Natsu saw Lucy standing with two other people. He noted the redhead girl looked scary but pretty while the black hair boy looked annoying and lazy. Also, for some reason, the black hair boy would randomly strip off his clothing. He didn't understand that one bit.

They are standing outside a cupcake shop. Natsu's stomach growled at the thought of the sweets. He sighed as walked by a couple, without them knowing Natsu stole their wallet. He pulled out a couple of dollars then walked by them again to slip it back inside. 

Natsu walked towards the shop and walked inside without looking at Lucy. He noticed how hard it was not to look at the blonde. He ordered him a cheap cupcake and heard the bell rang. He took a quick glance back only to see Lucy looking around for the pink hair fellow.

He smirked as he took the cupcake and walked to a table with two chairs. He took a chair with his back facing Lucy. The blonde saw Natsu and walked towards him. Natsu took a couple of bites as he saw Lucy standing right next to him. He raised his eyebrow trying to play dumb but also smart.

Natsu found that very hard also.

"Stalking me now?" Natsu asked.

Lucy blushed, "N-no! I saw you walk past but you didn't say hey." 

"I didn't see you, sorry."

"How could you not? I was standing right next to the door basically."

"Sorry, Luce. I had my mind on something." 

Lucy took the seat in front of him, "Like what?"

"Shouldn't I get to know you better before revealing any dirty secrets?" He asked with his eyebrow raised.

"I think strangers are better to explain things like this. They don't know you to judge nor you will never see them again."

"You should write a book."

"Why?"

He shrugged, "I may not be the smartest lightbulb around but I do know when someone says something wise or smart. It's like a brick hits my brain or something."

She snorted, "Has anyone ever called you stupid?"

"You wouldn't believe it but I get that a lot." He said.

Lucy laughed as she put her bag on the table. Natsu stared at it with his fingers tapping along the table. He had to fight the urge of taking the bag and running away with it. Natsu looked back up at her with a smile. Lucy didn't seem to notice him looking at her bag.

She sighed as she pulled out her wallet and said a quick excuse me. Natsu looked over and saw Lucy buying something. He also saw the two friends she was with walking inside to look at her. He watched them talk but raised his chin whenever they looked at him.

Lucy walked back with the other two following her. Natsu leaned back in the chair with a poker face. He didn't want the redhead to know that he is already scared of her or for the gray hair fellow to know that he doesn't like his face. They must have read him like a book.

"My name is Natsu," Natsu said, tired of the stares and silence.

He has never done well with silence.

"These are my friends, Gray and Erza," Lucy said.

"I never have seen you around here," Erza said. "Are you new in town?"

"Uh, yeah. Just moved here last month." Natsu replied.

"Why? No one moves here." Gray said.

"Well, I did." Natsu snapped.

"Just answer the question, Flame for Brains. Are you running from someone or the police?"

Natsu narrowed his eyes, "I'm looking for someone."

"Who?" Lucy asked.

"A man." Natsu lied.

He didn't come here to look for anyone. He just moved here because he almost killed someone at the last town. He didn't want to hurt anyone else but for some reason, that's all he found himself wanting to do lately. 

Yet ever since he saw Lucy something changed. The blonde was always on his mind. Natsu couldn't help but want to see her more. He wanted to be by her side and protect her from harm. Natsu looked away from Gray before he started a fight with him.

Natsu ate the rest of his cupcake and listened in the others talk. Every so often he would add in a comment but he couldn't look away from Lucy. Her long blonde hair over her shoulders, big brown eyes, and pale skin.

Lucy caught him staring at her. Her cheeks tinted red as she looked down. Natsu smirked before standing up. He said a quick bye then left the shop. He figured it's almost time for his work but he needed to change. Natsu heard someone calling his name causing him to look back and saw Lucy chasing after him.

She was holding onto her strap as she chased after him. Natsu stopped walking and shoved his hands inside his pockets. Lucy caught up and tried to catch her breath. Natsu looked around to find any cheap or free water. He didn't find any.

"Why did you chase me?" Natsu asked.

She held one finger up, "You left your money back on the table. Gray wanted it for himself but I figured you needed it."

"Thanks, Luce."

"Why are you calling me that?"

"Huh?"

"Luce . . . no one has ever called me that before." 

"Yo, I didn't realize I was. I'll stop if you want me too."

Lucy shook her head, "No. I don't. I'm cool if you call me Luce. I never got a nickname before."

"Well, you're welcome for your first nickname." 

She smiled, "Do you wanna hang out later tonight? Like, go out to eat or hang out at my loft." 

"You're inviting a stranger to be alone with you? Does that sound like a good idea, Luce?" He asked with his eyebrow raised.

"No," Lucy said but shrugged. "How else am I going to get to know you?"

"I'm down to hang out with you. How about at the town diner?"

"Sure. I'll be there around eight."

"See you then, Luce."
