6. Footsteps and silhouettes

"What the fuck were you thinking? Going in there, all alone?" Jin scolded Jungkook as he sat on the ground, his back was supported by Hobi.

"I just- what if it actually works, Hyung? Dad can recover soon, let me do it." Jungkook shook his head while his breathing was not in control as he attempted to stand up but Jimin pushed him back.

"Are you out of your mind? Get your shit together, Jk. What are you talking about?" Jimin's voice was loud as it echoed in the forest.

"Y'all need to calm down, let's go home first, it's about to rain and the wind is too strong, it's dangerous here." Yoongi spoke up, holding Jimin's forearm as he stopped him.

Jin groaned, "He's right. Let's get back." he then helped Jungkook up and they started to head back to the house.

After they were finally inside, Jin took a breath of relief. "What was all that about, Jk?" He asked him, this time, his voice was gentle.

Jungkook sighed, resting his head on his hands as he sat down on the couch in the living room. The others sat down too.

"Do you realise how dangerous that was?" Hobi asked with a stern face.

"Hyung, I told you not to tell anyone." Jungkook looked up, his eyes looked tired.

"It's good that I told everyone, what if something bad happened to you?" Hobi's face showed that he was angry.

"How did you find me?" Jungkook asked, now feeling like himself again.

"Hobi sensed that something was wrong this morning and he told everyone that you were here alone." Jin said, everyone nodding at his words. "If we didn't have university holidays, you couldn't have escaped from us." he added.

"When we got here and couldn't find you anywhere, do you know how frightened everyone was?" Hobi said again, making Jungkook feel guilty.

"I'm sorry..." Jungkook mumbled.

"We were searching for you everywhere. If it wasn't for Jimin who wanted to take a piss and went near the lake, you wouldn't be here right now." Yoongi said after staying silent for so long.

Jungkook glanced at Jimin who didn't look so interested in the discussion. He rolled his eyes at Jimin without anyone noticing.

The atmosphere outside was taking a worse turn now. They could hear the windows of the house creaking because of the strong wind. The mist was starting to form as the temperature had dropped seemingly low with time. The trees, they were grown really close to each other and they rustled with each other producing a loud rustling sound. It was now starting to sound scary because of the constant thundering.

"Now, tell us! Why the fuck were you there? And what happened to your finger?" Jin asked, taking Jungkook's hand in his as he inspects the cut on his finger. "Hobi, is there a first aid kit here?"

"There should be one in the kitchen. I'll get it." Hobi stood up and disappeared into the kitchen.

"Hyung, I found a book in the secret library. It was hard to understand but there were little notes and I read it. I found a way to help, cure my dad. Hyung, It is possible, I just-" Jungkook's voice was full of desperation and hope as if this was the only thing keeping him alive.

"What did you say?" Hobi's high pitched voice boomed in the house, echoing back to their ears.

Everyone turned to Hobi who was standing with the first aid kit in his hand, stunned.

"There is a secret library at the end of the hallway and I accidentally... opened the secret door. I was curious so I went inside and found a book." Jungkook said as Hobi quickly came and sat down beside him.

"Are you for real? Where- where is the book now?" He panicked.

"Maybe, in the room." Jungkook pointed towards the direction.

"Jin hyung, you help him with the injury, I'll go, look for the book." Hobi walked away to find the book.

"What is this? Are we dreaming or what?" Yoongi's chuckle was overpowered by a strong thunder sound and the lights suddenly turned off. It was a power cut.

Jin somehow managed to wrap Jungkook's finger in the bandaid properly meanwhile Hobi came back with the book.

"Is this it?" He asked, sitting down as he showed him the book.

"Yeah. There's a chapter about something like medicinal resources. I read it there." Jungkook took the book from him and opened it, searching for that one chapter.

"Here it is." He handed the book back to Hobi, who read it out aloud for everyone to listen. They listened to him attentively but, of course not everyone can believe that whatever written in the book was true.

"This doesn't make sense, Jk. It's like a kid's fairytale book." Yoongi clicked his tongue, openly opposing the book.

"But, the glowing miracles? It was actually there, didn't you guys see it too?" Jungkook asked, not believing him.

"It's not unusual for a dense forest like this to have something like that. Have you ever heard of glowing fungus? Does that ring a bell in your almost rotten brain?" Jimin scoffed as he finished.

"Then why does it only happen in some specific time of the day?" He attacked back.

"Because it needs a specific environment and temperature to produce the light, you, dumbass." Jimin poked his forehead a little harshly that made Jungkook wince in pain.

"Yaah! But the sound really did disappear when it started and the thunder was heard too! How would you elaborate that?" Jungkook stood up, ready to fight Jimin if possible.

