My Old Rival Pt.1

I really don't feel like writing battle scenes at the moment. At least it will be battle than the last chapter. Welp, here we go.

Your POV

I slapped water on my face, urging myself to wake up properly. It was seven in the morning, and I already needed to concentrate. Yesterday Shu and I had been training all day. Of course I was tired. But I needed to wake up and think for the up coming match. I dashing back to my room, throwing all my clothes away until I reached my usual outfit. Somehow Shu's hoodie was still there. I picked it up and inhaled deeply into the comfortable fabric, as if it was Shu himself. Then I realized how weird I was being and quickly threw it aside, slipping my usual clothes on.

I grabbed my launcher and bey and started running towards the WBBA Building. I checked my watch. It was seven thirty already. I bit my lip and ran faster. Soon I was joined by a panting red-head giant. I grinned. We weren't late, but Xander and I lived high up in the hills, and every morning we would run down to the city towards our schools, as well as beyblade training. There was a train we could've caught, but we ran anyways.

'So, up against Lui today?' he panted as we ran past his school, on the outskirts of the city. I cursed the WBBA Building for being at the opposite end of the town, right at the beach. I was going to do a Valt and be late for my match today.

'Yeah...' I trailed off, still running, not stopping to admire the view. 'So? I'm still going to beat him. But you're up against Valt, aren't you?'

He nodded as we ran past Beigoma. 'I've been training super hard for this.'

'With Quon, I presume?' I asked, wind whipping my hair viciously as we ran along the river. 'I hear he's coming back to the dojo.'

'Yeah. I just wish you would too,' sighed Xander. 'It's not fun anymore...nobody hardly ever beats me.'

I laughed. 'So you admit I'm better than you, huh?'

'Hey! I didn't say that!'

We laughed and chatted, making the run less hard all the way to the WBBA Building. The beach wind tousled our hair, the sun already high in the sky, beating down on us. We panted as we finally reached the building. We stood in front of the foyer and grinned at each other.

'Nice chatting, (y/n),' grinned Xander. 'I miss you being at the dojo.'

'Definitely,' I agreed. 'I miss being there too.'

'Well, bye for now, (y/n),' said Xander, lifting a hand as he walked off towards his group. 'Good luck.'

'Right back at ya!' I yelled happily. I turned towards a door, that said Bladers come this way. I happily skipped all the way reaching the blue waiting room, where Florence was tapping her pen on her clipboard anxiously.

'Oh good, you're here!' Florence cried out, ushering me into the room, furiously ticking off and writing on her clipboard. 'Only fifteen minutes until you're on! Oh, and someone wants to see you!'

That's odd, I thought, walking past Florence and towards the room. Who would want to see me? It better not be Mei again....

I was about to turn and enter the room when a flurry of red, pink, white and black crashed into me, arms wrapping strongly around my back. I glanced up, smiling at who it was, and suddenly my world was narrowed into the five centimeter gap between our cheeks.

'Win this,' he whispered. 'For you and for me.'

'For both of us,' I breathed back. 'I promise.'

We held our gaze for one magical moment, before the spell was broken.

'Your time's up!' Florence declared, walking towards us. 'No more distracting her!'

He nodded and let go of his firm grip, and walked away, calmly going back to the arena. I smiled determinedly, ready to beat up Lui's ass.

'(y/n),' Florence said. 'Three minutes until you're up there. Please come with me.'

Three minutes? I thought. Was it that long I was with him? How could time past so quickly?

Before I knew it, Florence had left my side, leaving me alone, waiting, in the dark tunnel for the spotlight. I could here wild cheers and roars for Lui, who had already taken the stage.

'And now, ready for revenge from past three nationals! It's the Bey Empress, (y/n) (l/n)!'

I walked out confidently and determinedly, clearing away the smoke. I was briefly aware of the announcements about me and all the cheers and claps. I could see the cameras and spotlights and flashes, but at the same time I couldn't. I was dimly aware of my surroundings. I was only focused on one thing today. And that was beating Lui.

We walked towards each other, both not saying a word, complete silence falling upon us. I stared directly into his eyes and he glared back, both of us not wanting to break eye contact first.

'So. We meet again (y/n) (l/n),' Lui spoke up, coldly and boldly. I clenched my fists.

'Don't sound too disappointed,' I said icily back.

'Oh I'm not,' grinned Lui wickedly. 'It will be even more fun to crush that bey of yours. Again.'

'Why don't you go play in traffic,' I retorted back.

'And why don't you slip into something more comfortable...like a coma,' sneered Lui.

'Stop trying to be a smart ass,' I sniped. 'You're just an ass.'

'Calling you an idiot would be an insult to all the other stupid people.'

'Um...so can we start the match?' the referee said. We both nodded before staring, no, glaring at each other.

'First battle! Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1! Let it rip!'

This time I held back on Soaring Boost. It was only for times in need. Xcalius spun around in circles in the inner rim, while Luinor circled above the outer rim. The movements...I thought. It's going to be Lost Spiral!

'Luinor!' yelled Lui, activating his aura at once. 'Lost Spiral!'

Luinor moved in its unusual way, picking up speed and charging towards Xcalius. I didn't have time to activate my aura. Xcalius was knocked out of the stadium.

'One point with a ring-out finish! One-to-nil Lui's way!'

'What?' stomped Lui, with a hint of shock in his voice. 'It wasn't burst finish?'

I glared silently at him when I retrieve Xcalius. Clink. I looked in shock that Xcalius had bursted in my hand. If that ring out finish had been a second later...Xcalius would've bursted. I stole a look over my shoulder and saw Lui grinning he knew what had happened. I clenched my fists.

'Second battle!'

I knelt down. This wasn't the time to be insulting Lui. I needed to concentrate. If I do Soaring Boost, then my Suspend Launch...it could work. It worked on Ken, bursting him, so I could at least tie things up with Lui. I narrowed my eyes. He was doing Lost Spiral again. But this time Lost Spiral couldn't help him.

'Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1!'

I jumped off from my crouched position, high into the air. My back arched back slightly and my legs went up.

'Let it rip!'

I landed down, my hands and feet slamming onto the cold stadium ground. I stood up, determined and bold. The crowds were disappearing. The referee was gone. Lui was fading. The noises and cheers were now silent. Everything had disappeared. All I was focused on now was Xcalius and beating Lunior. Even Lui had faded slightly.

'Lost Spiral!' came the dim voice from somewhere distance. I grinned before looking over to my side. A white-haired male with blood-red hues was the only person there I could see. I nodded and he nodded back before I turned back to the battle. I knew what I was going to do.

Xcalius was jumping over Lost Spiral, dodging every single attack. But if the match went on like this....Xcalius would be the one to lose first. It was time to make a move.

'It's time for the final movement!' I shouted, lifting one finger in the air, activating my aura. I didn't know if Lui's was activated or not. But it didn't matter. A wild, fierce, determined look glinted in my eye as flames engulfed me. 'Suspend Launch!'

Suspend Launch moved in from behind, suspending, and with the combined power of Soaring Boost...it knocked Luinor out of the stadium. Everything came back into view, the crowds, Lui, the referee, the noises. I smiled in relief at Shu, and as he smiled back, he knew that he was the only person I had seen.

'One point with a ring-out finish for Xcalius! One-all!'
