darkness
Your POV
The crowds were deafening as I made my way to the top seats, specially reserved for Kris and other important members of BC Sol like me. I could instantly tell that Valt and Aiga were putting on quite a show, the tension was insanely thick and I haven't even watched the battle. I crossed my fingers and hoped Valt would triumph.
"(y/n), excellent timing. We're just finished the second battle, " Kris acknowledge me as I walked into the room. She patted the seat next to her. "Sit here. You feeling better?"
"I guess," I shrugged. "So they're about to start the third battle? What's going on so far?"
"Valt is leading," Kris's eyes shone with pride for her top blader. "He just managed a burst finish, the score is two to one. As you can see, or rather feel, it's getting quite intense."
I peered out of the glass to see Valt hand Aiga Achilles, with the latter snatching it out of his hands with a grunt. My forehead creased as a dark look fell across Aiga's face and he gritted his teeth. A growl emitted from him, and the determination in his eyes was never like before, and I'm not sure it was a good thing.
"Valt!" he suddenly cried out. His aura appeared, but this time great purple tinged the flames. Flecks of what looked like ash rose up from the ground. Bright turquoise orbs stood out from the crowd of darkness. "I've had enough! This is the end for you!"
This feeling of darkness...it was so strange and different, yet it was so familiar. Aiga always had a strong passion, but it was never like this. It was so familiar because it was the same darkness that kept appearing in my dreams.
Aiga's been affected too.
Hanami gasped. "You can feel Aiga's fighting spirit radiating as he stares down the wonder boy! What frightening determination!"
I glanced at Aiga's opponent, wondering how Valt would counterattack the darkness. The bluenette muttered some words down to Valtryek, and the bey glinted brightly back at him.
"Okay!" Hanami's voice echoed throughout the stadium. "This smoking-hot showdown is now entering the third battle! Can Aiga make a comeback, or is Valt walking out victorious today?"
If possible, the tension escalated a whole new level. It was getting harder to breath. Then, dark aura started growing. This time it wasn't me, it was Aiga. I could almost hear the thoughts spinning around in his head, a carbon copy of the ones in mine the other day.
'Whatever it takes, I'm gonna win!"
Free's hunch about Aiga was right. I'm not the only one beginning to turn towards the darkness. But, I'm sure Aiga isn't even aware about what is possessing him.
"It seems that you're getting serious about winning the match," Valt commented. A grim look fell onto his face as he pulled out his launcher. "Well, bring it on. Let's finish this!"
"Third battle!" the referee called out. Aiga and Valt both began with their identical launches. "3 2 1! Let it rip!"
The two beys shot into the stadium, equal in the impressive speed as they dived in for many clashes.
"You're finished!" declared Aiga, his hand lighting up with flames. "Z Whip!"
The scarlet bey knocked in Valtryek fiercely, sending out purple sparks before Valt's bey was knocked high up. Valt let out a gasp and Aiga smiled triumphantly. "It's over!"
Valtryek fell to the floor, the fear of Valtryek falling out keeping me on the edge of my seat. Valt clenched his fist, and his familiar blue-and-yellow aura flickered to life. "Valtryek!"
Said bey glowed with the aura, and hit the edge of the stadium before going back into the ring. I smiled, an action mirrored by Valt. Using the momentum from falling, Valtryek sped up as Valt announced, "Wonder Whip!"
Blue flames danced across Valtryek's blade as it connected with Achilles in a violent manner. Achilles was knocked back, hitting the stadium wall and losing some of its stamina. It circled back to continuously hit the wall, and panic swirled in Aiga's eyes.
Suddenly, darkness fell across Aiga's face so that I couldn't see his eyes. He began muttering something, panicking me and making my heart race with anticipation.
I gaped in horror as the dark aura emerged again, clouding Aiga's whole body. He shouted, "I'm gonna win, and I'll show everyone I'm the best blader in the world after I destroy you, and then (y/n)!"
Is this how I looked like yesterday?
Is this panic and fear how Free and Valt felt?
That Phi...I clenched my fists so hard red marks appeared on my skin. Who does he think he is, infecting everyone with his darkness?
Aiga's hair-tie snapped, and his mane of now pink hair bursted out. The evil purple was beginning to wrap itself around Achilles too, and the black dots burning brightly like embers. Aiga roared, "Achilles!"
