Let's go, Nationals!
A/N
Ok, in my last chapter I mentioned something about doing a Lui x reader. But now I'm not too sure. I was thinking, something where the main characters was sisters with Lui, but ended up falling in love with Shu, or if they were sisters with Shu instead and ended up falling for Lui. I think I prefer the first option more, as I don't really like like Lui. But tell me what you think! I always like to know what you want me to do!
--------
Your POV
We had stepped off the train and was back in the city. Training camp ended (A/N Because I was lazy) with a few more victories, pranks, an adventure and somebody's secret of heights getting out *coughs* Wakiya.
'So Valt, memorized the speech yet?' I asked the boy, who was currently reading a map upside down. I smiled and gently turned it the right way round.
'Oh, thanks, that's better...and what speech?' Valt asked cluelessly, looking up at me (A/N (y/n) is taller then him and only a bit smaller than Shu). I facepalmed myself. When was Valt ever going to get serious?
'Remember? The Athlete's Pledge? Ring any bells?' I said, looking for any signs of recognition on his face. There were none. But with a loud, 'Oh!', Valt remembered.
'Shit! I forgot!' Valt yelped. I frowned.
'Valt, where did you pick up that language?' Shu said, hearing our conversation. I glanced over at him. We had fallen asleep together on the rooftop, causing the Bey Club to think we went missing. I remember waking up to lots shouts. I giggled guiltily. I had worried my friends, but it was still funny to see their reactions.
'Um...Honcho says it all the time,' Valt said, pointing to the blonde who was shouting at Wakiya. I stormed up to him.
'HONCHO! Stop swearing in front of Valt! We can NOT afford to ruin that sweet, little, clueless, innocent mind of his,' I yelled-whispered into his ear.
'I don't swear! It's that fucking bitch, Wakiya.'
I sighed and walked away. Honcho and Wakiya were like siblings who teased each other daily.
'Do you ever get that we're trying to babysit this whole club?' Shu asked me, smiling at the now squabbling Honcho and Wakiya, clueless Valt and Daigo doing something stupid. (A/N Idk, Daigo isn't usually stupid!).
I nodded. 'All the time, Red Eye.' I gestured to the twins who were peacefully reading a book and navigating through a map. 'I think these two have more sense than Honcho and Wakiya combined.'
'WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT ME???' Honcho and Wakiya both screamed at us.
'Told ya,' I smirked to Shu. He just shook his head at the very messed up Bey Club.
-------------
It was the morning before the Athlete's Pledge, and we were deciding on captain.
'Ok, how about we do a round of elimination here?' I suggested to everyone. They all nodded. 'Let's eliminate Wakiya first.'
Everybody nodded in agreement, except for Wakiya who shrieked.
'You're too...critical,' I explained. 'Please sit down.'
'I think we should vote me out,' Daigo said quietly. 'I cheated.'
'Yes, but that was a mistake,' Valt said gently.
'But still...vote me out.'
We all then nodded grimly.
'Next we should eliminate Honcho,' Valt said, pointing to the guy.
'WHAT? Why me?'
'Because you can get distracted by friends, and you aren't that good anyway. You don't have what it takes to get the team together,' Wakiya said bluntly.
'Well, then I think it should be Valt,' Shu said from behind me.
'Huh? Why so?' Wakiya questioned him.
'Wakiya, you mentioned something about getting the team together, right?' Everyone nodded. 'That got me thinking...Valt is the one who reached out to be friends with Daigo, Wakiya and Honcho after you all lost to him. Valt, and I were friends in the first place, and Valt managed to convince (y/n) to join us. That's why it has to be him.'
There was silence as we all took Shu's words in. Shu was right. If it wasn't for Valt...I would be stuck in the dojo, or worse, with Zac and the Superstars.
'So it's settled! Then captain, get ready to deliver your Athlete's Pledge! Meet us at the park, 4pm sharp!'
----------
I checked my watch. It was 4:10pm. I stared in the distance.
'No sign of him yet,' I sighed. 'Probably late again. We need to work on punctuation. Honcho, you can fix that later. We all know your like his coach.'
'Hey! I battle too!'
I ignored him. It was ten minutes past, wait, eleven now what time we had agreed to meet. The twins had come to the park with me, so they don't know where Valt is. Wakiya got bored after only seven minutes, so he left and took Hoji with him.
'Look, I have better things to do than wait for an inconsistent blader like Valt. I'm leaving. Come on Hoji!' Wakiya stuck his nose up in the air and grabbed Hoji's wrist. Suddenly, a figure with windmill arms crashed into Wakiya.
'I-I made it!' Valt panted, thrusting his hands up in the air with exhausted yet happy energy. I smiled.
'About time, too. You're almost fifteen minutes late. You better not be late for the Pledge tomorrow, anyways, time to practice -'
'BEYBLADE!' Valt cut in front of me. I frowned.
'No, you need to practice your-'
'I know, I know! My ultra flash launch! Let's go Valtryek!' Valt smiled and tapped his pouch (A/N is that what it is?). Valtryek didn't come out. 'I said, let's go, Valtryek! LET'S GO VALTRYEK! Valtryek? VALTRYEK?'
