Chapter 1- That Weird Feeling
It could happen at any given moment. You are just going about your daily business when suddenly it hits you. No matter what is going on at the moment, a peculiar thought will cross your mind. You may feel that something is missing or forgotten from your life. The feeling may not be that big a deal at first, but then it spreads throughout your mind and then makes your chest feel like it is about to sink. That weird feeling happened to Elizabeth Morris one early summer day in the 28th year of her life.
Elizabeth and her friends traveled toward a mysterious location near Ravenwood, Massachusetts. Ravenwood was located about seven miles outside Salem, the village infamous for its witch trials. Its most noted landmark was the town's church, abandoned for centuries. Supposedly, a horrible event happened there that caused the townspeople to avoid the church at all costs.
In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth hosted a podcast titled Obscure Legends with Elizabeth Morris. Ever since she was a little girl, she constantly thought about breaking barriers. As a young female of color, others always told her that it would be hard to do so, but that did not stop her.
One day, she found out about the church while searching for creepy Wikipedia pages. She saw something which intrigued her to the point where she wanted to go there as soon as possible. Sure enough, her friends, including her podcast co-host, Sam Ridley, agreed to do so, and they headed to Ravenwood.
"Liz, are you okay? You look pale," Sam said.
"What? Um, no, I just zoned out for a moment," Elizabeth replied.
"Are you sure? There's a rest stop two miles from here if you need one," Sam stated.
"We can go there, but I'm fine," Elizabeth said.
"I don't blame you for feeling this way," said Megyn Daniels, another friend and a horror fanatic. She had a Gothic aura to her one could sense a mile away. "From what I've heard, anyone who goes near that church ends up feeling... wrong."
"Well, that's comforting," Elizabeth sarcastically replied.
"We're almost at the rest stop. We can talk more later," Sam reassured.
