Chapter 21

Your POV

No way.

'I-I-I lost?'

I crouched down, my hands fumblingto reach the parts of Xcalius, trembling with hurt especially when I picked up the broken performance tip. Hot water began to sting my eyes, even though I was doing my best to contain them. But it was kinda hard when your ex-boyfriend that you still loved who is know a psychopath crushed your other companion. Literally.

'Why do you sound so surprised?' snickered Shu, no, Red Eye. I kept my eyes on my beyblade's pieces that laid on my palms, not daring to look into the menacing scarlet blood-thirsty pools. 'It was painfully obvious you were going to lose. Everybody knew that.'

My chest starting shaking, my breaths quivering, growing fainter and more random. My windpipe started to open and close, trying to find oxygen, but somehow never found it. I was hyperventilating.

I let my (h/c) bangs fall across my face, a long shadow drawn onto me, shielding my features until only my gritted teeth were visible. They weren't gritted from anger, but rather from all the hurt and pain I was receiving.

A thousand things came to mind that tempted me to yell at Red Eye. But I was too damaged and in agony to move. All I wanted to do was to curl up into a ball, with Shu's comforting arms wrapped around me. But it was Red Eye now.

Maybe Shu Kurenai truly was gone.

I heard a 'tch' from the male opposite from me, followed by a series of footsteps indicating that the referee and Red Eye were leaving. Chatter, cheers and familiar voices heavy with concern were scattered everywhere, but I kept my head down, still uncontrollably crying silently. In my pocket, my phone buzzed with the familiar sunny ringtone, but I didn't want to talk to Zac right now. Or Chris. Or Xander. Or Free. Or even Valt.

The only person I wanted to talk with was Shu.

Before he left forever.

Shu's POV

I wanted to scream.

I wanted to shout, yell, fight, escape from this hell of a nightmare. I wanted to so badly run over to the cowering body of (y/n) and scream about how sorry I was. About how I didn't mean to get into this much trouble. I wanted to hug her, kiss her and tell her, 'I love you,' even if she didn't love me back anymore.

But I was trapped. I was trapped inside my own darn body. My arms struggled to break the bonds of fire that locked me within my own body and mind. But the power of Spriggan was too overwhelming, sapping all of my life energy. Dark laughter echoed throughout the dark chamber in my mind, and a pillar of fire erupted before melting away to reveal a figure.

His hair was a mop of snowy hair, growing way too long, past the shoulders. His outfit consisted of only black, white and blood-red scarlet. He carried himself as if the world should fear him, anger and arrogance radiating off him so much it made me woozy. Plain intimidating.

The crimson orbs only reflected pure hatred, sharp as a knife that it almost cut me in two. Across his pale, gaunt face that was an sickly shade of white was a grin. A grin showing yellowish teeth, too big of a grin to suggest happiness. But instead, it was sheer maniacal. But even the smile or the eyes weren't the worst part.

The worst part was that he was me.

At least, we were both Shu. Even from a young age, I knew that I had a dark side. A dark side that prompted me to keep away from other people and fear social interaction. A dark side that my father had, ripping apart my family. The hunger for power and victory had tempted me for years now, growing even more stronger when I started blading. I guess that's what happened to Lui and Free, both thirsting for the triumph of victory. But none of them had it as bad as me.

For the past few months, ever since I joined Snake Pit, my dark side had been gaining more power. I knew I shouldn't have joined Snake Pit. But I didn't realize how dangerous it actually was until it was too late. And once you're in, you can't out. I hadn't realized all this time Ashtem had known about my dark side, and was prompting it to overpower me. The good me.

And once Spriggan came into play...everything overwhelmed me so much I gave into to the temptation and I was locked away in my mind, unable to control my body or communicate with anyone.

So I watched in pain as (y/n), my last hope, had lost at the hands of my dark side. And now she had been crushed eternally, along with her beyblade, Xcalius, that I had destroyed. I didn't expect her to love me ever again. Tears still stained my cheeks.

'Still crying, are you now?' taunted Yami Shu, walking closer to my bonds. He smirked a little, pinching my chin, forcing me to meet his blood-red eyes. (omg my dirty mind). 'No wonder why you're in chains. Pathetic.'

He forcefully pushed my chin down, so that my eyes were forced to the ground. 'You're not the reason I'm in chains. We both know Spriggan is behind this. And he's taking advantage of you to control me.'