My eyes widened in fear as the mighty beast was tinged with purple and darkness too. The look in its eye wasn't itself. Purple light flashed out from the sword being slammed into the ground. Sweat trickled down my forehead, and I was so concentrated on the battle to the point where I couldn't even hear what Hanami said anymore.
"(y/n)?" Kris nudged me gently. "Do you need to go back to the infirmary?"
"Huh?" I blinked. Then I realized how shallow and quick my breathing was. "No, no, I'm fine. I know I am."
I turned back to the battle, mentally back in my seat and not on the battle field against some sword-wielding beast that was being possessed with evil. I closed my eyes in an attempt to calm down.
I'm not even the one battling Aiga, if this is how I feel then how does Valt feel? From this point I could only see the blue spikes of my best friend. Suddenly, I had a feeling that Valt was not safe battling Aiga.
"I'm gonna win this match," Aiga repeated again, a scowl on his face and his fists clenched as the dark aura continued to pour out. "'Cause I'm Achilles!"
"I'm Spryzen! Shu Kurenai as you knew him is gone!"
No, I thought to myself. This can't be happening again. Valt, crush Aiga for me!
Onstage, Valt activated his aura again. Valtryek emerged through the blue light, flashing its sword. Valt yelled out, "Valtryek! Do it! Put an end to this with Wonder Flash Launch!"
I stared in amazement as Valtryek zipped around the stadium, a supernatural blue light illuminating the stage. It was astonishing how fast it moved. It curved upwards and collided with Z Achilles. It looked like darkness against light.
Aiga must be really determined. No, this has nothing to do with determination anymore.
Both beys took to the rails, using the rim to speed up even more. Aiga growled again, and with the dark aura and his hair he looked like a maniac. Then the darkness escalated. His eyes began a bright, burning purple, the same colour streaking his aura until it became a chaos of scarlet, ashes and all different shades of the wicked purple. Aiga roared loudly, and the wind around him began to pick up speed.
Achilles sped off the rail towards Valtryek, looking as if it wasn't here to play.
The scarlet bey, now reaching a deeper red knocked into Valtryek, sending it to the sky once again.
Valt grunted in determination, and his aura increased in size and power. "That's enough, Aiga!"
Valtryek fell down to the stadium, hitting the rim and bouncing back in. Valt punched the air, "Valtryek! Use Wonder Wing Launch! Finish this!"
The two beys met, each of them grinding into the other violently with no plans of holding back. White and purple sparks flew, and wind was being whipped everywhere. Bursts of colour like lightning lit up the whole arena. Everyone grimaced, the wind getting to an extreme point. The two golden swords of Valtryek and Achilles clashed mightily.
I felt my nerves rising, same with the darkness. Please win, Valt.
Aiga screamed, and the two beys were knocked back. For a second I thought the battle was going to be a long one, but then they dipped in again. I could feel the darkness taking over the last piece of goodness in Aiga and Achilles vanishing. Achilles lunged forward, its sword surrounded by the darkness.
All of a sudden, I knew what was going to happen before it did. And I wanted to get Valt out of there.
Achilles slammed into Valtryek with killing intent, and the latter bey bursted in three parts.
No, I thought in fear as I carefully surveyed the area. I stood up subconsciously. Not three parts. Six parts.
Aiga let out a victorious cry, as Valtryek laid broken on the ground. This was worse than any other breaking I had seen before, worse than what Shu or Lui did. This...this was destruction on a whole other level. I slammed the table in anger.
Valt crouched over slightly, taking in what happen. Aiga chuckled smugly on stage, a big smirk adorning his face. The crowd collectively gasped.
Aiga thrusted his hands up into the air with the biggest, smuggest grin, shouting, "Victory! Now everyone in the world that Achilles is the strongest bey ever!"
I began running, out of the room ignoring Kris's cries for me to come back. I just ran faster. I had to get to the stadium.
The referee declared Aiga the winner, but I barely heard that over the cheers and claps of the crowds. Even Ranjiro and most of the others were cheering them on.
That's what triggered me the most. The fact that Aiga did so much damage, yet people still were with him. The fact that Valt's companion laid broken on the floor, yet Aiga either didn't notice or didn't care because he was too blinded by victory. The fact that everyone was cheering even when Valt was suffering. The fact that Aiga didn't even look remorseful for his actions.
What a selfish, power-hungry brat, I thought, and anger started burning in my chest. Get your priorities straight, Aiga Akabane.
