Y/N's POV
My eyes grew wide.
"I gotta go Y/N." Sideswipe tells me apologetically. I shake my head firmly. "I'm coming with you."
"But--"
"I'll be safer with you anyway, right? With you to protect me?" I ask, not wanting him to abandon me again, and wanting to see what this was all about.
"Um--"
"I'm going either way." I say firmly.
"Okay." He relents, and before he thinks about it, he takes my hand and leads me out to his car. It's not really the time, but I'm blushing as his hand holds mine. He opens my car door and we hop in. He speaks quickly over the coms, "Send me the coordinates." I guess I'm staring, because he gives me a crooked grin and wiggles his eyebrows. I giggle and then hear,
"Sideswipe, you'd better not have dragged Y/N into this!" Strongarm doesn't sound very happy.
"I didn't drag her into anything!" He protests, and I add, "I told him I was coming." Strongarm starts to respond when I hear Bumblebee's voice over the coms, "Not the time, we'll talk about it later! For now, we've got 'cons to catch."
I thought him driving before was fast.
But I can be wrong.
Sometimes.
"Whoa!" My eyes are wide, and I then grin a little and laugh. Sideswipe tosses me a flirtatious grin and is about to say something when the coordinates of the 'cons catch his eye instead.
I kind of still wonder what he would have said.
"You're going to have to get out here Y/N." Sideswipe stops a few minutes later. "'Cons are up ahead, and I can't transform with you inside, okay? I'll come back for you--I promise." His eyes lock with mine, those ocean blue eyes causing me to falter for a moment. "Yeah--okay." I nod and get out. Before I know, he's gone again.
I sit down and wait, out of sight so no creep of a 'con could eat me or whatever they do to humans.
Okay Y/N, they probably won't eat you. . . But you'll probably be kept as leverage or be killed. I think.
I hear a clash of metal, and close my eyes with a wince. Is Sideswipe okay?
I huddle in the trees, the darkness closing in around me.
"It was a setup!" I hear his ticked off voice and his footsteps approaching me. He transforms into a car and beeps. "Y/N??"
"R-Right here." I stand up shakily with wide eyes.
"Get it." His door opens, and I get inside.
He's cut off by Strongarm. "I can't find them anywhere!"
I'm still confused about what happened.
"What about the school?" I offer.
"I'm here and there's nothing to smash." Grimlock's voice reports sadly.
"Strange. . ." Strongarm mutters. "Be on the lookout!"
They finish conversing for now and then there's silence.
My phone rings.
I see the caller ID and my heart sinks.
"I-I gotta take this." I whisper shakily, my voice had sounded so much steadier in my head as I answer it and lower the call volume as low as I possibly can. Even still, his voice blasts through my phone, ringing in my ears and is full of profanity.
"WHERE ARE YOU!?"
"A-At the dance. . . Like I said. . ." I reply nervously, trying to block Sideswipe out. He turns on the radio loudly, to support my I'm-at-the-dance case, and probably to prevent the others from listening in--not maliciously, of course. I recognize it as when the party's over by Billie Eilish. The party was definitely over now.
"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HOME BY NOW!" I hear his long string of swear words and jabs to my character and promise him I'll be at the house--not my home--soon. As I hang up, I know it's not because he missed me, but missed what I can do for him.
I hear Strongarm's voice over the coms. "Sideswipe, what do you think you're doing!? Turn the radio off in times like this!"
"Sorry, just tryna impress the lady!" He replies, but switches his coms off. I can't believe it. He lied to cover me.
". . . Y/N. . ." Sideswipe glances over at me. "Are, um. . . Things okay. . . At your house? I-I know it's not my place to ask, but. . ." He bites his lip in worry.
I sigh and look down, holding back my tears. My first "date-ish" night was cut short by a fake Decepticon signal and my father yelling at me. "Everything's fine, Sideswipe. You should probably turn your coms back on. Don't want to miss anything."
"No," His voice is firm. "This is important. If you're getting hurt, I should--"
"It's--It's okay. Really. Um, Just let me out here, I'll walk the rest of the way. Not that far from here. Okay?" He sighs and I know he doesn't want to do this, but he finds a safe place to pull over. He lets me out, but gets out himself.
