Chapter 5
After a bit of small talk among the neighbors, the seven boys decided it was time to leave. They still had work to do.
Just before heading out, Yoongi paused in front of Lilith, standing a bit too close for her comfort.
"I'll drive you to school tomorrow," he said, his voice low as he leaned in, almost whispering in her ear.
"Why would you do that?" she asked, subtly refusing his offer.
"Your mother asked me to. She's worried you might get hurt again." He pulled back with a playful smirk.
"And she trusts you?" Lilith replied, eyeing him skeptically from head to toe, trying to gauge his sincerity.
"I guess so," he shrugged, then turned to walk away.
With that, they vanished into the house next door.
Weeks went by, and Lilith grew close to the boys. They were all incredibly kind, and she felt a sense of family with them. But one question lingered in her mind, prompting her to visit their house to ask.
"Hi, Lilith. What brings you here?" Jin asked, surprised to see her at this hour.
"Can I ask you guys something?" Lilith replied, her doe eyes looking hopeful.
"Sure, come in." Jin stepped aside to let her enter and led her to the living room, where all the boys were hanging out.
"Well..." she started, gathering her thoughts. "This Saturday is my birthday, and I'd like to throw a party at my house. Would you guys mind joining me?" She glanced at each of them, unsure of their reaction.
Without hesitation, Taehyung chimed in, "Yes, of course!" He was always up for a good time. However, Yoongi looked a bit skeptical.
"And your mom and dad are okay with this?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, why wouldn't they be?" Lilith replied, confused by his concern.
"Will there be other people?" Namjoon added, his curiosity piqued.
"Well, some friends from my class, and Jenny and Lisa, of course." As soon as she mentioned their names, Yoongi's expression changed, his eyes widening in alarm.
"You can't!" he blurted out, shocking everyone in the room.
"Why can't I invite my friends? It's my birthday, and I'm the one in charge of the guest list!" Lilith raised her voice, irritation creeping in.
Yoongi motioned for the other guys to follow him into the kitchen, and they complied.
"We can't let her have that party. Not with so many people around her," he said, his tone serious.
"But how?" Hoseok questioned, genuinely confused. The only one who seemed lost was Jimin, who didn't understand why Lilith couldn't have the party she wanted.
"Can someone explain? I'm not following," Jimin said, looking annoyed and confused as he glanced around at the others.
"Lilith is turning 18 this year," Taehyung started, his voice serious.
"So...?" Jimin replied, still not grasping the significance.
"She was born under a full red moon. And that same red moon will reappear on her 18th birthday," Taehyung continued.
The realization hit Jimin like a ton of bricks as he understood the chaos this could bring. "She will undergo a transformation with all these people around her," he exclaimed, his eyes wide with concern as the others nodded in agreement.
"We can't let this happen. I promised her real parents that I would protect her," Yoongi added, his panic evident.
"Do her adopted parents know? We need to talk to them as soon as possible," Namjoon said, urgency creeping into his tone.
Meanwhile, Lilith felt frustration bubbling up inside her as she sat outside the kitchen door, having been left out of the conversation. She and her mother had plans to go shopping for her birthday, and she couldn't wait any longer. With a determined breath, she stood up and walked to the kitchen door.
She knocked lightly, and in an instant, Jimin opened it, startled to see her so close.
"Lilith? Did you hear anything?" he asked, looking perplexed.
