Before the finals

omg I love this picture! It kinda reminds me of a female Shu, like if he ever had a sister. That would be a good idea...maybe I'll write a future story about that! But for now, continue on with the story. {Oh, and any cover ideas? I seriously want to change the current one}

Valt's POV

Ding! Ding! Ding!

I groaned and rubbed my eyes as the light of a new day started flooding in. I blinked, once or twice, then looked at the alarm clock next to me, still dinging. I raised my heavy hand and hit the dismiss button. It was only 7:56. I could still sleep for four minutes...

When I woke up, forty minutes had passed. Oh well...I don't have school anyways, do I? No, today was a Sunday, the 15th of April. I didn't have anywhere to go to except the National Team Finals...Oh shoot, it's the FINALS TODAY!

My eyes went wide and I immediately jumped out of bed, sticking my hair up and grabbing my bey. I checked the clock on my bedroom. I had about thirty minutes to get ready before I had to be backstage with my team. I chucked on my headband, pulled my socks up and slid into my shoes. I grabbed a beybread, and shoved it in my backpack, slinging it over my shoulder. Without so much of a bye, I left my mum, and ran towards the WBBA building. A huddle of diverse bladers, from a rich, bratty snob to a tomboy girl stood in front of the door. My team. They were complaining about something; or rather someone.

'Why can he just be on time for once?' Wakiya complaining. 'It wouldn't hurt to arrive early.'

'No arguments there,' agreed Daigo.

'Who ya talking 'bout?' I ran up to them excitedly. 'Cause they sound an awful lot like me.'

Everyone face palmed themselves and sweat dropped.

'What? Did I say something wrong?' I asked them.

'Valt, he is you!' (y/n) said, stifling her laughter. 'Gosh, how long does it take to get that somebody is talking about you?'

'Oh...oopsies,' I said sheepishly, rubbing my neck. 'Anyways, we're finally here! The day of the finals! And we're up against Rideout! Isn't this exciting!'

I started bouncing up and down, pointing to the doors. 'C'mon, let's go backstage.'

-----------

We walked down the pale, cold, deserted hallway until we came across a glossy wooden door. Glossy pink hair poked out.

'Are you the Beigoma Academy Bey Club?' she inquired. 'I'm Florence, the assistant for the WBBA Tournament Director. I'll be with you here in the waiting room until your match with Rideout, briefing you on the finals. I know that Hanami announces the rules, but some bladers still don't get it.'

Wakiya shot me a look. 'I think briefing us is a good idea, Florence.'

'Thank you! Sorry, but I need to grab a schedule and a coffee,' she explained, walking past us. 'I'll see you in ten!'

We walked through the door, entering into a plain waiting room with nothing but a few drink bottles, two black couches, another silver-paneled door and a large TV, which was showing us Rideouts' previous matches.

'So, we need to decide who we're going to pick for the roster,' Shu spoke up. (y/n) nodded.

'We know that Giga Gainon is a balance type, so there isn't any disadvantages, nor advantages,' pointed out (y/n). 'And did you see the footage of Swing Counter the other day on Odax? It was brutal. Bursting Odax on the first chance it got. '

Silence overcame us as we took that in. (y/n) was right. Swing Counter really was powerful. Before anybody had a chance to speak up, Florence popped her head in. 'You ready for briefing?'

Your POV

Everyone took a seat on the couches to hear what Florence had to say. Somehow I ended up squished between Shu and Honcho.

'So, this is a five point battle,' Florence explained. 'Each opponent still gets one launch and one chance at....'

I nudged Shu with my knee. 'Do you think he's going to come?' I whispered.

'Not sure,' admitted Shu. 'But he is part of Rideout, isn't he?'

I nodded. 'There's not telling whether he'll come.'

'Will you two dial it down?' Honcho leant over. 'I'm trying to hear what the hot lady is saying.'

'We already know the rules,' I said, still whispering. 'And her name is Florence. Not hot lady. And not to mention, she's like, ten years older than you!'

'Yeah, yeah. Age is just a number. There are no boundaries of love!' Honcho said. 'Now, stop talking and listen!'

I rolled my eyes and turned to face Florence.

'Most likely to go into extended play,' she was saying. 'Oh, look at the time! I need to get you on the stage in five! Of you pop!'

We grabbed all of our launchers and beys, and headed towards the silver door. I pushed it open and a dark hallway with a bright light at the end stood before us. The bright light was most likely the arena. I could hear the crowds chanting. Rideout had already been introduced. I started walking down the crisp, cold hallway with the Bey Club. We stopped at the white line, drawn a meter before the actual door to prevent the crowd of catching a glimpse. Nevertheless, I could still see all the supporters gathered here today. I slipped my hand into Shu's.

'We'll win, won't we?' I gazed up into his scarlet eyes. 'Even if he comes.'

'Even if he comes,' Shu reassured me.

'And now, the other finalist team!'

I squeezed my eyes tight, still holding Shu's hand. I heard hissing all around me, and I knew the smoke had been activated. I could feel the warmness of the light beams, all shining down upon us. I could hear the roar of the crowd, excitements and emotions running high.

'I give you, the Beigoma Academy Bey Club!'

I snapped my eyes opened. I was ready for this battle.

Ahh, another chapter finished! I was going to write up until Lui appears, but my parents made me study for a stupid math test. I can guarantee a longer chapter tomorrow, but it will end when Lui arrives. Still probably won't be long enough though.
