Chapter 22
Your POV
The two beys, both attacking counter-clockwise, zoomed around the stadium, each one chasing the other.
'Xcalius!' I commanded, authority seeping into my words. Sweat beaded my forehead and dripped down my face. Adrenaline pulsed through my body. My breaths were panting and irregular. But I still went on. This was the final stand, the last line of defense, the last hope. 'You know what to do!'
The golden beyblade, newly evolved, shimmered in agreement. In a split-second, the tables had turned. Xcalius reversed it's rotation to clockwise, prepared to meet a counter-clockwise Spriggan head on. But when fierce red and gold flames erupted around Spriggan and it's owner, I knew that I needed something more. I didn't dare look in the face of Spriggan's owner. It was just too painful, and I knew it was cost me the match. But it was obvious my strength was sapping.
No. This is my last chance to save Shu.
In a final effort, I gathered up every ounce of the strength I still had to activated my aura. Wind whipped my hair like crazy as my own fiery flames swallowed me. I lifted my hand into the air, my fingers outstretched. 'Xcalius! Final Strike!'
I let out a furious cry, and so did Shu, as Xcalius's sword ejected the head out, sticking the pointy part straight out as it charged towards Spriggan. I closed my eyes and I hoped so hard for this victory that my chest was going to burst of extreme emotion.
Crack.
Shu's POV
Crack.
As the bey burst the chains broke and slide off me, no longer casting burns or wounds into my skin. I heard a ghoulish scream from my dark counterpart as my vision began to flicker. The colours were suddenly ten-times brighter, the noises and cheers much more louder. Flashes went off in every direction, as well as these two certain names being thrown out around the crowd, even if I was on the floor. Then I realized.
I was freed.
Your POV
I watched them.
I watched them from the shadows, patiently waiting for the certain person to notice me. After winning a world tournament, you would've thought the victor would've been much more happy. But however, this victor was different. She valued the person she had gained back so much more than a stupid title.
It just felt so weird. Like this was the end of something. Everything was over. But it felt like something else was just beginning. Maybe a fresh new start. After this rollercoaster of emotions that had torn me apart.
But it was okay.
Anything to get him back.
-------------------
Shu's POV
I couldn't help but laugh as the Bey Club attacked me for leaving them. It just felt so good to be me again, in control of my own body and not acting like a psychopath. It felt so much better to be enjoying the sun and the summer breeze again, watching the view of Beyblade City from the balcony, not locked up into fiery chains.
'Shu!' cried the blunette, wrapping his small, tanned arms around my waist. 'You're back!'
'You bet I am,' I smiled, grateful that Valt didn't hate me.
'And it's all thanks to (y/n),' grinned Valt in relief. At the mention of the new world champion, the conversation turned dead.
'Can I have some time alone, please?' I excused myself from the crowd.
(y/n) (l/n)
My ex-girlfriend I had hurt so many times. It wasn't my doing, but it was my fault for giving into the temptation of Spriggan. If there was one person I didn't expect to forgive me, it was her. I knew she was here, in the shadows, leaning onto a pole. She was the first thing I had noticed when I walked outside, just like old times. Always catching my eye. I walked up to the (h/c) haired girl, trying to keep my nerves in control. Her (e/c) hues stayed on me intensely, but never revealed any emotion.
'(y/n).'
All in a flash, she shot to her feet and enveloped me in a bear hug, salty water trickling down her cheeks like a waterfall. Her chest heaved with extreme emotion as her arms wrapped around my head. All this happened in a split-second.
I stood there, in shock, unable to comprehend what was currently happening.
'Shu Kurenai.'
Nothing, it was just my name. She didn't say my name like it was something on the bottom of her shoe, like I had expected. Instead, she said it so casually, so full of love, that it nearly convinced me that it was last summer when we were dating.
'(y/n),' a small smile graced my lips as my arms looped around her body. 'It's been a while.'
