Chapter Twelve
Ellie's POV
It was 2:15 in the afternoon, and I was carrying all of my bags to the front door. I was so excited to go to Xander's cabin, especially with all of my friends! I could hardly wait.
A few moments later the doorbell rang, and I found Caroline and Josh waiting impatiently holding all of their bags. Caroline only had three, which was surprising, as normally she would try to bring ten.
Josh had one duffel bag and another small bag slung over his shoulder. Caroline always being paranoid-- which I can hardly understand why-- walked up, me and asked if I was checking out her boyfriend.
"Sorry Caroline, but I already have a boyfriend of my own!" I replied, smirking.
"Wait you and Xander are a thing?" Josh asked leaning on the door frame.
"Yes we are!" I said blushing.
"Awwww you guys make such a cute couple!" Caroline said, while squeezing the life force out of me.
"Caroline. . . let. . . me go!" I said in between breaths. She had a really strong grip. Must be a vampire thing.
"Yeah, seriously Caroline, let her go so she can invite me inside because my arms are getting tired."
"Sorry, darling," she said in her fake English accent. "And Josh what do you mean your arms are tired? Your arms don't get tired." Josh only rolled his eyes and shrugged, still holding the bags.
"Xander should be here any minute, so we shouldn't have to wait long," I stated walking off with Caroline.
"Ahem!" Josh grunted from the door frame.
"What?" I asked, turning around.
"Oh, sorry babe! Umm Ellie you're going to have to invite him in." She said motioning to Josh.
"Why, he is perfectly capable of walking through a door frame on his own!" I argued back and Caroline gave me the 'seriously' look. "Ohhhhhh," I realized. "Why didn't you just tell me he's a vampire?"
"I'm sorry, I totally forgot!" She said laughing.
"It's fine. So, Josh, you want to come in, huh?" I said, giving him a grin.
"Yeah," he said watching me intently, eager to come inside.
"Well, I'm sorry, but you can't," I frowned, and tried my best not to laugh.
"What? Why? How come Caroline can come in then?" He said in a whiny voice.
"Because Caroline is my friend and you are annoying!" I said starting to laugh.
Caroline started to laugh as well when Josh started punching the force that bound him to the outside.
"Alright, alright. You can come in!" I said not wanting him to make anymore noise. He ran inside using his vampire speed and headed for the kitchen. Great now he is going to eat all of our food.
"ELLLLIIIIIEEEE!!!!"
"Wait Skyler please don–"
Oof
Skyler ran through the door and nearly jumped onto me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders, and still squealing.
Aden came in behind her, holding their four bags. Whelp, guess he's not a vampire. So that meant there were 3 humans going and 3 vampires, the perfect balance.
After Skyler finally got off of me, I grabbed everyone's bags, and put them by the front door next to my own.
"Ok, everyone listen up! All of you get water bottles and small snacks for the trip. Everything is in the kitchen on the counter. Oh, and don't forget to take a wazz before you leave!"
"Really Elizabeth? In what context are you using the word 'wazz'?" I rolled my eyes at my dad who entered the living room where we all stood.
"I just wanted to wish you all a good trip. And don't do anything too naughty or–"
"OKAY, DAD THANKS!" I yelled quickly shoving him away from all of my friends. He laughed slightly and retreated to his room. I'm just glad Xander wasn't here to witness that.
"Why Ellie? Are you planning on–"
"Caroline!" I cut her off earning laughs from Josh and herself. "And no, I'm not planning on anything!"
Remembering what we were all doing previously, I motioned for everyone to get going. Within ten minutes everyone was ready and at exactly 3:00 o'clock Xander arrived in a large black jeep. We all ran outside with our luggage in hand.
Xander using his super strength was able to carry almost everyone's at once and put it in the trunk. We all hopped in the car, and eagerly awaited for Xander to start the vehicle.
Xander and Josh sat in the front. I only allowed Josh to sit there because I figured the guys needed some vampire bonding time. Caroline and I sat in the middle and then Skyker and Aden got stuck in the very back.
It was about a three to four hour drive, so we would be in the car for some time. We ended up stopping at McDonalds. Xander bought me a McFlurry and a box of fries. So delicious!
We listened to a lot of music on the way. Eventually Skyler and I both fell asleep. Skyler fell asleep in Aedan's arms. Too bad I couldn't fall asleep in Xander's because he was driving.
I woke up to the crunching of gravel under the car and realized we were in a small forest. Xander looked over at me and smiled. I couldn't help but smile as well. We finally had a time off from school and I'm glad we are spending it together. In a few moments we were out of the forest and we could see the beach from the car.
