Chapter Fourteen
Ellie's POV
I must have fallen asleep because I am pretty sure I don't remember willingly lying on the cold hard ground, or I'd fainted from the blood loss.
Looking up those demonic red eyes set on mine, and I frowned instantly. I saw drool on my arm and wiped it off, disgusted I had been drooling at a time like this.
As I sat up I made sure to glare at Michael, but I couldn't bring myself to when I saw a devious smirk set in place. Why did he seem so happy all of a sudden?
"What are you so smitten about?" I asked, still trying to glare at him.
"Oh nothing, maybe just the fact that your boyfriend is dead."
My eyes widened slightly but stopped. He was lying. Michael was so stupid, he thought he could lie right to my face that a 500 year old vampire could just "die".
"You really are a terrible liar," I said almost laughing. Xander wouldn't die that easily. He was strong and he had courage.
"No, he will come to save me because he is still alive!"
Michael laughed loudly before taking something out of his pocket. It was a phone. Swiping the screen he continued to look at his phone. His smile grew even wider when he held out his phone to show me something.
It was a picture of someone on the floor dead. I couldn't really tell it was Xander, but the body was so mangled I had to look away.
I tried to keep calm, but the seed of doubt wedged it's way deeper into my mind and I found myself truly doubt his being alive. Then the tears came, flooding down my face as I realized I would be stuck here forever with this sociopath.
"Aww princess no need to get upset. I'm still here." He said putting an arm on my shoulder. I shook off his arm and let the tears flow freely from my eyes.
"Princess why are you crying?" he said almost sympathetically.
Without turning to face him I clenched my teeth and glared at the bare wall. I know my yelling had got me into trouble before, but my mouth seemed to move faster than my own mind.
"IM NOT YOUR FUCKING PRIN–"
I was interrupted when a large crash and bang sounded from upstairs. We both looked towards the stairs as a look of worry then anger placed on his face. Xander wasn't dead, and now Michael was afraid!
Grabbing my wrist he painfully tugged me off the floor, making me scream out. "Let me go! Xander I'm down here! Xan–"
Michael wrapped his hand firmly around my mouth and his eyes pierced into mine. I tried to stop him from what he was about to do next, but his grip was too strong.
He looked into my eyes, and I felt like he was peering into my soul. I tried looking away but he pierced his nails into my skin as if to make me look his way. I knew what he was trying to do, but I wouldn't let him. I wouldn't.
I tried kicking him, but I only ended up sprawled on the floor with my arm twisted behind my back.
"Stop!" I screamed with him still holding onto my now bleeding wrist. The cut had reopened from his nails.
He yanked me up causing me to scream again and cupped the sides of my face with his hands. I tried to look away but he was too strong.
"Elizabeth, listen to me and stop squirming!" He said in a now angry tone. I wanted to move. I wanted to run but I couldn't. Not even an inch. My body was bound to his words.
"Elizabeth, when Xander gets here you are going to take a piece of glass from the table and slit your wrist. Got it?" I nodded my head without even realizing. No! I didn't want to do that!
"And you won't stop," he added leaving me to my task. "Unless I say so."
I slowly walked over to the table like someone was controlling me. I tried to make myself stop, but I just kept walking. My limbs moved like they had minds of their own. Why would Michael make me do this? I thought he loved me!?
I saw Xander run down the stairs, and my heart fluttered at the thought of him still being alive. He hadn't died, but now I was the one who would.
I continued walking towards the table when out of the corner of my eye Michael was tackled to the ground by Xander. I couldn't even move my head to look. I took the thick piece of glass in my hand. I could see my reflection in its shard. I looked terrible. There was blood on my face and my hair was mangled.
"Ellie, what are you doing!? Run!" Xander yelled, trying to get my attention. I couldn't do anything, but turn with the piece of glass still in hand.
I placed it on my wrist still as tears filled my eyes, and clouded my vision. I still couldn't stop myself. I drew the piece of glass across my wrist and it stung. I looked down to see blood starting to pool on my arm before trickling of the side. I slashed my wrist again and again and again.
Help me!
Moments passed, and I still couldn't control my own moves. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't make a sound. I looked up once more to see a look of shock and sadness on Xander's face, as he was being pinned down by Michael, and he was forcing him to watch.
Fight Xander! Fight!
"Now you can watch her die," Michael laughed, looking at me.
My eyes became heavy, and I could no longer tell if what was going on were real life or a dream. My hands became numb as my feet collapsed under me.
Before I lost consciousness I saw someone stumble down the staircase covered in blood. His eyes where now red too but I knew it was Josh. I reached out my numb hand as the world went dark.
Josh's POV
I stumbled down the stairs and into a dark room. Xander was in the corner fighting Michael while Ellie lay on the floor in a pool of her own blood. I ran to her asking Xander what to do.
"Just heal her!" He said still trying to fight Michael, throwing punches into his face like lightning.
I quickly bit my wrist and stuck it in Ellie's mouth. Hopefully she would heal quickly. I put my fingers to her neck to check her pulse, which slowly began to beat faster and faster.