'It isn't Spriggan,' scoffed Yami Shu. 'Your dear beyblade companion would never betray you. Unless part of him betrayed him. Yes, Spriggan has two sides, much like you. One Yami, one not. And the non-Yami is in bonds right now, struggling for freedom. Like you.'

'Look, Yami,' I growled angrily as he laughed softly and walked away. 'I don't care what you do with me. Just don't hurt (y/n) anymore. Don't you dare.'

'You're in no position to make threats, Shu,' smirked Yami smugly. His back still faced me. 'Look at you. Begging me like a little dog. But don't worry. I can't crush her until I face her again. Then I will demolish her completely.'

'N-No,' my voice sounded hoarse, as if somebody's hand was closing around my windpipe.  'Just...please. Leave everyone else alone. This is all my fault.'

'Oh?' gaped Yami. 'But your all time rival, your arch-nemesis will be a future opponent of mine. Don't you want him crushed?'

'No,' I replied, my voice definite and hard as stone. 'Nobody will get crushed. Everyone will overpower you.'

'Don't forget,' cackled Yami. 'I'm your weakness.'

He continued cackling, disappearing from sight again. I knew he had taken control of my mind, controlling my body. I let out a shuddering sigh, racked with grief. My face scrunched up as I let my bangs fall in front of my eyes. My eyes found their way towards to the floor, beginning to prick from the salty water. The first tear slid out from my closed eyelid.

'This is all my fault.'

Your POV

I carefully combed back the last piece of messy hair.

It had been about two hours after my loss. And everything still hurt. My mind was a complete puzzle, thoughts and feeling so scattered I couldn't even make out my feelings towards Shu, now that he had destroyed my bey.

Xcalius laid on the bathroom bench, the broken parts of it's performance tip broken beyond repair. I sighed and turned on the tap,  bringing the cold water up to my dry and stained face. Now I looked fine. Perfect, really. It was almost believable that my heart didn't break in two today.

Letting exhaustion overcome me, I collapsed onto the bed, my Chimmy PJs flopping down with me. A ding echoed throughout the room, signaling the room service had come. I flipped over on my bed, so that I faced the ceiling now. But I still couldn't be bothered to grab the pizza.

'Just leave it on the floor!' I yelled, hoping that the person would hear me. Instantly, I heard the sound of a box dropping and muffled footsteps. Sighing, my fingers wrapped around the necklace Shu had given me.

Closing my eyes, a single teardrop leaked out. What if he truly had gone? No, that couldn't be. Could it? Doubt filled my mind, plaguing my thoughts with anxiousness. I silently laid down on the neat bed, confused with my emotions. In an enormous effort, I turned my head to look at the bey next to me.

Xcalius, I thought. Please help me.

On cue, a bright light filled the room. Energy was pumping through my veins again, coursing through my body with a strong life force. I wasn't in the dreary, old room anymore. I was alone in a pure white atmosphere with Xcalius standing right in front of me. Even though it towered right over me, it's presence alone was comforting. I instantly felt safe and warm.

'(y/n),' boomed the monster. 'Do not give up.'

'Why shouldn't I?' I asked, my voice suddenly trembling with sadness and fear as I knelt down clutching the necklace, sobbing. 'Shu's gone.'

'He is not,'  replied Xcalius. I looked up into it's diamond eyes, unsure whether to trust this statement.

'How do you know?'

'There are two Shus,' began Xcalius. 'The one you fell in love with, back in Japan. And the one who took over the first one, the dark side the first one was always scared of. The dark side is known as a Yami. It is the same with Spriggan. The two Yamis have taken over Shu's body, rendering Shu and Spriggan helpless in chains. But Shu and Spriggan's spirits are still alive. They are still fighting. I can feel every beyblade force. Once Shu has given up and gone, so will Spriggan. But until that happens, you mustn't stop fighting. You have to believe in yourself.'

'Everybody tells me that,' I smiled through my tears. 'Okay, I will go on.'

'Good,' nodded Xcalius.

I inclined my head slightly. 'Thank you for everything.'

Another flash of light erupted, and I was back in the dorm room, only filled with energy. A wide smile filled my face as I bounced downstairs to the dining room. For once my mind was clear. I knew what I had to do.

And this time, there would be no distractions.
