37. For the first time

The stinking meat accidentally touched his nose, instantly giving him nausea.

"God damn it, can't you guys see that I hate this?" he was really on the verge of exploding with rage and frustration.

"It's okay, Jungkook-ah, you'll like it eventually, hm?" Jin didn't leave his arm, keeping his foot stuck in between Jungkook's to keep him from moving around.

They were really going to take it this far? This was a serious problem.

"Just one bite, Kook." Jimin's smile was even sweeter than normal and that absolutely pissed him off.

"Let me go," at this point, no one was listening to him.

His father stayed seated on the table, not moving an inch while he was practically screaming for help. Well, he wasn't exactly expecting him to help him either!

He kept resisting but with three, if not four, grown ups pushing him down, he was close to helpless. And it happened!

Jimin grabbed his face, and he wasn't being nowhere near gentle, basically forcing the piece of terror inside his mouth.

"Chew it well like a good kid-"

The horror in Jungkook's eyes was pitiful, and it rolled down his cheeks in form of tears. What had happened to his friends?

Even if they couldn't possibly force him to chew the thing, his taste buds weren't dead. He could feel the horrible taste on his tongue, the texture of it grazing with the walls of his mouth as little bits of its ghastly juice travelled in his throat.

It was too much! As soon as they let him go, he had no other choice but to throw it all up, coughing and panting for fresh air but his insides still churned with disgust.

"Hey, that's not fair.. you didn't eat it!"

"Fuck-" as soon as Jungkook saw Jimin pouting as if he was offended while he stepped back to take another piece from the tray, he panicked.

In his panicked state, he got up and made a run for the main door. He rattled the doorknob violently, trying to get out of there as soon as possible but it just wouldn't budge.

"Don't be stubborn," Jimin stepped towards him, the red liquid dribbling down his hand, trailing down his forearm.

No, no, no! No matter what, he would never take that filthy piece of meat in his mouth ever again. The nasty, iron-like taste still lingered in his mouth, making him want to throw up once more. However, there was no time for that. He had to run away.

"Shit, I don't feel good. What else did you put in it?" Jungkook desperately tried to keep a safe distance between him and the others, slowly walking along the wall, away from them.

"What else? Just blood and some nuts to make it tasty."

"What?? Tasty, my ass!" he was panicking even more now. He didn't know which nuts they put in there and he didn't really swallow much of it, but his throat was starting to burn. He had an allergy of nuts.

He shook his head, eyes closing and opening a couple of times, trying to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling in his throat.

"It's not too much, Kook, your allergy is not that serious, is it?" Yoongi said, coolly sitting on the chair.

"Even so! How could you?" he paused, struggling to take a deep breath, "how could you do this to me?"

It was proven! They couldn't be his friends. Illusion or not, his friends would never do something this insensitive.

He couldn't stay there any longer, so he ran with all his might. The only way he could go was inside the mansion. He ran through the huge hallway, looking for an open room. Most of them seemed to be locked but fortunately, one of them opened and he quickly entered in, locking it behind him.

The room was pitch black and he didn't know if he wanted to walk around recklessly without knowing the place properly.

"Jungkook-ah!" a loud bang on the door made him flinch as he was leaning too close to it.

There was no way he was going to open the door. But then, what now?

He would be lying if he said that his brain didn't repeat what Taehyung told him before. He wasn't going to be lenient on him anymore and it seemed to be true.

But he would also be lying he said that he wasn't missing Taehyung in a situation like this. How nice it would be if he could just crawl back in time and fall back asleep on the same bed as him while his familiar scent made him feel at ease.

"Open up!!" another series of banging on the door brought him back to reality.

He felt like crying his eyes out, but he won't!

"I won't!!" he screamed back, determined.

"Hey, it's too dark in there, aren't you scared? Come out now," it was Jin's voice. It used to sound much more gentle but this time, it made him scared.

"No, I won't-"

"Then turn on the lights, Jk, the switchboard is right next to the door." Hobi said casually.

At first, Jungkook didn't want to, but he really was getting scared of it now. Usually, our eyes tend to get used to the darkness after a while, but he still couldn't see anything around him. So, he reached his hand out to feel the wall, searching for the switch.

He gulped at the feeling of suspense crawling on his skin as he slowly looked for the switchboard. When he finally found it and switched the lights on, it blinded his eyes for a second or two.

Once his eyes adjusted to the sudden bright light, he slowly opened them. He mentally made a decision not to turn around but the curiosity still got the best of him.

