together
Shu's POV
There were countless memories.
Countless memories of us back in Japan. Just me and (y/n), dating like any other ordinary couple. It was alright, everything was alright, but that made it perfect. Perfect dates on rooftops, at my apartment, by the beach, everything.
Then we were selected to battle for different teams. The trouble started. Free started dating (y/n), and he crushed me like Lui Shirasagi had. I started drowning in an ocean of stress and pressure to be stronger.
Unknown to me, (y/n) started to drown because of me, too. Except I was the ocean drowning her. I was, am, the cause of her suffering.
Those nights she had spent thinking about me pent up frustration and anger and hurt that the darkness preyed on. I caused those feelings, those feelings that made her victim to the darkness.
And in this clearing, with us two holding each other for warmth, she shouldn't be the one apologizing. I should. And I whispered, "I'm sorry."
I whispered it countless times, like the memories of us back in Japan, like the amounts of nights she had suffered. I continued, "I'm sor-"
"Shu, stop," she breathed, and then she leaned over and gave me a light kiss on the corner of my mouth that certainly did shut me up. "I'm just glad that you're here. I'm glad that we're both together again."
That's right.
It was over, wasn't it? Here we both are, holding hands, intertwined, together. A tender smile emerged and she kissed me again, this time on the nose. She started trailing little kisses down my jawline.
Her kisses were soft, delicate, elegant, like a bird that was hurt but now could fly, fly ever so cautiously. Her kisses were passionate too, and I liked that the most. Each time her lips left my skin, I hungered for more, more of her kisses right on my lips now.
And she paused, her eyes flickering down to my lips, and I think we were finally going to kiss when-
"ADSADSJADSK!"
We both stopped and exchanged curious glances before realizing just what we were doing and turning away, flustered.
"Valt, you just gave away our hiding spot!" that was Cuza's voice. "Way to ruin the moment."
Then there was Silas' sniping one. "And what kind of screech was that?"
"A very inhumane one," Free stepped out of a nearby bush, looking disapprovingly at the rest of his companions. "I apologize to both of you, I did try to stop them. Come on out, they already know you're here."
One by one, Valt, Cuza and Silas emerged. Valt didn't even look ashamed that he was caught. He eyes sparkled, "OTP! OTP! OTP! You can't deny it now! You two were about to kiss, damn I wish you did-"
"You were the one who interrupted them," Silas pointed out.
Valt ignored Silas. "But it was still so cute! So, so, so cute! Ooh, wait until I tell Zac-"
This time it was Valt's turn to get interrupted. Fubuki ran into the clearing, panting. "I have news!"
The look on his face was so urgent, it caused all of us to drop the matter in hand. Good, I don't think my cheeks could've gotten any redder.
"It's about Aiga," Fubuki started to explained. "His dark aura has gotten really bad, and now both him and Ranjiro have gone to Dread Tower?"
I think we were all to focused on (y/n) to realize that Aiga also had been infected by the darkness. Confused mutters were arising about Dread Tower. I, and everyone else had never heard of it. Or so I thought.
"Oh!" (y/n) snapped her fingers. "I know about Dread Tower! I think it's Hyde's home. I got offered by his minion, Evel, to go train there to get better. I was in an emotional state, so I refused and forgot about it, but now that I think about it, Evel did mention that Aiga got invited too. I ripped the invitation, but I think I remember the address!"
"Perfect," Fubuki muttered. "We need to go right now. Aiga will get carried away and his darkness will grow."
"Wait," (y/n) paused. "Do you think all of us should go? Evel did mention that anyone unwelcome to Dread Tower will be treated as a trespasser, so this will need to be a stealthy infiltration mission."
"I agree," Free furrowed his brows. "A team of three should suffice."
"I'm going," Fubuki volunteered. "I know Aiga the best out of everyone here."
(y/n) stepped forward. "I should go too. I have the most information about Dread Tower, and I've had experience with darkness. I also want to kick Hyde's ass."
"Of course," I smiled. "But I also volunteer myself. I've had a lot of experience with the darkness too."
