Ring, ring ring

Smoke can be seen flying in the dimly lit office room, with faint smell of cigars and aged whiskey the scene unfolding could easily make someone rethink their life choices. Sitting behind the mahogany desk was Gong Yoo, the former clan leader of the Heukbul Clan.

Leaned back on my leather chair, relaxing, eyes travelling towards the walls adorned with past photo frames capturing moments of both power and history. Each picture, the past clan leaders, told a story, and how the current crime lord syndicate came to be.

The phone rang again, breaking the silence, letting out a sigh, I picked up the call "Hello?" my voice came out low and full of power.

"Sir, there's been a problem" A voice could be heard from the other side, a bit younger but still full of authority and also fear. Letting out a sigh and rubbing my temples, I stood up from my chair and started walking towards the elevator. "On my way" I replied back and turning off my phone and stuffing it back in my pocket. There was never a moment of peace in my line of work, it always came with bloodshed and chaos.

As the elevator descended my mind started to race through multiple possibilities. Some rival gang stirring up problems? A betrayal within my ranks? Maybe a business complication? Well whatever it might be, I can handle it, I was given this position for a reason.

The elevator dinged opened to the basement, there stood a person guarding a cell, with other enforcers. They were all spread out around the cell, with one man bound to a chair in the middle of the room, bloodied and bruised.

"Boss" my right hand man greeted me, his tone urgent yet respectful. "Caught this one trying to leak information to the authorities" He said cocking his head to his side towards the bound man.

I approached the bound man, the new information made my blood boil, but kept my calm demeanor. The man looked up, fear evident in his eyes "ple-please I didn't mean to do this....I was forced....I had no other choice" his voice stammered and quivering with fear.

What? Forced?

"Forced?" I finally say, my voice calm. "But you know the rules within the clan. You very well know the consequences of betraying the clan"

The man started sobbing, his body shaking "Yes, I understand the situation. However, my family... they threatened to harm them if I didn't cooperate. My wife and my two young children, they were just born," His body trembled as he cried more and more.

My expression softened slightly. Families always held a special place in my heart. "And now you've put them in a much greater danger" I turned to my second in command "Make sure his family is protected. Relocate them and provide financial support. As for him...." I paused, taking one final look at the pitiful man "You know what to do"

Returning back to my office I poured myself a glass of whiskey, welcoming the burning sensation as it slid down my throat. The weight of responsibilities was always heavy on my shoulders. This was the life I chose, the life that chose me.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, a message. I checked the number to see it was from an unknown number. It was small text.

"We know your SECRET!!! If you don't want us to leak it meet us at the docks tonight"

As I read the text, my eyes narrowed in suspicion. Someone knows my secret? Whoever sent this is playing with fire, and I'm willing to escalate. I finished the whiskey in one gulp, straightened my suit, and carefully concealed my gun at the back of my belt. I'm on my way to the docks to confront the person who has my secrets.

I stopped on my tracks mid way & pondered the message carefully; rushing in without any backup could lead to a dangerous situation. I couldn't afford to disregard the threat, but I also couldn't walk into a trap unprepared.

"We have a situation," I told over the phone. "I just received a text. Someone claims to know our 'secret' and wants to meet at the docks tonight. See if you can track where it came from."

There fell a brief silence, and then his unwavering voice resonated, "Understood. I will initiate a thorough check and assemble a team. No chances."

Giving a little smile "Good. No mistakes"

In just under 30 minutes, I arrived at the docks. Standing at the edge, I felt the refreshing night breeze gently brushing against my hair. The moonlight cast a mesmerizing pale glow over the water, making it seem as if it was sparkling. The crashing waves drowned out the city sounds, creating a peaceful atmosphere. I was confident that my right hand man was fully prepared, scanning the area for any potential trouble.

A sleek, black car soon  approached, cutting off its headlights, submerging us in darkness other than the moon light and the pale flickering lights of the dock. A tall man emerged from the car in a dark suit, and slowly walked up to me, keeping a fair distance. His steps cool, confident and powerful.

"Mr. Yoo" the man greeted, voice smooth with a hint of mischief behind "It's a pleasure to finally meet the renowned clan leader of the Heukbul Clan"

"You have information for me, Correct? Speak."

The man smiled, an almost sinister smile "Straight to point, as i heard. I respect that. We've been watching the Heukbul Clan for some time now. We know about your operations, your business deals, your associates, and more important your vulnerabilities.

I kept my expressions normal, but my mind was racing "And what do you plan to do with this information and what do you want in exchange for this information?"

His smile widened "Well it's simple. A partnership. Your resources and our influence could create can UNSTOPPABLE force. Refuse, and this information maaaayyyy finds its way to  your enemies and the authorities."

I pondered, clicking my jaw slightly. "And who do u work for?"

The man tilted his head slightly "Just say, we're an interested party with mutual goals. Consider this an opportunity, Mr. Yoo"

"And if i refuse?"

The man shrugged. "Deal with the consequences," he said giving a small smile. "The information will go to the authorities and your enemies. But I know you are a man of high caliber and intelligence. I know you will make the right choice."

In a moment of contemplation, I carefully weighed the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed information deal. Given the gravity of the situation, I cannot afford to make hasty decisions. This is undeniably a threat that demands serious consideration. "I'll need time to consider your offer," I expressed calmly and firmly.

"Very well. But don't take too long, Mr. Yoo. Time is a luxury that you might not have."

The man said turning around, waving on his way and back to his car. My mind was already forming a plan. The Heukbul Clan had survived and thrived because of good leadership and skills and strategy, and I wasn't going to let some unknown entity threaten that.

My second in command approached me, his face full of concern "What now, Boss?"

"We find out what we can, and i mean EVERYTHING  about our 'interested' party'. And we prepare for every possible outcome. If they want to play with us, we'll show them just how Heukbul Clan plays"

This is our city. And no one, no matter how powerful they they think they are, they can harm anyone under me.