As he turned around, his eyes fell on something sinister, somthing that almost instantly broke him internally. He knew that the possibility of it being true was very low but was he sure? The answer would be no.

His heart was racing, breaths were starting to quicken as his hands trembled looking at the corpse of his friends and family. They were all lying on different objects, such as a bloody stretcher, a bed that was old and moldy, a wooden plank that supported someone's back as their lifeless body swayed with wind, on the verge of falling on the floor.

What? A wooden plank in the room? He wasn't sure if he was really looking at those things or his brain was tricking him.

But, one thing was for sure, his heart wasn't ready to see all of that. He could feel something bubbling up in his chest. Was it a cough? A miserable sob?

He felt his chest tighten, eyes red and on the verge of tearing up, breaths shallow and quick as he gasped for air through his mouth. Can you imagine seeing a very realistic image of your loved one on deathbed? You wouldn't want to!

It was horrible. If he could, he'd take his heart out and clutch it tightly in his own hands if that could lessen some of the pain he was experiencing at that moment.

"No, no... it's... not true- it can't be!!" he whispered to himself, legs giving up on him as he tumbled down on the floor.

"Ack-" a sudden stinging pain jolted through his chest, travelling up to his throat. It was getting unbearable.

"Let me out- let me out..." he tried his best to stand up again and open the door, attempting not to look back at the devastating sight. Even his voice sounded unfamiliar to his ears.

The door just wouldn't budge. Again? He felt himself panicking and the pain in his chest was only worsening with each passing second.

His hand kept trying to open the door while he slid down on the floor, eyes getting blurry and he could see little dots dancing in his vision. He was going to pass out at this rate. He didn't know what he was doing anymore.

He let his body go limp, giving in to the pain.

"Sweetheart?" for the first time, Taehyung felt very... human, as he held his sweetheart in his arms. For the first time, his voice shook with pain.

"Hyung," he turned his head back to look at Namjoon, his eyes dull, "why is he not opening his eyes? It has already been quite a while." he then turned back to look at Jungkook, who was lying limp on his lap.

He held him close to his chest, trying to embrace every single bit of him with the utmost tenderness he could muster. His hands trembled, scared that he might hurt him unknowingly as he looked at him with worried eyes.

For Taehyung to be worried sick, to the point that the shine of his eyes had disappeared and his hands shook with fear, uncertainty of the future, it was an extremely rare sight.

Namjoon swallowed through his dry throat, looking at his brother's miserable state. It was his first time to witness something like this too. How was he supposed to react? What should he do? How could he fix it? The questions ran through his mind, piercing his heart everytime he couldn't find the answers.

"I am- I feel like my chest is going to rip apart anytime soon." a lone tear found its way out of Taehyung's eyes as he clenched them close, "my sweetheart!" he muttered over and over until his cheeks were stained with countless tears.

"Taehyung-" Namjoon had to do something. This wasn't going to end very well. Once Taehyung realised that he was crying, it wouldn't take long for the grief to turn into rage.

"This was not the plan! This was not supposed to happen, hyung. What happened? Who did this?! Who dared to?" the light inside his eyes was back, but Namjoon wasn't happy about this one. It was a sign that he was extremely upset.

"I think I am aware who it must be-"

"Bring him in front of me right this instance!" if voice could kill, this one would be it.

"Taehyung, I think it should still take some more time for the medicine to start working, we should wait-"

"Why has it come to this point in the first place? What was his fault? What did he do?" Taehyung turned back to Jungkook, hugging him even closer, "what did my sweetheart do? He is not moving at all, hyung. What must I do to wake him up sooner?"

Namjoon's heart pained listening to his words. Now, he had no other choice but to bring the culprit in front of Taehyung no matter who it was!

The sky rumbled, dark, gloomy clouds gathered above the vampires' mansion. It was soon going to rain and it wouldn't be any normal rain shower.

Because Taehyung was in pain. His heart, which had forgotten how to beat for decades, was aching. His eyes were in pain, not being able to look at Jungkook who neither spoke a word nor reacted to his voice.

The cold palm of his hands yearned to feel Jungkook's warmth, his ears yearned to listen to his voice, complaining him about just anything trivial.

How could the forest tolerate it? The ground shook, the small cracks getting filled up with rain drops that hit the ground angrily.

"It is all because I have been too lenient on that ungrateful piece of rubbish. Have I made him learn his lesson beforehand, have I never been kind to the likes of him-"

Taehyung's hands shook again, but this time, with anger. He needed to put an end to all of this. He could no longer cherish someone who dared to hurt his love. He could no longer be any kinder to a betrayer.