In an instant, she detached herself from me. Her face was smudged with snot and saliva, blotched with red stains, but frankly, I didn't care. She looked as beautiful as always.
Maybe not so beautiful when she started punching me.
'Shu. Kurenai.' she repeated my name again, loaded with playful anger as she punched me softly with each word. 'Don't. You. Dare. Leave. Me. Again.'
Then she did the unexpected. She ran up to me again and locked her lips fiercely with mine. The kiss was full of passion and emotion, which made me feel even more relieved. She was acting so light, playful, soft and in love. Her eyes sparkled as if she had found something she had lost a long time ago, something she had almost forgotten about.
'Why?'
'Why what?' grinned (y/n), detaching herself from me again. My lips tingled with an unfamiliar warmness.
'All this,' I gestured to her. 'Why do still like me? I hurt you so badly, so many times. I crushed and destroyed you, Lui's and Norman's beys for power. I turned into a power-hungry psychopath that demolished everything in my way. I refused you, Valt, Xander and so many others. I hurt you, reduced you to tears, question yourself and doubt your place in this world. I know I was under Yami's control, but it is my fault as well. So why? Why are you still accepting me?'
'Shu, I don't care if it was your fault or not,' (y/n) trembled from the overwhelm of emotions. 'Just know that you could break my heart in two, but when it heals, it beats for you.'
Silence.
I could almost hear the crickets. I could hear the group gathering near us, waiting for my reaction. Tears began to flow out of (e/c) orbs.
'I love you (y/n).'
------------------
The sky was an endless blue, pure white birds disrupting the colour. Peaks of brilliantly formed rocks arose from the Grand Canyon in the distance. Laughter and cheers could be heard everywhere, loud music playing in the background. An aroma of delicious smells filled the air.
The perfect day for celebrating.
Everyone from BC Sol to the Bey Club to the Supreme 4 and Big 5 were packed in the beyblade hall, where Ange and Chiharu were catering for our celebration party. Originally, I was supposed to make the pasta, but thanks to my broken arm, Valt had taken over. And that didn't end well. Everyone was mingling just fine, even Lui Shirasagi was talking to Valt. More like Valt annoying Lui. At least Lui hadn't sent Valt to the hospital yet.
I smiled at this cheerful scene and sat down on a red velvet couch overlooking the Beyblade City. The God Blader's Cup was completely over and Ashtem, or Theodore Glass, has been sent to prison (let's just pretend) for experimenting on humans without their consent, as well as for brainwashing me. So what next?
'Hey.'
My eyes flickered towards the owner of the lazy tone who had sat right next to me. Free De La Hoya. The former world champion. Also (y/n)'s ex.
'Hey,' I greeted back. 'What's up?'
'I just...I just wanted to tell you to take care of (y/n),' he sighed, looking away from me and gazing out into the distance mournfully. 'When she first described you to me, I absolutely hated you.'
'Wow,' I remarked sarcastically. 'Gee, thanks.'
'I'm sorry,' responded Free, although he didn't seem very sorry at all. 'You just seemed like the perfect guy, and I was...threatened by you. That was part of the reason I moved to Raging Bulls, to crush you and prove to her that I was superior. But then she broke up with me for you. At the time, I didn't understand, but now...I think I do.' He let out a heavy exhale. 'I know I'm kind of salty, but I guess you and (y/n) really do belong together. I hate to say this, but she changes around you. She becomes much more comfortable and loose around you, playful as heck. She was never like that with me. During the months and weeks you went missing, she turned into this empty person, unable to feel emotions. I feared she was becoming a sociopath. Just like me. But she acts like herself around you, and...I wish you two the best.'
'Thanks,' I truly meant it. 'But we're not dating again. We've already decided.'
'Why?'
'We do still have feelings for each other,' I admitted. I took a deep breath. 'But we both know that our relationship makes us choose each other or our beyblade career. And now that we're the two best bladers in the world...we want to keep that and our beyblade career.'
