Chapter 44

True to her word, three o'clock rolled around and Uraraka was on the doorstep, Todoroki and Shinsou in tow. To her credit, the brunette looked every bit put together, not a hair out of place, no sweatpants in sight, and even a light layer of makeup. Leave it to Uraraka to never let a crisis let her look anything but perfect. The boys on the other hand just sported hoodies and jeans, which was typical for them. All and all, my friends looked like they stepped right out of one of the many pictures on my phone.

"I'm going to kill you," Uraraka said with a sweet smile as a way of greeting me. She didn't wait for a response, shouldering right past me into the boys' house. Todoroki gave a nod of acknowledgement as he strode past, following after the girl. That left me and Shinsou. Delightful.

"How're you holding up?" he asked, trying to break the awkward silence that had fallen on us. He was watching me closely, his violet eyes never looking away.

"Horrible," I only half-joke. "But what's new?" I stepped to the side a little more, hoping he'd take the hint to cut the conversation short and meet up with the rest of them.

Shinsou decided to totally misread the sign, because of course he did. Instead of walking into the house, he took a step in and had me stuck between him and the still open door, because he's an asshole. "You should have called me," he said softly, his height causing him to tower over me.

I was rattled from the close proximity and was desperately trying to find a way out of it without being mean. Despite everything, he was still one of my best friends, I didn't want to be too much of a dick. "I didn't tell my boyfriends," I pointed out sheepishly. "Why would I tell anyone else?"

"Because it's me," he stated, like it was an obvious fact that I was stupid to ignore. "I would have been here in a day. I would have dropped everything for you." Shinsou had seen the line and skipped right over it. He wasn't even pretending to just be my best friend. He'd gone into full delusional territory.

I stared at him, completely baffled. My mind couldn't comprehend that he had thought of that little speech and still decided to say it. I stopped caring about being a dick after that, pushing him away from me a tad rougher than necessary. "Something you need to understand is that you're one of my best friends, but that's all you are." I almost stopped there, seeing him flinch back from me. "I'm in a relationship, Shinsou. I have two amazing boyfriends that make me so fucking happy. Why do you want to ruin it so badly?" I let out a breath, staring him down. When it didn't seem like he was going to respond, I turned on my heels and walked to the kitchen.

The scene I walked in on wasn't a surprise. Eijirou and Uraraka were conspiring around one of their phones, I wasn't sure whose. Uraraka was giggling every other second, pointing her finger once in a while. Todoroki was sitting on a stool, leaning his elbows against the counter, and in the middle of a staring contest with Katsuki, who was leaning back on the opposite counter.

Eijirou was the first to notice me walking in, Shinsou not far behind, because of course he wasn't. I watched as my boyfriend's eyes shifted from me, to Shinsou, and back. "Darlin'?" he asked simply.

I smiled at the nickname, making my way to him and wrapping myself around his side. Without hesitation, his arm slung around my waist, holding me to his side. "What're you two plotting over here?" I questioned, a single eyebrow raised. I trusted nothing that involved my brunette friend.

Uraraka giggled, holding up the phone in her hand. I realized that it was my boyfriend's and not hers. "Ash is awake. I was getting Kirishima to text her to come over, so I can surprise her." Her voice was all bubbles and giddiness. At least one good thing was coming out of this situation, a long distance, lesbian reunion.

I narrowed my eyes in her direction "The real reason you came here," I accused.

Her eyes lit up at the challenge, because she's actually bat shit crazy. "Oh, I'm sorry. I can skip right to the murder part if you'd prefer?" She tilted her head just slightly, giving her statement a whole new eerie effect.

I shivered, pressing myself closer to Eijirou. "Stop being a cryptid for, like, five seconds, please. You're really starting to freak me out," I complained, slapping my hand at her, lighting landing a few hits.

She laughed at my assault, easing the tension that had built in an instant. "But it's so much fun to scare you." Her laughter died as she faked a pout.

"Can you guys not have a pissing match in the kitchen?" Shinsou's voice cut through our conversation, drawing out attention to the center of the room. Katsuki had now turned his glare on the purple haired teen, while Todoroki was just looking around for the first time. Had he seriously not looked at the kitchen before locking into the staring contest? What the fuck?

Shinsou caught Katsuki's eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. "Take a picture," he taunted. "It'll last longer."

Before Katsuki could blow a fuse and probably throw a punch, I stepped in. "Shinsou, shut the fuck up," I snapped, effectively, shutting him up.

Todoroki just turned a blank stare to the blond in front of him and deadpanned, "You have a lovely home."

Uraraka tsked at him, wearing a patronizing look. "Todo, sweetheart, you were so close yet, so far." She then turned to me, a hand on her chest and she faked a sniffle. "I love watching him try to be a human."

