Chapter 6
"No, I just came to tell you that I needed to go. My mom is waiting for me," she replied, turning around with a bright smile, trying to shake off the tension that had built up.
"Have fun, hun!" Jungkook yelled from a distance, prompting Yoongi to bump his arm against him.
"Who do you call hun?" Yoongi shot back, a hint of jealousy creeping into his voice.
The next day, Lilith returned home from school. As she entered the hall, she heard voices coming from the living room. Curiosity piqued, she walked in to find Yoongi sitting with her parents. A frown creased her forehead at the sight.
"Yoongi? The teacher said you were sick. Are you okay?" Lilith asked, concern etching her features as she dropped her bag.
"Yes, I'm much better now. I was a bit bored, so I came here," he replied with a smile.
"Honey? We need to talk. Sit down for a second," her father insisted, his tone serious. Lilith complied, taking her seat slowly and glancing puzzled between her parents.
"What's going on?" she inquired, furrowing her brow as she awaited their response.
"I know we promised you a party this weekend, but your mom and I need to leave town for a couple of days," her father began, noticing her face fall with disappointment.
"But I promise we will have one the week after," he added quickly. Lilith felt sadness wash over her, but since the party wasn't canceled—just postponed—she tried not to dwell on it.
"Where do you have to go?" she asked suddenly, concern creeping into her voice.
"Grandma is having trouble with her bills. She's getting senile, and we need to make sure everything is okay, you know, financially," her mother explained, and Lilith nodded in understanding.
"Okay, I understand. When do you leave?" she pressed.
"We leave on Friday. If you feel alone in this big house, you can stay over with Yoongi. Right?" her father said, turning to Yoongi with a serious expression.
"E-euh, yes, of course," Lilith stammered, her eyes wide with shock as she looked at her father. Why did they trust Yoongi so much? The idea of staying in a house full of young men made her uneasy.
Earlier, Yoongi had spoken with her adoptive parents about the situation, and together they devised a plan. But there was another problem lurking in the background.
A few days passed, and the time for Lilith's parents to leave was finally here.
"Are you going to be alright?" Her mother placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, searching her daughter's face for reassurance. Lilith smiled back, trying to convey confidence.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
"If anything happens, call us immediately or head over to them," her father said, pointing toward Yoongi's house.
As soon as they drove off, Lilith spotted Yoongi approaching. She waited for him at the doorstep, her heart racing with anticipation. When he stopped in front of her, he looked expectant.
"Are you ready?" he asked, and a huge smile spread across Lilith's face. This weekend promised to be so much fun.
"Yes! Let me grab my things." She dashed inside and emerged with a bag filled to the brim with supplies.
Yoongi extended his hand, offering to help carry her bag. As they walked together, an awkward silence settled between them, each feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