'I understand,' Free's eyes glinted. 'But...I hope you realize that in the future...the triumph of victory is nothing compared to the feeling of love. (y/n) herself told me that.'
He abruptly stood up and left me, bewildered with the confession he had just given me. I had no idea about that.
'Shu, why do you look so shocked?' laughed (y/n), coming up from behind me. 'This party is for celebrating. But also...' She dropped her voice. 'I need to talk to you.'
-----------------------
'So, what do you plan to do?'
Those words rang out in the valley, the only noise made from humans here. We had ditched the party for the isolated and serene landscape provided by the Grand Canyon. We sat there together, dangling our feet over the edge as the sun slowly began to dip into the horizon.
'To be honest, I have no idea,' I confessed. 'Actually, that's not true. The Raging Bulls do need a new manager. '
'Go for it,' replied (y/n) matter-of-factly, her eyes sparkling with pride. 'But what about your beyblade career?'
Those words took me by surprise. 'I-I-I don't know, actually. I might stop beyblade-'
'Don't you dare,' growled (y/n), playfully grabbing me by the collar. 'Anything but that. You have amazing talent, Shu. Don't waste it.'
'Ok, ok,' I said as she retreated. 'But what about you? You're the world champion!'
'I might...' she hesitated. 'Take a break. Not from beyblade. I'm just tired of all of the tournament stress and everything weighing on my shoulders. I'm tired of all of the drama and stuff. I might just take a break from a world. Go to somewhere remote and isolated, and train endlessly there.'
'But-' I found myself pausing as (y/n) gave me a knowing smile.
'Trust me, our...friendship won't end,' promised (y/n), although the word friendship sounded foreign on her tongue. 'Even though our romance has ended, I trust you a whole lot. I trust you with my life. You'll be the only who knows where I am. You, Xander and Valt will be the only ones with my phone number. You are always welcome to visit me, sometimes train with me as well. Just trust me.'
Golden hour had begun. A golden glow was cast all over the Grand Canyon, illuminating (y/n)'s eyes even more, a crystal clear hue of (e/c). A warm summer breeze swept in and floated through our hair, whipping it to one side. A small smile graced her lips, and suddenly it was like magic. The scene, (y/n), everything. I pinched myself, but I wasn't dreaming at all. She was just completely ethereal.
'Are you sure breaking up is the right decision?' I questioned her. In my heart I knew it was the right choice but...it wasn't the easiest.
'I know, I know,' she smiled sadly, her fingers subconsciously reach into her chest and tracing the necklace symbolizing our relationship. 'I don't want it to end too. But you know...I realize why Free had become so focused on winning. Beyblade isn't a game once you reach the big leagues. It's a battlefield.'
It hurt me that I was the reason why the God Blader's Cup was so dangerous. 'And if we want to survive, we have to concentrate a whole lot more. New, talented bladers are rising up every single day,' I continued. 'We have to be ready. In time...our romance will slowly vanish. But...where will you go?'
'I have a place in mind,' whispered (y/n), gazing out to the Grand Canyon. 'But no place will be too far from you, Red Eye.'
It was nice to hear my other name be said like that, not with hate or demanded like in Snake Pit. But instead, full of whimsical love. Even if that was the last time it was going to be said like that.
'Alright,' I agreed. 'But first, let's go back to Japan.'
-----------------------
Your POV
I hummed to myself, hovering my hands above the warm glass, carefully deciding which pastry to pick. All of them smelt absolutely delicious. No wonder Valt had such an appetite. Screams of laughter could be heard from upstairs, making me smile. Toko and Nika had been utterly proud of Valt for placing third in the God Blader's Cup.
'Sorry,' I apologized to Chiharu, who was patiently waiting for me to order. 'It's just all of these looks so amazing.'
'Tell you what, dear,' laughed Chiharu sheepishly. 'I'll let you pick five pastries for the price of one.'
'Are you sure?' I asked, but my mind was already thinking about which pastries to pick.