Katsuki turned to me, motioning to all three of my friends with his hand. "Why the hell are they here again?" He was clearly annoyed with their antics.

"Because," Uraraka said in a tired tone, as if she'd explained a million times before. "You want to kill Shigaraki, like a bunch of dumbasses."

"And you're going to get yourselves killed," Shinsou added, although no one wanted to hear his voice. "Like a bunch of dumbasses."

"Funny," Eijirou said with a short laugh. "I don't remember asking for your opinion." Even his smile was dripping with sarcasm. I was surprised that such a direct jab came from Eijirou, I would have bet money on something like that being said by Katsuki.

"Ladies," I spoke up, holding a hand up to each of them. "Let's stop being petty," a look at Eijirou," bitches," I said to Shinsou.

Eijirou wrapped his hand around my wrist, completely engulfing it. I hadn't quite realized how much bigger than me he was. He didn't have to say anything, just sent a dark look that made me acutely aware of the four and half hours of ideas he and Katsuki just had with me. I audibly gulped.

I was pulled back to his side, his arm securely around my waist in a possessive grip. I knew right then and there that I wasn't leaving his side the rest of the night. I don't even think Katsuki could steal me away, he'd probably just stick to my other side anyway.

Uraraka cleared her throat from next to us. "Well, I for one, hated watching that power display in real time. When is Ash gonna be here?" she whined to Ei, stating her thoughts and then completely changing the conversation. Sometimes I really loved the way her mind works.

"In twenty," Eijirou told her with a sigh. My guess was that it hadn't been the first time she'd asked.

"You spent weeks apart, what's twenty more minutes?" I teased, welcoming the topic change.

Uraraka held a hand up in front of me, turning her face away. "Silence, little bitches don't get to talk."

My jaw dropped at her words, but Eijirou instantly fell into laughter beside me. "Uraraka," I gasped. "What the fuck?"

She frowned at me, like she couldn't fathom why I was seemingly upset. "It was hilarious, shut up."

I rolled my eyes at her, but didn't say anything else about it. I had made plenty of worse jokes at her expense for the same reason. It was an unspoken rule that nothing was off limits to each other. It was just funnier that way.

"You're so out of pocket," Eijirou said after finally calming his laughter down, although a few chuckles escaped.

"Thank you," the brunette said with a wide smile. "I pride myself on it."

I patted the top of her head with a sarcastic smile. "Not something to brag about, sweetie."

Katsuki snorted from the other side of the kitchen. "Like you're any better."

I shot him a sharp glare. How dare he not take my side? "I am not out of pocket," I snapped.

"You told us to fuck off and die, because we wanted to befriend you," Eijirou chimed in, now officially branded a traitor just like the blond.

"Told me I needed to get laid more after knowing me for a day," Katsuki added to the list.

"Clearly that wasn't the problem," I shot back, crossing my arms the best I could while still in Eijirou's death grip.

"No, Deku," Katsuki said with a knowing smirk. "It wasn't." Eijirou's arm tightened around me, pulling me even closer to him.

"For the love of god," Uraraka exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air walking a few feet towards the counter. "Can you three stop fucking each other in front of me?"

"You can leave at any time," Katsuki deadpanned at her in response.

The brunette huffed in annoyance and sent the blond a pointed look. "No, I cannot. Did you miss the whole reason we're here? I have to make sure my idiot of a best friend doesn't die." She crossed her arms as she turned her eyes to  me.

"Fine," Katsuki said, sending her his own sarcastic smile. "You stay and the other two can leave." His eyes flashed to Todoroki and Shinsou in turn.

"Kacchan," I tutted in exasperation. "I just told you why they can't leave." I let my head rest against Eijirou's chest, getting tired of standing already. I don't know how Eijirou caught onto that fact, but I was quickly lifted by my hips and placed on the counter next to him, his hand resting on my thigh. Apparently, he couldn't stop the possessive bullshit for even a second.

"No," Katsuki said slowly, pushing himself from the counter he rested on and making his way over to us. He effortlessly pulled himself onto the counter beside me, an arm going around my waist. Great, now they were both being dicks. "You explained why eyebags had to be here, and we pointed out that he's out of practice anyway."

"Oh great," Shinsou said, shooting me a glare with very little heat behind it. "I love when more people learn about my dead dad."

I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes right back at him. "I could have just agreed to making you stay back home, if you preferred?" I challenged.

"It's cute that you think you could have stopped me," Shinsou said, talking down to me like I was a child. I hated being talked down to.

That wasn't the part that my boyfriends cared about though.

Eijirou's hand tightened on my thigh and I felt Katsuki's hand grab onto the back of shirt from behind me. "Can you maybe not flirt with our boyfriend in our own fucking kitchen?" the redhead said in a clipped voice. I had to give him credit, he was trying his hardest to not pounce on the other boy.

