Chapter Ten
Ellie's POV
I had my memories back! Thank goodness! I couldn't bare living without knowing Xander was a hot, strong, sexy vampire. Xander began laughing, and I saw him smirk.
"Xander, I thought we had a deal!" I yelled at him against the wind.
"Oh, so now you remember?!" He chuckled back.
"All right, fine sweetheart," he said aloud so I could clearly hear him.
I sighed and enjoyed the wind in my hair, as we sped down the road. It almost felt like flying. I wonder if Xander had ever tried standing up on his motorcycle. Because he was immortal I guess he could do anything.
Five minutes later we arrived at a small Italian restaurant. It looked so beautiful and quaint with ivy climbing up the sides.
He led me inside as we waited for a waiter to seat us. The waiter didn't even need to ask us anything, he gave Xander a curt nod and lead us to our seats.
Once we sat down I looked at the menu, and had no idea what to get because there was so much to choose from.
"Have you ever been here before, Xander?" I asked him.
"Well, yes, several times actually. It is a restaurant chain my family and I have been coming to for decades." He answered his eyes still locked on the menu.
"Decades, huh? So how old are you exactly?" I asked him curious to actually how old he was.
"I am 523 years old," he said smirking.
I almost chocked on the water I was drinking as he said how old he was. What the hell!
"Wow, I am dating a really old man." I blurted out.
"Oh, so we're dating now?" He said grinning deviously.
"I erm. . . uh. . ."
He took hold of my hand and said, "Good, because I thought we were dating as well."
He smiled, and we went back to reading the menu. We both decided to try the same thing because it looked and sounded delicious. I was surprised to hear Xander hadn't tried everything on the menu yet. As the cuisine in Italy changed, it changed here to match. I thought it was marvelous.
When the waiter came, Xander being such a gentleman, ordered for the both of us.
"Entrambi vorremmo avere il vostro pesce grigliato con carciofi caponata e ciceri e tria," Xander said with a smile on his face.
The waiter wrote down what we wanted and walked off to the kitchen.
"I didn't know you knew Italian!" I said awed.
"I know lots of languages. It's kind of how I've spent my eternity, learning. But there's of things you don't know about me."
"So tell me more," I said, excited to learn about his 500 year long life.
"Well I was born in Wales, then two months after I was born my family moved to London. I lived there with my family for 300 years and my family was actually in league with the royals for a time. But eventually I set out on my own and explored the world for a century. After that, I decided to move back in with my parents, and I have been for the past century or so."
"But you didn't always live in Virginia, did you?" I asked him, still wanting to hear more.
"No, when we first moved here we lived in Main, then Washington, and finally Virginia. We have only been here for a few months." He finished, as I listened in amazement.
"Wow you've been everywhere! I've only been within the United States." I tried not to sound so sad about that, but what could I say my life was boring. That is until Xander came around.
"Well then I guess I will just have to take you places," he said winking with a smirk on his face.
I don't know what it was with him and smirking but he looked hot doing it. I watched Xander waiting to see if he would read my thoughts, but he didn't. He had kept his promise.
The waiter came by with a large tray he put it down to reveal to steaming plates of food.
"They smell amazing!" I said aloud.
"Yeah you do.. I mean they do!" He said chuckling, as I glared at him and made a 'seriously' face.
The waiter set our plates in front of us. I dug in as I saw Xander being handed a cup of sauce.
"What's that?" I asked, putting food onto my fork.
He looked at me like I was stupid, and shoved it over for me to see. It was dark but I still had no idea what it is. I looked up at him still having no idea what it was.
"Can I try it?" I asked him.
He made a funny face and said, "Ellie trust me you don't want to!"
I looked at him still having no idea what it was. Being an idiot, I dipped my finger in before Xander could stop me until a serious but funny look settled upon his face.
He whisper screamed, "Ellie don't," as I put my finger in my mouth.
I probably made the ugliest face you could ever see, as I realized what it was. It was blood. I quickly grabbed my glass of water and drank every last drop. Xander looked at me ready to burst out laughing, but he stopped himself to make a remark.
"I told you not to," he said chuckling.
"Yeah yeah yeah, whatever," I said going back to eating.
Xander poured the liquid, which you could now see was red, on his plate of food. I shivered at the thought of what it tastes like.
"How did you get that anyways?" I asked him now making a serious face. He looked at me and began talking quietly
"This is a vampire owned restaurant," I nodded, as I realized that made sense.
"Umm. . . where do they get the blood from?" I asked letting my face show a small expression of fear.
"Don't worry they don't kill anyone," he said again in a low voice.
We went back to eating and soon it was 9:00. Xander paid the check and told me to wait outside. He came out a moment later, and told me to hop on his motorcycle. Instead of turning onto my street he headed towards the park. He turned of the engine and picked me up. The park was closed so I looked at him with a curious expression.
"Close your eyes," was all he said.
Again I didn't listen, and kept my eyes wide open. All of a sudden Xander jumped into the air and over the closed fence gate. As he landed on the ground, he was about to tell me to open my eyes, when he realized they were already open.
"I told you not to look," he chuckled, as he put me down," you're quite the listener."
I rolled my eyes, and took in the sights around me. The park lights were on and it was beautiful at night. Xander held my hand as we walked down the path, and for once I didn't feel so lonely. We made it to a bench, and sat down. He looked me straight in the eyes, and I could tell he had something to ask me.
"Will you, Ellie Watson, be my girlfriend?" A smiled spread into my face, as I said yes quietly but loud enough for him to hear.
I rested my head on his shoulder, and I felt him stroking through my hair. My eyes became heavy, as I fought to stay awake, but it was too overwhelming and I fell asleep and Xander's arms. At least I knew I was safe.