I moved her over to the side so she was no longer laying in her own blood. Standing up, I ran to help Xander. I was much younger than Xander, so nowhere near as strong, but I could still fight off Michael no questions asked.
I grabbed Michaels arm while Xander got the other. Using my super strength I pulled ripping his arm clean off. He fell to the floor completely out of breath, gasping in pain.
Before we could get another good blow on him he used his super speed to get away, leaving us to take everything in. His dismembered arm still lay on the floor, oozing blood everywhere.
Xander rushed over to Ellie immediately checking her pulse. He exhaled when he found it.
"She's fine. I healed her."
Xander looked relieved, but his eyes were still the deepest red I have ever seen them, even if I'd only known him for a short time.
He must really care for Ellie. Kind of how I care for Caroline. What happened to her was unforgivable, and that's why I wanted Michael dead, but now we could also spend eternity together.
"I do," he said as his eyes began to fade into a lighter red. "I really care for her."
He picked Ellie up bridal style and carried her up the stairs. Then using our speed we returned home to find Aden, Skyler, and Caroline watching TV.
Xander's POV
I quickly rushed Ellie to our room, careful not to let Aden or Skyler see the blood. I knew Ellie wouldn't want me seeing her in just her undies and bra but she needed to change. It wasn't any different than a bathing suit, right?
I took off her top and picked a light blue long sleeve from her drawer and put that on. I had no idea how girls matched all there clothes so I just put a pair of gray sweatpants on her. Thankfully she was wearing some type of shorts and not some more revealing underwear.
Her hair was a mess so I grabbed her brush from the bathroom and slowly pulled it through her Hershey's colored hair. She began to stir and I didn't know what to tell her when she woke, but at least she was safe.
She had been through so much and it was all because she had a vampire boyfriend. If I hadn't come into her life she would be a normal teenage girl. I hope she still wanted to be in a relationship, but if she didn't, I don't know what I would do with myself. I'm probably the most selfish person alive.
After what seemed like forever, Ellie finally came to and woke up. Well more like rolled over mumbled a few words and rolled back over again. I had no idea what she said but I did hear the word Bacon.
She must be starving! I mean how long was she there? I walked to the kitchen and decided to make her a big breakfast.
Using my fabulous cooking skills I whipped up a stack of pancakes, two eggs, and a plate of bacon. I grabbed a glass and filled it with orange juice. Cooking all of this made me realize how hungry I was as well, but it wasn't for pancakes or even bacon. But right now I needed to focus on Elizabeth. She had been through so much so I wanted to make it special.
I walked out the back door onto the patio and picked some small flowers from the bush and placed them on the tray where all her food was now sitting.
I carried everything to her room, and set it on her nightstand. Nudging her awake, I put a smile on my face.
She rolled over opening her eyes and stared up at the ceiling as if processing what was going on.
"I made you breakfast!" I said handing her the tray stacked with food.
She smiled as her face became an expression of utter joy. She sat up slowly at first, taking in her surroundings. I could tell she was hungry as she ate, eating her food quickly. She probably finished everything in just 7 minutes.
"Are you ok?" I asked her, watching her closely. She seemed a little unsettled at my question.
"I'm. . . I'm fine. I was just really worried I would never see you again."
"Well when I found you my first instinct was to take down Michael. I thought you would run, but then I saw you. . ." I trailed off not not knowing how to put it.
"You slit your wrist. Why did you do that Ellie?" I asked her worried. She started crying.
"I-I don't know. . . I tried to stop myself but I couldn't. . .I. . ." She said through sobs as I pulled her close to me, wrapping my arms around her.
"I'm so sorry, Ellie. I'm so so sorry. But you're safe now. I promise."
Ellie's POV
Xander pulled me close. I was still sobbing and I couldn't bring myself to stop. Everything that had happened hit me like a truck load.
"I'm so sorry, Ellie. I'm so so sorry. But you're safe now. I promise."
I slowly calmed down, and snuggled into his chest. His cold body relaxed me, and I nearly fell asleep to his rhythmic slow heartbeat.
"You know I wasn't the one who healed you though, it was Josh. You should thank him." He said letting me know, as he ran his fingers through my hair.
"I will. Wait a second how did I get dressed!?" I asked, staring right into Xander eyes. His face turned red and I knew what he was going to say. I was unaware Vampires could blush.
"Caroline did it. But would you rather have had me do it?" He said smirking.
"No, Caroline's better anyways," I said now smirking myself.
"Well good because I did it!" He said his smirk becoming even wider.
"Xander!" I said, throwing a pillow at him. I was very embarrassed. Xander threw the pillow aside and leaned towards me. But then Caroline burst through the door.
"So lovebirds are you going to stay in here all day or come and hang out?" She said, almost annoyed, almost.
"Alright, Alright we're coming." Xander said getting up and Caroline skipped off down the hallway.
"Wait Xander. What about Skyler and Aden?" I asked tugging on his sleeve.
"Caroline compelled them to forget everything weird that happened last night and they would think you went to bed early because you felt sick. So act like you feel better ok?" He said pulling me down the hall.
"Ok," I whispered before we walked into the living room. Hopefully today would be a better day.