All it did was cause Shinsou to turn his sights on him instead of me. "That wasn't flirting," he stated with a shrug. "Trust me, when I flirt with him, you'll know."

Katsuki pulled at Eijirou's shirt, keeping him firmly anchored in place. "Do you have a fucking death wish?" the redhead bit out, his crimson eyes narrowed into slits.

Shinsou's expression turned to a smug smile as he lifted up the bottom of shirt to reveal a pistol. "I'm begging you to try."

I balked at the sight, because of fucking course he was packing (so sorry but I'm laughing my ass off rn because the only time I've ever referred to someone as packing, was my fifty year old white mother, who is in fact my scary dog privilege to walk around at night. That woman is always strapped). "Shinsou," I snapped, my tone enough for him to drop his shirt and roll his eyes. "If you can't fucking play nice, the door is behind you." I punctuated my statement with a sickly sweet smile. He'd done nothing but piss me off since getting there, and my patience was waning.

"Just wondering if they wanted to test how out of practice I was," Shinsou said, brushing it off with a shrug. As if he didn't just threaten to shoot my boyfriends.

I turned my stoney expression to Eijirou, letting a smile slip onto my face as I looked at him. "Ei, baby, can you let me up, please?" Even though it was phrased as a question, the redhead knew he didn't have much of a choice.

He was reluctant, but eventually I was able to push myself off the counter. I turned to both of my boyfriends, giving them a pointed look. "Stay here."

"Iz," Eijirou said in warning, but I ignored him as I walked over to Shinsou. I grabbed his wrist and dragged him through the hall until I was convinced we were far enough to not be overheard.

"Dragging me off to a dark corner right in front of the guys you're supposed to be dating?" Shinsou teased as we came to a halt and I whirled on him.

"Shut the fuck up," I seethed, making his joking demeanor fall. "You need to knock it off, because despite everything, you're one of my best friends. I care about you, Shinsou, and I don't want to see three people I love rip each other apart when we're supposed to be taking down Shigaraki. If you can't at least pretend to be my friend, then you should just leave." I was breathing hard after finally saying my piece. I pointedly stared at him, waiting for his response. He didn't get to opt out of the conversation this time.

To my surprise, he shook his head with a quiet laugh at me, causing a frown to form on my lips. "There you go again, saying stupid shit like you love me and just expecting me to ignore it," he said, leaning one shoulder against the wall next to him, his hands shoved into his front pockets.

I blinked at him for a few moments while I wrapped my head around his words. "Shinsou, of course I love you. You've been my best friend since thirteen. But, I'm in love with Eijirou and Katsuki, and you need to back off," I demanded.

His violet eyes rolled at my words, only succeeding in pissing me off more. "We've had this conversation once before, Iz. I'm not giving up."

I frowned at the nickname. It felt wrong being called that by someone who wasn't Eijirou, even though technically Shinsou had used it first. "But I'm asking you to," I replied weakly, looking up at him as all the fatigue of the day finally caught up with me. I had been running on pure adrenaline for the past few hours, but Shinsou always had a way of making me too exhausted to continue arguing.

He lifted a hand and I instinctively tried to move back, but was met with a wall. His fingers traced my jaw as I turned my head away stubbornly. It didn't last long as he grabbed my chin and gently twisted it back to him. "You can't just ask someone to fall out of love with you," he mumbled, forcing me to meet his eyes.

I was glaring daggers, but it didn't seem to phase him. He just leaned in and planted a light kiss on my forehead as I cringed away. He didn't pull away, just letting his forehead rest against mine. "Why're you fighting this so much?" he whispered.

I wasn't sure if I was even supposed to hear it, but I did. I pushed his chest, forcing him back and away from me. "Because I'm not in love with you," I told him honestly. "I never was."

He looked me up and down for a second, letting my words sink in. "I find that incredibly hard to believe."

I shrugged, pushing past him and heading back towards the kitchen. "Believe what you want, you know the truth."

I entered the kitchen, visibly drained of all energy and halting any conversation that had managed to be struck up in my absence. "I'm exhausted, so I'm heading to bed," I mumbled to all of them.

I watched Eijirou and Katsuki exchange a split second look before the redhead was making his way to me. His hand slipped into mine as he pressed his body into my side. "C'mon, let's go. Kats will make sure your friends have somewhere to sleep."

I just nodded in agreement, letting him lead me out of the kitchen and towards the stairs. I caught a flash of purple hair still in the hall, but deliberately ignored it. It hit me then, why Eijirou was the one heading to bed with me. Katsuki was actually more likely to not kill someone at that moment than him.

I knew that the next few days were going to be exhausting.

AND THIS WAS JUST ONE HOUR OF SHINSOU BEING THERE OMFG IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS.