Jimin stood up too, but Jungkook towered over him because of the height difference. Jimin didn't feel intimidated though!

"I'm no forest officer or a fuckin' scientist, Kook. But if you have a brain, you should know that there must be a scientific reason behind all that. And bringing back someone from a coma with magic? Are you kidding me?" Jimin looked at him, his eyes piercing through Jungkook's sharp ones.

"Yaah! You two! Calm down and leave this topic. I've had enough already!" Jin pulled both of them apart.

"You're right. And the first thing we should do is get this book back into its place and leave this place once the the weather is calmed down." Hobi suggested and Yoongi agreed with him silently while Jungkook and Jimin avoided eye contact with each other.

"Show us the secret library." Hobi asked Jungkook who took the lead and they all walked down the hallway where the metal door was situated in the dark corner.

Jungkook opened the door, without hesitation; for why this was his second time going in there.

Same as before, the dust flew around everywhere but they ignored it and went ahead. Jungkook led them further inside, in the second room which was the library.

"Oh man! Holy shit! This is huge." Jimin muttered when they finally saw the large space hidden behind the walls of the house.

"Why would grandpa keep this hidden?" Hobi wondered aloud.

"Isn't it obvious? After that crazy thing you read in that book, it was better off hidden forever in this place." Yoongi only ever spoke facts.

"Let's just put it back and get outta here." Jin started walking forward.

"The book was in the first aisle." Jungkook said and they turned to the first aisle.

Hobi gave him the book and he carefully put it back.

"Isn't there a strange smell here?" Jimin grimaced.

"It's maybe the old papers and rusty metal." Hobi answered.

"No, not that. There's something else." Jimin sniffed, trying to figure it out.

"That's not the main point here, Jimin. Stop thinking about it and let's just go." Jin said and they all proceeded to exit that dark and humid place.

"Close the door properly." Hobi reminded Jungkook who was the last one to get out.

He closed it properly, rechecking it for assurance and they got back in the living room.

"Take some rest. We will need to head back as soon as the weather is back to normal. Recharge yourselves." Yoongi suggested, plopping down on the living room sofa.

"I don't wanna sleep in that room anymore, lemme huddle up beside you, Suga hyung." Jungkook said that made yoongi groan but he let Jungkook have his way without complaining.

"Let's just crash here tonight." Jimin also sat down on the couch while Jin and Hobi found their place in the sofa chairs.

It had started to rain now. The wind whooshed by the trees, often breaking the old, frail branches from the trees as they fell down, breaking into pieces.

The forest was covered in mist and the soil was moist, the sound of rain hitting the tree leaves resonated in the woods.

Footsteps! Loud and speedy Footsteps could be heard when the person ran on the wet ground. The water splashing everytime his feet made contact with the muddy puddles.

The rain was pouring down on earth like a waterfall, without any mercy.

Namjoon quickly made his way inside their hideout, where Taehyung was supposed to be right now. As soon as the weather worsened, Namjoon went out to look for Taehyung in the woods. As Taehyung had said, Namjoon knew where to find him when the emergency arrived.

"Taehyung! Why is the weather so bad? What are you doing?" Namjoon panted for air, his shirt was totally drenched and his expressions were panicked.

Taehyung's face was stoic, hands behind his back, eyes glimmering more than ever.

"Taehyung?" Namjoon rushed forward.

"I need to go there." Taehyung gulped, eyes barely focusing on Namjoon. His gaze was fixed outside.

"Did you sense something? You need to calm down, Tae. You are going to flood the whole forest." Namjoon tried to touch him but Taehyung refused his touch.

"We are going outside." Taehyung said, his voice rough.

"It's dangerous-" Namjoon cut himself off when he saw Taehyung's eyes shift towards him.

Namjoon had no choice but to do as he said.

Hobi was woken up by a strange itchiness in his throat. He left the living room, silently entering the kitchen to drink some water.

His eyes were half closed, indicating that he was still sleepy. He poured himself a glass of water and silently gulped it down.

He felt more awake now. He could hear the rain still pouring heavily. He decided to take a look outside as he walked to the window of the kitchen.

"When is this gonna stop?!" He thoght to himself, sighing and was about to turn around but he heard some rustling sounds coming from outside the window.

"Who is it?" he whispered under his breath, putting his hand on the window as he tried to see through the mist and rain.

He could see a silhouette of a person, walking into the forest, towards the lake. His heart skipped a beat at the thought of any worst case scenario.

He squinted his eyes, trying to take a better look at the person. His eyes went wide when he realised that the silhouette looked so much like Jungkook.

"Why the fuck is he outside?" he cursed, quickly opening the window and jumped outside. Luckily, he had Jin's pink slippers on.
