I am currently sitting in Onodera Sweet Shop, so far no one has identified me. I reckon that's because I have a beanie covering my head, huge black sunglasses. I'm donning myself in black as of now. You would expect me to say that I feel like a ninja, but to be honest I feel like a social embarrassment. Who in their right minds wears sunglasses inside a building? Leave that alone, it's 8:32 pm and heavily raining outside.
Ah, the things I do for love.
The sweet shop has a very comfortable and cozy vibe. It has about three tables, all with two chairs placed by them. It's very small but something about this shop makes you feel at home. The wonderful scent of Japanese sweets may have a hand in all of that.
The door of the sweet shop opens and the blonde walks in. She is dressed to impress, nothing new. She is greeted by a waitress and the blonde puts down her umbrella.
I stand up, I'm such a gentleman,I know. She takes off her coat and hangs it on the chair. I pull her chair out for her and she finally sits down. It's time to get straight down to business.
"Please excuse me for my tardiness." She says as she pushes a strand of her hair behind her ear. Her sun-kissed hair are in a sleek pony tail. "I finished my shift at the café on time it's just that the rain made it difficult to walk all the way here." She apologised.
I am puzzled. She does not look like, or dress like, her entire income depends on a shift at a coffee shop. "You work at the café?" I ask her.
"Yes, I also attend Fairy Tail College but whatever." She told me.
"That's your only job? I'm sorry I'm just curious." I ask her a stupid question again.
"Yeah, it is." She nods her head. The small logos on her apparel and handbags tells me otherwise. Deciding not to ask her silly and useless questions anymore, I now have a look of seriousness over my face. "Do you have a plan?" I question her something that's actually worth asking.
"Well obviously. I wouldn't drag myself all the way here just to stare at your face cluelessly." She shoots me a poker face. I nod.
"I wouldn't wanna sound cocky, but a few people actually fantasise doing that.' I admit as I proudly lean back on my chair. There's a disgusted look on her face and I instantly straighten my posture with a serious look on my face. "Let's hear it.".
"Would you both like to order something now?" The waitress comes over to our table with a smile.
"Uh I'll have Daifuku please and some amazake." I place my order.
"Oh I'll just have aojiru." She says.
The maître d'hôtel smiles and tells us that it'll take two minutes before walking away. "As you were saying." I ask her proceed on with the idea that she has.
"Firstly, this idea may or may not lead you to get slapped on the face." She warns me.
"I'm all about the risks." I chuckle.
"Okay so listen up. Magnolia is hosting its annual Food Festival tomorrow and we're putting up a stall, which means me, Erza and Natsu will be there. We open our stall around 7:30pm. Me and Natsu will reach there first and I'll try to make sure Erza comes there alone and a bit distracted. Before she can come near the stall you'll have to take her away.
"And I don't mean take her away in a car and drive to some cliché grassy meadow, no. There's a dumpster alley in the festival's ground that no one uses, take her there and tell her all that you have to say. I don't care how posh or opulent you are, the dumpster alley will decide your fate." She reveals her smart plan.
"Shit." I curse. She looks at me curiously and gestures me to tell her. "I've a performance at the Festival. That's one of the reasons I came to Magnolia in the first place." I sigh. I don't live in Magnolia, I live all over Fiore. I hardly ever come to Magnolia because it has the worst memories for me. That's why I wasn't aware of the fact that Erza is here.
"Ugh. What time is your concert?" She asks me as she takes a sip from the green tea the server just placed down.
"Two-thirty pm." I reply.
"You idiot. You'll still have time to catch up with her." The blonde slaps me on the arm.
"Yes, but Erza will most definitely find out that I'm in the festival. She'll keep her guard up." I groan.
"Hmm. You're right." She says as she leans back in her chair and closes her eyes. "Idea!" She chirps. I gesture her to continue. "You tell the crowd that you'd love to stay for the festival but you've a flight to, let's say, Hargeon in ten minutes. Everyone will think that you're leaving and it'll be perfect!" She exclaims.
"You're a genius." I compliment her.
"Nothing I haven't heard before." She smirks. "Any questions?" She asks.
"Yeah, two actually." I scratch the back of my head.
"Go on." She rose her eyebrow.
"Is there anything going on between that Natsu dude and Erza?" I ask. I just have to ask her that.
"NO." She replies almost too quickly.
"Calm down, I was just asking. Jeez someone is defensive." I sneer.
"Whatever. Erza and Natsu are just super close friends. That's all." She states.
"Phew. Ok so the second question is that how did she tell you and Natsu about umm, you know, me and her?" I ask as I clasp my palms together nervously.
"Oh. Well uh, we're really close, just like family, so she had to tell us. I mean we all wondered why she was never in a relationship or why she didn't comment on any of your songs even though all of us fangirled about it. Eventually we decided to play matchmaker on her with a Gray, he's a close friend of ours, and she snapped. Lo and behold we found out the truth and we never did something stupid again." She tells me in a nervous chuckle. I feel queasy and guilty.
"Thank you for your help umm-" All this time and I don't even know her name.
"Lucy, that's my name." She tells me.
"Yes, thank you for your help Lucy- wait!" I immediately halt. She looks taken back. "You're that freshman! You're Lucy Heartfilia that asked me to perform for her birthday or something when we were in high school!" I say a little too loud, earning weird stares from the people around us.
"That'd be me." She chuckles, awkwardly.
"That's why you agreed to help me out didn't you? Because you knew me!" I point out, with a childish grin on my face.
"You're getting way too awkward now." She replies as she laugh. "Anyway, here's my number and you'll be calling me when you're ready to begin the plan alright?" She hands me her phone number.
"Gotcha." I nod.