When the God Blader's Cup finished, I thought the destroying of beys were over. But Aiga had brought it back. To destroy a blader's partner, a friend, was undoubtedly the worse crime you could commit in the beyblade world. And this time, the damage wasn't even done by the bad guy. It was done by the good guy.
No. Aiga's not the good guy anymore. He's crossed over to the dark side. Willingly. I clenched my fists and sped up. No one should ever have to suffer that pain. I unknowingly let my aura light up, scarlet, orange, white and gold mixing together.
If you destroy beys, I'll destroy you.
I distinctly heard Hanami commentating when I crossed into the stadium. Valt was on his knees, picking up the broken pieces of Valtryek with a somber look on his face.
"See?" the disgustingly smug voice of Aiga taunted Valt over the cheering. He flashed Achilles. "I told you I was gonna win. Now do you believe that me and Achilles are never going to lose?"
Valt seemed defeated, he seemed to have lost that spark of determination and is saddened me to see how hurt he was.
If you hurt my friends, I'll hurt you.
"Of course not," I scoffed, walking up to the stadium to let my presence be known. A scowl was on my face and one hand was on my hip, the other on Valt's shoulder. I surveyed Aiga in revulsion. "So, this is what blading means to you? How disappointingly pitiful."
Aiga growled and stuffed his bey into his pocket. "Stop talking like you're any better. I can sense that there's darkness in you."
"N-No, there isn't any!" I exclaimed, but it seemed like I was trying to convince myself only.
Aiga raised an eyebrow in a mocking manner, "Let's have a battle to settle this."
"Agreed!" I clutched my launcher. "We were going to have a battle anyways, and besides, I've been waiting to crush you."
"Likewise," he smirked. "I'm going to take that championship belt right off you, along with destroying your bey and then Shu Kurenai's and then everyone else!"
I'm pretty sure that is when my dislike to Aiga turned to hate.
Resentment filled me, all directed towards the person standing in front of me. My aura lit up again, my eyes burning brightly as I screamed, "Don't you dare destroy Shu's bey!"
"Seems I struck a nerve," Aiga's smirk grew bigger.
"It seems that unlike you cold monster, I actually have feelings," I attached Xcalius to my launcher, and some of the power from yesterday began flooding me. I wanted to crush Aiga so badly now, it was becoming a wild desire. I grinned as even more of the new power came. There was no way Aiga would stop me now. I don't even have to use Soaring Boost anymore. "Ref, call the next battle. Valt, get back and watch me avenge you. Ref!"
"O-Okay," mumbled the referee as Hanami said something over the speaker. I didn't care if he was labelling me as some beast with anger issues. The real beast who was an issue himself was Aiga. Once I destroyed him, I would be free of that nuisance.
"3 2 1!" Everyone called out. I glared at Aiga, just to see his lips curve upward in a smirk. That set me off. The next thing I knew, purple was surrounding me and Xcalius in the form of the beast appeared behind me, swinging its legendary sword. I felt a burst of extreme power as I pulled the ripcord. "Let it rip!"
My launcher laid on the stadium floor, broken from the overload of hand power. The crowds gasped and muttered, and Hanami started speaking again but I could hardly care less. Xcalius was launched into the stadium along with Aiga, both beys spinning at their top speed.
My grin stretched as the newfound power continued to wash over me. It seemed infinite, and it made me extremely powerful. I don't care if it's dark energy. All I care about is destroying Aiga.
"Xcalius!" I ordered my bey, and without me even saying anything it launched itself onto the outside rim, gaining a ton more speed so that my eyes were barely keeping up. Pride welled up in my chest. It seemed that this aura connected me with my bey even more too.
I chuckled as the scarlet bey entered the main stadium again. It spun even faster, sending the purple fire amuck. Achilles was in the center, spinning hopelessly as Xcalius closed in on its prey. "Now Xcalius, devour it! Final Strike!"
Xcalius the beast roared mightily before uniting with the bey's sword and slashing out onto Achilles. In that moment, I saw Aiga's eyes tremble with true fear. It was like fuel to my fire, and my sword crashed down harder. I closed my eyes, "Yes!"
I heard the sound of a bey bursting, and I opened my eyes to see the sight I knew I was going to see; three pieces of Achilles scattered around the stadium.
I marveled at this power. Why is it labelled as something bad?

i know i'm making y/n hate aiga, (i promise i don't dislike or hate him), but it's not her true self, it's the darkness in case you didn't know