"What about me?" Valt whined. "I wanna go too! I was the one who inspired Aiga!"
"You can come later," I offered. "Don't you need to check up on beyblade with Mr. Akabane now?"
Valt's eyes lit up. "You're right! I need to catch a flight!"
He ran off. Cuza laughed and followed Valt, with an annoyed Silas trailing after them. Then it was just me, (y/n), Fubuki and Free.
Free nodded to all of us. "Be safe."
He walked off. Then (y/n) clasped her hands. "We should go to Dread Tower right away. Shu, you can call your private jet, right?"
a/n they can fly to the other side of the world whenever they want too dsajkdals imagine having that much money
"Yeah, but are you sure?" I asked her. "You only came back this morning."
"I'm sure," she nodded, her fists clenched. "Hyde is going down."
And then determination shone in her eyes, not like the look she had these past weeks but rather like old times. I felt myself relax. The darkness was finally ebbing away.

Your POV
"This feels so exciting!" I laughed as the three of us began to walk to the Dread Tower.
Shu smiled. "Yeah, I know what you mean. It feels like we're in a spy movie or something."
"We're not here to have fun," Fubuki frowned. "We're here to defeat Hyde and save Aiga, that's it. It's not a game."
I frowned too. Fubuki sounded so grown up. He must really be concentrated on the task at hand. "Yeah, but we can have a little fun too, right? Beyblade is supposed to be fun, it's a game."
"Yeah, you're right," he sighed. "Sorry, I was just on edge. Hyde seems so...strong."
Shu nodded in agreement. "Almost nothing is known about him, and I'm pretty sure he knows a lot about each one of us."
"On top of that, he was killer moves," I reflected on what happened last time I battled him.
"Speaking of which, (y/n), did you come up with a counter?"
"You bet! I- oh my gosh!"
The three of us stopped walking instantly.
The jet had dropped us off a few minutes away from Dread Tower, so we had to walk a bit before getting to the actual building. But even a minute away from Dread Tower, I could see the building emerging out of the purple haze of clouds.
It was a complex set of towers and bridges, all built in the same grey stone gothic style. It fit perfectly with the dark atmosphere and the lightning, it was like a lair of Hydes'. And it was massive. So massive, I wondered how long it took to build this. How they even built this.
It was like a castle.
"Wow," Shu murmured, numb with shock.
Fubuki stared. "It's huge."
I charged off suddenly, walking with even more fierceness to the tower. "I'm not going to let this intimidate me. You shouldn't either."
"Of course not," Shu smiled at me as we walked side-by-side. I couldn't help but smile back, warmth seeping in.
"Look, you two are cute and all, but please don't make me third wheel," Fubuki rolled his eyes.
"What are you, Valt?" I scoffed playfully. "Alright, alright. We'll concentrate. Look! I see the entrance!"
A big, rusty gate with gargoyle décor in the same gothic style closed off the citadel. To our luck, it swung open just when I touched it. Must be unused.
"Wait!" Fubuki called out. He pointed up to a corner, where a little device was hidden. "There are cameras. Hyde will know for sure that we're coming."
"Let him know," I drew my shoulders back. "I want him to know that I'm about to snatch my crown back."
As we walked through the citadel, all the imposing structures, confusing hallways and dark architecture should've intimidated me. Instead, it had the opposite affect. I felt confidence, confidence that for the first time in a while wasn't arrogance.
Shu turned sharply, causing me and Fubuki to look at him. "I think I just saw Aiga."
I inhaled sharply. I was so focused on defeating Hyde that I had forgotten that the main goal was to save Aiga. "Let's go."
"Who's there?" he yelled when we approached him. Shu motioned for us to wait before he walked ahead. Aiga gasped in surprise. "It's you, Shu Kurenai!"
Yes, it's Shu Kurenai, one of the strongest bladers in the world, second place at the God Blader's Cup, wielder of the legendary Spriggan, owner of the Raging Bulls and my-
"(y/n), you have a dreamy look on your face," Fubuki interrupted my thoughts. I blushed scarlet. "Shh, Aiga's talking."