Valt screamed looking for his bey.
'Fuck, where is it?' Valt said, opening his bag. My mouth dropped open. I glared at Honcho and Wakiya who sheepishly smiled. Suddenly, Valt gasped.
'So that's where it must be.' He took off without warning.
'Let's just leave him,' Shu suggested. 'He'll do anything for Valtryek. I can text him the speech.'
We all nodded and parted our ways, the twins following Valt.
------------------
'Next, the magnificent blade that took the world by storm! I give you, the Sword Flames! And their captain is none other than Xander Shakadera!'
I grunted. Figures.
Today was finally the day of the opening ceremony of the team battles. The Bey Club had managed to snag front-row seats. I had saved a spot for Valt next to me, and to my left was Shu, then the twins and Daigo. Honcho and Wakiya were on the right of me.
'Next up, this team has been called a pack of wild animals...introducing the Beasts!'
The doors opened and this time a short boy with a pink Mohawk stepped out. I recognized him as Ben Azuki, from previous tournaments and as Ken's new team leader.
I took my phone out to text Valt.
(y/n): Remember it's the ceremony!
Sent at 12:33pm, read at 12:35pm
Valt: Oh yeah! I'm backstage don't worry. I've just been preoccupied with things. Valtryek went missing! But I found it! Oh look, gotta go! I'm just going to run to that buffet lunch and grab a couple of chips....
(y/n): Wow, always thinking about your stomach...
I wished Valt would take things seriously and hurry up.
Thirteen more teams had been introduced, including the Superstars and Rideout. The Bey Club was next.
'That's fifteen teams so far. Who is the last one? Lemme give you a hint. They're unpredictable as can be! It's the Beigoma Academy Bey Club!'
I groaned and slid down my seat.
'Seriously? Why did Valt have to pick that basic name?'
'And their Captain is, I give you, the wonder boy! Valt Aoi!'
I clapped my hands and cheered wildly, until I was cheering for nothing. I gasped. Valt wasn't there.
'Oh no, late again?' Honcho said, face palming himself.
'Huh?' Hanami gaped. Then he cleared his throat. 'Uh, Valt -'
'And he's in the safe zone!' Valt slide into the stadium. I laughed along with everyone else.
'Leave it to Valt to make a dramatic entrance,' Shu shook his head. But then things went downhill. Valt looked up, and judging from his facial expression, he had only just realized how many people was watching him.
'And here comes the stage fright,' Wakiya groaned. Valt started walking like a wind-up toy to join the other captains. I could tell he was trying to hide it, but it clearly wasn't working. Valt stood next to a random captain and started shaking. Sweat was dripping all over his face and his eyes were huge. I burst out laughing.
'HAHA! Valt, if only you could see your face!' I giggled. Everyone looked at me. 'Oh right. Sorry. I'll take a picture next time.'
The other captains stared at Valt with a mix of disgust and wonder.
'Whoa, dude, need a time out?' Xander chuckled, also laughing.
'Not everyone can handle the stage,' Zac shrugged.
'Anyways, moving on, the blader chosen to address the audience, is none other than Valt Aoi!'
Something told me that Valt had forgotten about the Pledge. Apparently Valtryek had gone missing.
'Don't just stand there, say something!' Xander urged him. Valt slowly nodded and walked like a wind up toy to the microphone, but missed it. He walked back a few paces.
Everyone in the audience tensed up, sensing his nervousness.
'I...I...I...,' Valt gulped. He took a deep breath, the twin's advice. 'I...uh...AHHHH! I FORGOT EVERYTHING!!!!!'
This time I wasn't the only person who laughed. Honcho sank down in his seat.
'My reputation will never recover,' he moaned.
'It's too early to give up,' Shu said, pointing at the stage. Valt had taken Valtryek out. He muttered something to his bey.
'Listen up! I swear on my partner, I promise to fight with all my heart and strength! And I know Valtryek will fight with me!'
There was silence. Then Shu started slowly clapping. I joined in, then the Bey Club. The captains joined, and soon the whole audience was clapping.
Valt chuckled sheepishly as the whole arena exploded.
'Huh, leave it to Valt to switch things up,' Shu remarked. I nodded in agreement. After the whole arena and Bey Club had stopped cheering, we were finding out the first match.
'Okay everybody! Are you excited as I am?' Hanami yelled across the arena. 'The first battle pf the tournament is starting! First up! It's Beigoma Academy Bey Club!'
Our faces were broadcasted up on the giant screen.
'And they're up against Ice Blaze! A team so fierce they all have defense type beys! And their leader is none other than Quon Limon!'
I looked up in shock when I heard that name. I must've missed it during the team announcement, because I was texting Valt. I stared up at the screen, and sure enough there was my old best friend, Quon Limon.
-----------------
A/N Wow I did not expect this chapter to be so long! It's my longest one yet I think!
I'll just remind you of my dilemma^^^^^^^^. Should I do a lui x reader, with Shu as the main characters sister? Or a shu x reader, with lui as the main character's sister. Please comment!