'Absolutely,' smiled the baker. 'Besides, I owe you for maturing Valt.'
'No problem,' I returned the smile before picking five pastries. Chiharu placed all five into a brown bag, which I then carried in my arms. 'Thank you for everything!'
Skipping out of the bakery and the Aoi house, I set a course for Beigoma Academy, where a certain someone was waiting me. The idea of him fastened my pace, and in no time I arrived at the rooftop. As I walked towards the rooftop, I heard some voices.
'Would you battle me?' a young voice asked, full of hope and curiosity. 'Please?'
'Oh alright,' agreed the familiar voice. 'Just one battle.'
'Yeah!' cried the young voice in excitement. 'C'mon, let's go!'
'3 2 1! Let it rip!'
I poked my head around the corner, seeing two boys crouching down in a launching position. One had a white sling around his arm, even though he looked ready to battle. His crimson eyes shimmered in determination and fierceness. I found myself smiling and gazing into his eyes before looking at the other boy. He was small alright. Definitely younger than us, maybe a year or two older than Toko and Nika. He couldn't be older than nine years old. His messy blonde hair hung down, hovering above his equaling determined scarlet hues. Their laughs echoed throughout the rooftop as they battled, calling out orders for their beys. Finally the younger one's bey clattered to the floor in a matter of seconds.
'I was so close!' complained the boy, crestfallen, while picking up his bey.
'Maybe next time,' grinned Shu. I stepped out, revealing myself to the boys and offering the food in my hands.
'Anyone order some delicious pastries, straight from the Aoi store?'
They both smiled in the delight, running to retrieve some tasty snacks before sitting down on the floor in exhaustion. I joined them of the floor, smiling as well.
'Long time, no see, Fubuki,' I looked at the blonde in affection.
'Agreed,' he munched on some chocolate-chip cookies. 'But I saw you plenty of times on TV. Congrats for winning the title of world champion! But don't get too comfy, because I'm going to win top spot!'
I giggled and nudged him playfully. 'Yeah, right.'
'You two know each other?' asked Shu in surprise. I nodded.
'Yeah, we're family friends,' I replied. 'Fubuki and his parents used to train at the Shakadera dojo. He's practically my little brother.'
'Are you guys dating again?' Fubuki asked suddenly, full of interest.
Shu's forehead creased. 'No, but why do you as-'
'Oh...' Fubuki sighed. 'You guys would make a cute couple.'
He laughed and began training again, yanking his ripcord with strength and determination. Shu and I both exchanged each other a sideways smile, a smile full of wistfulness and melancholy. But we both knew it wasn't meant to be.
How wrong I was.

YAYYYYY! FINISHED! Now onto the third book :D
Just telling you ahead of time, I might not start it until next year, as most of the episodes in Super Z aren't out yet and I want to concentrate on writing one book. And I have two ideas in mind. :)
Any ARMYs out there?
I'm kinda taking a break from x readers. I would like to describe the reader's features a lot more often, but I can't do that with x readers.
I'm developing a plan for two books. One will definitely be about Taehyung. Or maybe even a BTS collection of stories. I'm thinking of also making a book containing a collection of random stories and chapters. The other book I've been thinking about for quite some time, some I'll give you a summary:
Shu Kurenai is a lonely thirteen year old who lives in Osaka, Japan, with her grandmother who had recently died. Now he was being sent to live in the city with her parents. However on the train to Tokyo, things go awry. When traveling along rocky cliffs, an old bomb from World War II goes off, blasting the train with all of it's passengers onto a ledge barely big enough to fit the train. And underneath? Large waves that crashed into the spikes of rough rocks. Too make things even worse, his arch-enemy, rival and nemesis was on board. Yet Shu couldn't deny that something about this character intrigued him, even if both of them were bitter enemies, known by the whole of Japan.
Shu Kurenai and...
Lui Shirasagijo.
But as the chances of surviving decrease alarmingly, they are forced to make a friendship, that eventually blossoms into something more.