"What's a blader like you doing in a creepy place like this?" Aiga questioned.
"I came here to meet you," Shu explained.
Aiga blinked. "Why is that?"
"Listen Aiga," Shu said. "You're pushing Achilles over the edge."
"What did you say?" Aiga asked, then his anger flared in a way that I recognised all too much. "Who made you the expert on how my bey is feeling? Mind your own business!"
Before I came back to Spain, I made a promise to myself to be angry at Aiga less. But I just couldn't help it. That kid just unconsciously pushes my buttons.
"You should be glad Shu's doing such a considerate thing!" I exclaimed angrily, stepping in front of the Spriggan owner.
"Aiga, just stop for a second!" Fubuki yelled also out, running to stand besides Shu.
Aiga's eyes widened in realization. "Fubuki and...(y/n)." His gaze sharpened when he saw me. "What are you two doing here?"
Then I heard a familiar pant. "Aiga, don't leave me behind here! This place is creepy!"
Ranjiro also ran into the scene, standing besides Aiga. He blinked. "Fubuki. Oh, and (y/n)! And you are...Shu Kurenai!"
I forgot that they hadn't met before. Shu smiled, his composure ever so calm even after Aiga yelled at him. "And you're Rantaro's brother."
Ranjiro laughed giddily like some sort of fan-girl. To be honest, I would too. "The name's Ranjiro! Nice to meet you!"
"Listen, Aiga," Fubuki started to explain to the person in front of him. "Both Shu and (y/n) came all the way out here because they got real worried about you after you lost to (y/n)."
"Is that so?" Aiga raised an eyebrow suspiciously. "Do you really believe that, Fubuki? After (y/n) behaved like some sort of monster and taunted me endlessly in front of the whole wide world? I don't buy it."
Weeks ago I would've retaliated and told him that my suffering was much greater. I would've told him that he deserved to be treated like that, and he was the one being a monster to Valt. But now I know better.
I bowed my head slightly, biting my lip. "I wouldn't believe me either, but please. I really am here to help you, Shu too. I regret my actions so much, and I hope you know that I'm so so sorry."
It was completely silent, and I didn't want to look up, I didn't want to see Aiga's expression. As expected, he huffed. "I still don't believe you, so don't expect me to believe a word that you say. But, you don't need to worry about me. Since the last match my resonance with Achilles has grown a lot! And now, I'm more powerful than ever!"
"You are sadly mistaken."
Aiga gaped in shock. Shu pointed to him. "You may not know it, but your resonance is corrupt."
"What do you mean?" Aiga tilted his head, looking like a child that hadn't been taught anything yet.
A sad look crossed Shu's face. "In your urgent quest for power, you've resorted to dominate Achilles against its will."
I wonder if those words were for me too.
"That is totally not true!" Aiga yelled.
"Resonance is the bond you for with your bey," Shu spoke ever so clearly, so powerful. "Does that bond exist for you and Achilles?"
"Well, yeah, of course it does," Aiga said stubbornly. "Achilles and I are one and the same! And I know that because whatever pain Achilles feels, I feel it too!"
I gaped in shock. During my battle with Hyde, I felt agonizing pain just before Xcalius burst and I lost. I know Aiga didn't believe my words, but I was just so compelled to talk. "You're wrong. That is a sign of impending doom. Do you not understand that?"
Aiga's face twitched. "You're the one that doesn't understand anything! It's like I said before, Achilles and I are one! And if you don't believe me, you can talk to Achilles himself! He has plenty to say! But not to a liar like you, (y/n). Shu! Battle me!"
He thrusted the red bey towards Shu, challenging him to a battle. I put a hand on Shu's shoulder and silently urged him to battle Aiga, to free Aiga from the darkness.
We both know first-hand the grip of the darkness, and that is why we need to warn Aiga, no matter how he thinks he doesn't need it. That's why we must succeed and show him that he's wrong.
