It was a cosmic night. A night of holding eachother firmly like a force field of intimacies; it was a big bang evolution over again.
That morning, his bare figure rolled over, putting his arms around her, pulling her closer. The sun was slowly creeping in, it was accompanied by a chilly zephyr and gem-blue waves that were constantly ebbing onto the shore. As soon as Junho wakes up, he peppers kisses on her sensitive neck to wake her up. Aera wakes up, rubbing her eyes before she faces Junho.
With his playful advances, he pecks her lips, smiling against the kiss. Giggling in between the kiss, her mouth quirked at the corner.
"Enough now." She pinched his nose that was scrunching against her fingers.
Junho shook his head. "But I want to hold you more." He held her nearer, covering her frame with his muscular arms.
"I don't want to." She kids aside, turning away, her back facing him. He trails his fingers on naked back, his eyes set on her white dainty smooth skin. His hands go further down near her buttocks, noticing a DC mark on her lower back. He was confused, breathing heavily, his arms breaking away from her touch.
"Get dressed." His voice slowly shifted into a low and stern pitch, grabbing all his clothes on the mat, changing his bottom-wear under the blankets. She figured that the atmosphere changed, she did the same wearing her clothes from the inside.
He stood up, his solid chest and brawny muscles revealed, as he quickly wore his polo. She stood up wearing the same dress from last night, he took her by the hand and looked into her eyes.
"Aera, do you want to share anything to me?"
His voice sounded like he was doubting her and she knew it; she felt that he knew about her real identity right after what happened last night.
"Junho, I'm sorry." She uttered.
"Why are you apologizing to me?" He played dumb, his voice still calm as ever.
"I lied to you." She referred to hiding her identity.
"Why Aera? Why did you have to do this to me?!" He releases their hands, his voice trembling out of anger.
Defending herself, breaking into tears as she tries to explain her side. "I just had to protect my kind. We aren't doing anything wrong! Everyone is passing the blame on us when we've stopped drinking human blood for long years. Infact, I know Hellsing is not faultless either!"
Junho stood there silently, a blank-faced expression evident on his face. He was disappointed that the girl he loved most betrayed him.
"I know about the Zhou's case." Changing the topic, she said.
"Why does that even concern you?!" He frightened her with a roaring loud voice.
"You told me last time that the Zhou Yuri was apart of Hellsing right? I know that their family's investment is in drug developments. My sister is holding a case against them for trafficking of human beings and using them as test subjects. I'd like to believe that there is a connection to everything. The drugs they're trying to test on both humans and vampires are for Hellsing." She added.
"Don't tell me you've suddenly earned a degree in the field of Law? Cut the crap." He dismissed her ideas with blunt sarcasm; he figured it made sense in his head and it sparked the curiosity to seek for the truth.
"I'm just telling you that we aren't doing anything wrong. Secondly, I'm sorry for using you as a source of information." She tries to grasp his hand in the air but she noticed him moving away, she kept her hand down slowly.
"You knew I had genuine feelings for you, you were my weakness. But taking advantage of my vulnerability just to get what you want was a cheap move. You could've done better. Honestly, if you told me earlier, I'd give up Hellsing. I'd give it up for you. I'm a fool for you. But you did this. You lied to me. You used me. You did me dirty."
"I'm really sorry, Junho. Every moment we shared was genuine. I meant everything I said and the things we've done."
He looked away, trying to hide the tears building up in the corners of his eyes. "What?"
"I meant it when I said I love you." An aching hollowness grew in her, her sadness flowing like an endless river.
"If you really loved me then you should have not done that." Wiping away sheds of tears from his eyes, he walked away from her as he clutched his chest, controlling his tears.
On the next days, life was busy at the hospital. Stumbling upon eachother, they ignore one another like strangers merely passing by. When Seojun finally got discharged, he met up with Aera in his house. She sat down comfortably in his black linen couch.
He offers her a cup of tea, putting it on top of the center table.
Aera, remaining silent, had a blank face, thanking him for the tea.
"So what are your plans now? Are you okay?" Seojun notices how gloomy Aera's expressions were.
"I've got dumped." She stares blankly at the ceiling, crossing her legs as she sat.
"Rejection is a part of life. You'll carry on. For what reason though?" He asked.
Aera lowered her head, feeling unwell. "Well I lied to him and he found out that I was a vampire. I was so foolish."
"How did he find out?" He asked once again.
"We did it." She said.
"What is it?!" He exclaimed, his eyebrows furrowing as a sign of confusion.
"It!" She was awkward to tell him, masking her innocence.
It took him awhile to understand, finally figuring out that something happened between Aera and her lover.
"Ah...I get it. I didn't know you had that side in you." He grimaced, laughing cheekily.
"Shush! It was my first. I'm flustered till now but I feel like I betrayed him." She hushed him, her forehead creasing.
Seojun changed the topic, focusing on their plans against Hellsing. "You did. But let's forget it. Let's plan for our next move against Hellsing."
''I actually got information from him. I wonder if I should use it against Hellsing."
"You should. Tell me. I'll help you." He suggested, after all he worked as a body guard; he could help her out easily.
Shaking her head, she said. "It means I'm fully betraying him then if I'd let this information out."
"I'm sure he'll do the same though since you lied to him. We need to clear our names as vampires. We need to prove our innocence.'' He discussed.
Finally making a wise decision, she shared all the information she knew. "I know where Hellsing makes drugs. We could get the chemical formula and its components easily in their Drug Development room. Through that we could also develop a drug that would combat us from mortality and death. I can say I have no expertise in that field but I know the elements present in their drug. Other doctors from DC could help out. When viewing the drug they made, I actually saw Adenosine in the ingredient list. Adenosine can slow or stop the heart rate. We need to take action soon."
"Is that the drug that almost killed me? How did you get to see it?" His curiosity sparked in.
"Yes it is. I went to Hellsing one night because of that guy. I was able to wander around check the area."
"Sneaky girl, you really used him." Seojun snorted.
Aera glared at Seojun as she heard the word "use" and that triggered her emotions wildly. "No I love him but I love me too. I love my family. I love my friends. I love our fellow vampires. I don't want to live a life of secrecy anymore. I aspire to live in a world where we vampires are socially accepted. A life where we aren't labeled as blood-sucking fiends. A life where we aren't the deviants of this society. A life where we aren't the antagonists in their story."
"I'll be the protagonist in your story then. Let's go. I'll get that chemical ingredient paper of that drug." He stood up, wearing his black leather jacket and his black cap.
She nodded, a smile twitching from the corner of her mouth as Seojun bends to her level to put a cap on her head.
"Wear this too since we shouldn't be seen by anyone." He hands her a mask to cover her face.
They both wear their masks as they were riding his car until finally they reached the destination.
"So you just take this entrance then go straight ahead till the dead end and turn left. You'll see the Drug Development Laboratory. The name of the chemical is called Aspivarix. Take a picture of the drug content behind the container." She gave him orders, staying inside the car to wait for him.
As swift as possible, he came out, rushing to the car, locking the two of them in it. He pulls his phone out showing the chemical components of the drug in a picture.
Her voice hinted good faith and sincerity as she gave a grateful smile. "I knew I could rely on you."
"I got you, Aera." He gave her a thumbs up sign, buckling his seatbelt as he starts the engine of the car.
