I signed up for?" He looks at himself with disbelief, disgusted by himself.
Suddenly, Hellsing's Director Lee Chanhi comes up, patting his back.
"Kid, you look umm... rather tensed? Come we all have a general meeting now." Chanhi, who recovered from his heart surgery got back to business with Hellsing.
"Ah... It's nothing, sir. I see you've been doing well since your heart surgery." He replied as Chanhi wraps his shoulders on his back dragging him to Hellsing's auditorium where they'll have a meeting.
Upon entering the auditorium, he caught Zhou Yuri's piqued glance. She greets the director, bowing slightly, as she prepared the area for the meeting by putting all the necessary stationary materials on the table.
Chanhi, sat in the middle of everyone, taking a lead in the discussion.
"First of all, I'm so happy that the drug is finally working. Our attack to Jung Jim, injuring all his bodyguards with the Aspivarix is strong enough to work on both humans and vampires. I'm sure that Jung Jim guy has his human and vampire bodyguards together. Both humans and vampires collapsed with that drug. "
"Jung Jim? My hospital's director?" He tilted his head, facing Chanhi's direction.
"He's the vampire who attacked Samantha Goo and also the relative of the vampire we have as hostage, Jung Rita." Zhou Yuri taps the pencil on the table, noticing the confusion in Junho's eyes.
"All the Jungs are vampires, Junho. Even your girlfriend, Jung Aera. " Yuri rolled her eyes at him.
Old news. That's what Junho thought after thinking of Aera. Hellsing knew it all but never bothered to tell him, he looked dumbfounded in the meeting.
"What else do I have to know then?" Junho asked, trying to feed his curiosity.
"Hmm... My company the Zhou's Drug Development is a partner company of Hellsing and your girlfriend's sister, Jung Areum, is holding a case against our company. It's all true, Junho, my love. We take all people in, random civilians in the street for human test subjects. We're the cause of the missing people!" Her smile was menacing, evilness radiating.
Taking time to think, Junho realized Aera was right. He felt all the regret as he pushed her away. Heaviness in his chest built up like a thousand swords were stabbing him incessantly, he was fooled once again. Regrets hauntingly stayed with him like a thick fog, blurring all his thoughts as he stayed silent in the meeting.
"Aw. Look at Junho so startled, what a concept to see." Bursting into a witch-like laugh, she snickered wickedly.
"Wait... wait... Dr. Jung Aera?" Director Lee Chanhi's face was flushed as he remembered her saving his life with a surgery.
Nodding her head twice, Yuri evilly smirked. "Do you know her?"
"Well... she's the surgeon who prolonged my life. I never knew she'd be apart of the lefties! Haha!" Giving a preposterous laugh, Chanhi clapped his hands.
Junho was indecisive of his thoughts but he didn't want his emotions to completely control him. Without being noticed, he sets his phone's recorder on to gather all information. Reopening the topic about human test subjects, Junho asked. "Ah forget Aera. Hellsing has been taking in street civilians as test subjects?"
"You see... the only way we could exterminate the vampires and ask the help of the government is by making them look bad to the public and framing them as the criminals. At the same time, we are developing a drug to exterminate vampires thus testing it on domesticated animals who don't have the same anatomical structures as us is useless. We need human beings that are closely related to vampires. With each human test subject we get from the street, we tell the government that the vampires have been taking these innocent people. It's all accounted for, kid." Hellsing's sinister intentions were revealed. Chanhi gave a shallow smile, his deep piercing eyes laid on Junho.
"You see... We're hitting two birds with one stone. We get test subjects for the drug and we get to ruin the vampires name to the mass media. Good idea right? But we should find a way to end them all for real." Yuri replied, sitting comfortably on the chair before taking a sip of the tea she prepared.
Silencing the whole room, Junho gave an idea. "Use me as bait."
"What do you mean, Junho?" They asked.
"Plan on attacking me. When Aera finds out, I know she'll crawl her way to save me. Knowing she's apart of the Jungs, a powerful vampire family, a lot of vampires will come when she tries to rescue me. With the amount of vampires, we can take all of them as hostage, preparing for mass extermination." Junho suggested, giving them an idea. He was heartlessly siding with Hellsing, leaving behind all the treasures of memories they have shared.
"Oh damn! Why would you even do that to your girlfriend, Junho?" Chanhi laughed at him.
Junho's expression was ghastly cold as he lets his destructive and turbulent thoughts take over him. "She lied to me. She deserves this." Pressing the button to stop the recording on his phone, he uttered unsuspiciously.