"Just let me--if I can't--May I hug you? I think you need a hug." He asks, cheeks slightly red.
He is right though.
I do need a hug.
In response, I wrap my arms around him, and he hugs me back. He's a good hugger. He holds me close and securely, but without hurting me. I want to stay there for a while and cry, but I pull away, holding my tears inside.
"I have to go," I rasp, and take off before he can say anything.
Once I'm at the house, a small, dingy thing not much bigger than a trailer, off the side of the road, surrounded by trees, with no one around to hear my screams. I fumble for my keys when the door is opened for me and I'm dragged inside. His temporary girlfriend is passed out on the couch from the numerous empty bottles of alcohol on the coffee table. He's clearly not sober either.
"Listen girl. . . I'm done with you." He looks unstable, and I try to stop shaking. His eyes are crazed.
For as many times as I've been hit,
by words and fist alike,
nothing could have ever prepared me
for the next words I'd hear that night.
"It's over. Go. Pack your stuff and leave."
". . . I. . ." The meek squeak leaves my lips.
"DID YOU NOT HEAR ME!?" He roars, anger in his eyes. "PACK UP, GET OUT OF MY SIGHT! LEAVE!" His voice lowers to a drunken whisper, "And don't ever come back." He then passes out.
I feel the tears come, and this time I don't try shoving them back. I go to my small room and grab two duffel bags, cramming my stuff in. I pick up my phone, dialing Sideswipe's number, unsure of who else to call. I rehearse what I should say, and he answers, "Hello?"
"H-Hey S-S-Sideswipe, I-I was wondering i-if you could come by and p-pick me up. . ?" I hiccup.
"Look out your window." I do, and see his blue eyes staring at me. I jump and open the window.
"H-How long have you been there!?"
He frowns at my upset state. "I didn't think you were okay. . . So I followed you home. . ."
". . . W-Well you were right, o-okay?" It comes out sharper than I mean to.
"Hey, I'm not here to gloat." He climbs in before I can stop him, and wraps me in another of his famous hugs.
This time, I do stay there in his arms and cry. In tears, I explain to him my situation once I'm ready. He's very patient the whole time, which is nice because he doesn't really come off as the super patient type.
"He what!?" Sideswipe asks in angry disbelief.
I nod and hiccup. "I-I've got n-nowhere to go."
"Yes you do. I'm taking you to the Salvage Depot." Before I can protest, he grabs my bags and hops out the window, loading them into his car. I stand their like a sobbing idiot the whole time. He comes back and sighs, climbing back into the window and helping me out. Once we're out of my room, he carries me to his car and puts me in the passenger seat before getting into the driver seat.
I sniffle and wipe my nose and eyes. "D-Do you think they'll l-let me stay a while?" I whisper.
"Of course." Sideswipe replies, glancing over at me with soft and sad blue eyes. "I'm really sorry Y/N." He reaches over to hold on of my hands while driving.
"I-It's fine Sideswipe." I mumble.
"It's not fine Y/N. 'Dads' shouldn't throw their kids out!" He cries. He was upset and distraught. While he felt sad for me, I could tell he was pissed at my father. "You deserve better Y/N."
"Thanks Sideswipe." I murmur, growing sleepy, and dozing off slowly. Before my eyes shut, however, I catch Sideswipe's dreamy smile in my direction, making me feel almost halfway okay.
(I hope you liked it guys! I tried to really bring down the abuse and profanity of Y/N's father because I didn't want this to be as dark or upsetting or mature as other stuff I write! Also, I feel like this will be a pretty long story. . . So I'm dividing it into different parts, right now we are still in part one. By the way, I really love Billie Eilish, so you'll be seeing plenty of her music in my stories! Have you heard "My Future"?? It's brilliant of course! Now that Y/N's kicked outta her house (well I know it's sad but who wants to live with a guy like that), hopefully we can get some more Sideswipe romantic action! Love you flames! Ash)
(P.S.: Any male can be a father, but it takes a man to be a dad.)