"Wow this place looks amazing!" I blurted out not realizing Skyler was still sleeping.
"Shhhhhh!" Aden warned. I made a sorry face, realizing Skyler was still sleeping.
After a few more minutes of driving along the edge of the forest we arrived at a set of beautiful large cabins. They looked huge, but still cozy.
Xander parked the car and turned off the engine. Aden woke Skyler to tell her we had arrived, and she was just as amazed as the rest of us.
"Alright the cabin on the left is the one we will be staying in. The other is not in use now but it's our close family friends, so if we run out of toilet paper or something we can just check there. The key is under the rock in the flower pot. Now let's get our bags and head inside."
Xander took a key from his jean pocket and lifted it to the lock. He finished opening the door and going to the back of the car to unload. Us girls let all the boys do the work while we decided to tour the cabin.
It had three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a pullout couch. The kitchen was really nice and it had a table for six, perfect since we were only six people. The living room was a decent size with two couches, a chair, coffee table, and a huge flat screen TV.
Overall this was the perfect size cabin for all of us, but how are we gonna share rooms? As if reading my thoughts, which he probably was, Xander walked in right on cue. And I thought we made a deal.
"Well, Aden and Skyler can have one room, Josh and Caroline can have another, and you sweetheart, get to share with me." He said with a wide smirk on his face.
Ugh why do you have to always smirk like that. You know I hate it!
"I know," he said, still smirking. "But you love it." Okay, maybe it did love it.
Because it was already past 5:00, the boys decided to make dinner while the we unpacked. As they were cooking we could smell the wonderful aroma coming from the kitchen, but we were warned not to go in. I tried to sneak a peak, but Xander blocked my view from the doorframe.
Once we were finished unpacking we decided to pass the time by watching some TV. A few minutes later the boys came in to tell us dinner was ready. Thank god!
"Wow!" We all gasped at the same time.
It looked amazing! The table was all set with flowers in the middle.
"Well my lovely ladies tonight we are having ribs with a side of Caesar salad and corn on the cob." Xander said really bringing out his accent.
"Are you from England or something?" Skyler asked confused. I guess she'd never really heard him talk. He was quite quiet in school.
"Well im from the U.K.," Xander said pushing my chair in, as I sat down.
Aden pushed Skyler's in as Josh pushed in Caroline's chair. They then sat down themselves and we dug in considering we had been waiting for dinner for an hour and a half.
It tasted extremely good. I noticed Xander didn't have any of that 'sauce' with him, probably because Skyler was here. It was strangely awkward eating together and Skyler was the first to break the silence.
"So Xander where are you from in the U.K.?" She asked curiously.
"Well I was born in Wales, but my family didn't live there for long. We moved to London and we stayed there for about 11 years. After that we moved to Maine and then to Virginia." He said without a problem.
Well I guess he was pretty good at lying. I mean he didn't lie that much he just left out the part of him being a 500 year old vampire that drinks human blood and... where am I going with this? Man I am dating a really old guy!
Of course I didn't say that out loud, but apparently Josh and Caroline were both reading my thoughts because they began to snicker. I glared at them and they stopped.
"You shouldn't be reading my thoughts! But since you are, Josh how old are you?" I asked in my head. He mouthed 128 to me and I nodded. He wasn't nearly as old as Xander, but I still wondered what motivated him to go to school again. He must have still been reading my thoughts because he motioned toward Caroline and she smiled at him. They were so cute together.
After dinner since the boys were the ones who cooked dinner we had to be the ones to clean it up. It wouldn't take us long and in the meantime the boys went to watch football.
I was picking up some plates off the table when someone jumped through the open window window and hit Skyler on the head with a shovel. Caroline whirled around trying to grab the man, but he was too quick and he snapped her neck.
I could see another man in the other room knocking out Xander and Josh leaving only Aden running around in circles, hopping over furniture.
Then the man charged towards me with the shovel. I scrambled backward and slammed my head on the granite counter knocking myself out cold. So much for that shovel.
Unknown POV
"You idiot you weren't supposed to make her faint! You were supposed to make her friends faint!" I screamed at him.
"Don't get smart with me prissy boy! Im only doing this because I owe you a favor."
"Then do it," I spat at the vampire before me.
He made no move towards me, and after a few seconds of silence he walked away scowling. I didn't need some idiot that I'd hired to ruin my plan. Elizabeth would be mine, whether she liked it or not.
